Hello, my family immigration file is f3 , my priority date is current for date of filling and we received the welcome letter to pay the fees and AOS fees and documents. Then came the immigration ban. I am the principle applicant and my wife is a registered nurse with Cgfns and nclex certification. Can we be exempted from the ban when the date of final action becomes current ?
Hi Jomon, thanks for your question! Unfortunately, we aren't involved in family-based sponsorship. Our expertise is in employment-based sponsorship which your wife would be eligible for as a nurse. The current immigration ban should only be temporary, but until it is lifted there aren’t any exemptions for the family-based category. Hi, i've finally decided to educate myself until i'm a Nurse Practitioner here in the Philippines. My cousin is a nurse in the US (but she graduated highschool and college in the US) so if possible i want to work there too. The only worry that I have is whether or not it will be a safe career by 2031. My plan is to: (1) Graduate Nursing school and pass the licensure exam; (2) Go straight to my Masteral for 2 years; (3) Have 2 years worth of work experience in the Philippines (please tell me if this number is sufficient as a nurse practitioner); (4) Land an application for a job and fulfill the requirements to work in the US (or the other way around) Please enlighten me. Is it better to be a Nurse graduate in my case rather than a Nurse Practitoner? Is it better to do my Masteral there in the US? I know you can't magically control the processes in the world but please tell me some part of my odds in the safety of the career there in the US. I'm an upcoming Senior in HS and it would truly lift a huge burden off of me if you spare a word or two.
Hi SL Bernardo, We are excited to hear how eager you are to become a nurse/nurse practitioner in the U.S. - this is the excitement we look for in the nurses we hire! Currently, Shearwater focuses on hiring registered nurses, we have not yet placed a nurse practitioner. That being said, by the time you are ready to apply this could change. We have hired a few nurse practitioners in the past but placed them as registered nurses in the U.S. You should do what you think is best, but based on what we've seen we'd recommend focusing on obtaining your BSN first and obtain an RN role after graduating. We tend to hire nurses who are working as an RN in a tertiary facility with at least 150 beds. We mainly look for ICU, ER, and med-surg nurses because that is where the need is greatest in the U.S. If you are eager to come to the U.S. it may be better to look at master’s programs in the U.S. because there are more options and some masters programs achieved outside of the U.S. don’t transfer and may require retaking courses to complete your nurse practitioner program. We've had many nurses go on to become a nurse practitioner during or after completing their contract with Shearwater. By 2031, an RN or NP career in the U.S. will most likely still be a wonderful career that still needs great nurses. We actually anticipate the shortage growing over the next 10 years!
Hi Pamela! IT depends a lot on the country you're in, current priority dates, and whether you've taken the NCLEX, but we usually see a range between 16-36 months.
