- The divine Karita made me a definitive fan of hers when I saw her performance as Elsa in this production of "Lohengrin".
She's GLORIOUS !!!!!!!!! A wonderful souvenir !

I have to agree with this statement. However, I think we can yay karita in this!
And Salome's premiere was by another Finn, Aino Ackté - but Karita even lived years in my neighbouring house, but I never saw her (busy girl). (I "talk to stragers", and would have suggested her to sing twice the "müdgewordenen" instead of the much more coommon long "Aaaaaaaa-ugen" in "September", but she obviously read my thoughts, because on the Berlin record she aready does that (it matters, sounds better when "sordino"...)
I will write one - if you promise to post the scream on UA-cam. But I totally agree with you - I can't believe how people always rant about "too modern" Wagner settings. I think Wagner's music craves for modern and innovative settings. For example, Syderberg's innovative Parsifal film serves the music perfectly

OH GOD, WHY DIDN'T THEY GET HER "SALOME" ON FILM? Sorry for shouting, but Karita Mattila is one of the only great sopranos who can sing this stuff and isn't the size of an SUV.
