I am an IMG and a Resident Physician at the Mayo Clinic (AZ). I'm passionate about cardiovascular medicine, public health and patient safety. On the side, I mentor medical students/graduates including those pursuing US Medical Residency.

Hey, thanks for the suggestions. I'm planning to apply mayo clinic through vslo. What can I do for a stronger application? Do you think giving steps 1&2 will help?
Hey Omer. When I applied to mail for my elective it was before the elective was being offered through vslo and they did require step one then, which I would think is still the case. Certainly giving step one and step two would be beneficial as it might demonstrate solid interest in pursuing US residency. Also keep in mind the rotations are heavily dependent on availability and Mayo med students will likely be prioritized ahead of others. Also it may be reasonable to mix up your choices and include a competitive specially that you may be interested in along with a less competitive specialty as a backup.
@@drbaqal thanks dr baqal. Step 1 is soon for me and yes it's necessary. If I can complete my studies I will have done step 2 before submitting the application hopefully
