    If you enjoy this kind of music, Celtic tunes, then Celtic Colours held every year on Cape Breton Island is a festival you *must* attend. Go once, go again. Put it on your bucket list. Been there, loved it. Saw the Beaton family perform, and had a beer at the Rankin family's small pub. The locals are so hospitable, the whiskey is superb, the Cabot Trail may be Canada's finest and most beautiful drive, and, the music is awesome. What's not to love?

    another big fan from France. Not French but living in France. Like others I've watched
    this hundreds of times. Its what drew me to cape Breton music. If only I could
    make it over there... it's wonderful. Thank you so much the Beaton Sisters and Jason
    Roach ( Coig) and Patrick Gillis ( Béolach). Be great to see you in Europe.

    Patrick Gillis has the cutest most unassuming smile. No matter who I see him backing, it's like he's floored he's hearing genius for the first time, and looks like it's news to him that he can play the guitar and he's pleasantly surprised by himself - I adore his stage presence.

    I had the honour of meeting Dawn at a Celtic colours event this year (2022) and I HAD to let her know that I am a huge fan of fiddle music and have watched this video of the group of them at least once a month (many times, more). This is probably the best set of tunes I have heard!
    I moved back to Nova scotia in 2021, to Cheticamp, and I had a bucket list of musicians that I wanted to see on the Iconic stage of the Doryman..... I have seen MOST of them only two are missing...... Dawn and Margie Beaton. I may need to go visit Mabou to see them play at The Shoe!

      He's left handed playing a right handed guitar

    • @joemacgillivray8504
      @joemacgillivray8504 5 років тому +1

      Indeed. Playing a right-handed guitar, left-handed.
      Ashley MacIsaac has always played the fiddle left-handed on a right-handed fiddle. The highest pitch string is on the top rather than the bottom. That's how he has played it since he started fiddle as a kid. It's been noted in interviews I have seen.
      I think it's a fun way to play strings. I took a lefty guitar and held it right handed and played some lead riffs and worked out the chords, positioning my fingers in reverse for the chord fingerings. It's a neat way to do it.
      You can technically convert a stringed instrument from a right to left and vice versa. It's more than just re-stringing it upside down, though. The bone piece on the bridge of the body and the bone at the head need to be changed too, as well as other adjustments.
      That's what I have learned through talking to some luthiers and other guitar tech folk. Some say that in the long run, it isn't that great of a thing to do, though. I'd rather play a lefty guitar upside down based on that info I learned.
