      I saw this when I was on an 8th grade class trip to DC - late night in the hotel with 3 friends. We were Kiss fans, so this totally freaked us out - way too weird. I realized the Heads genius a few years later and was able to see them on the Speaking in Tongues tour (Cape Cod Colosseum).

    Oh man, I'd recorded this direct from my parents old tv when it was first aired but the tape cassette got recorded over by someone who borrowed it. Neat to see this again.

    FUN FACT. When the TH played SNL in 1978, they first played “Take me to River”. Their second song(played at the end of show) was this one…. I believe this may be the recording of it.

    This was my absolute fav TH song for a very long time, with "I zimbra", then came "Once in a lifetime" and many others. I could imagine a cover made by B52s. The organ chords would be in perfect b52s style! But that cover only played in my brain! Im sch-leaning... Cleaning my brain!

    Are we sure this is from SNL? For one thing, it's a different arrangement than the studio version (and other live versions from same era); two, I saw the broadcast and I don't recall so many varied camera angles--especially overhead shots. What is the video source (black and white, slow motion effects)?

    • @neptunejmax
      @neptunejmax 2 роки тому +1

      It's definitely SNL because I have part of a proper version of this on a VHS tape of my own. However, why this person chose to change it to black and white and run it through a slow motion effect is both puzzling and annoying.

    • @aliensporebomb
      @aliensporebomb Рік тому +1

      @@neptunejmax Probably to avoid copyright issues with the SNL people. This is definitely the SNL performance, I had this recorded direct from my parents TV to a cassette recorder and listened to it to death for many years.

    I remember seeing this live when it aired and thinking, "this is the stupidest song I have ever heard". Never changed my mind either, and it really soured me and delayed my appreciation of their later music. I do like a lot of their other songs, but this one is still really stupid.
