July 7th references to the story of "The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl" as found in Chinese mythology. The story tells of the romance between Zhinü (織女; the weaver girl, symbolizing the star Vega) and Niulang (牛郎; the cowherd, symbolizing the star Altair). Their love was not allowed, and thus they were banished to opposite sides of the heavenly river (symbolizing the Milky Way).Once a year, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, a flock of magpies would form a bridge to reunite the lovers for a single day. July 7th is also celebrated as a festival in China (Qixi), Japan (Tanabata) and Korea (Chilseok).
The story around July 7th is called the Weaver Girl and the Cowherd. Basically they were separated by the girl's father and could only meet on the 7th day of the 7th month. They are constellations and around July 7th is the time when they are close to each other in the night sky. There's a festival in many East Asian countries during thay time of the year! 🥰 Alone In The City is my favorite EP and What is my favorite DC title track. I cannot explain why exactly. 😂
"Sometimes you just need Handong's voice" -Leez. She has one of the very very few resonant voices in kpop (Seulgi and I don't of know any others). The resonant contrast with other members' voices is what creates barama bureora superiority during Wind Blows. Add her sensitivity to the resonance and you get full-on Holding This Pain. Also, I'm officially starting a petition for more Handong low notes because 와아아아아아아 😍
They will Return with the first cool Breeze of Autumn fall and the first drop of the golden leaf. " the fall of the golden Leaf , is as the fall of the Tear of a Dreamcatcher ", Catch the Leaf 🍂 , Catch the Dream , Make a Wish ✨
This is my FAVORITE DC album. All top-tier hits. And I’m with you-What is definitely in my top 3 title tracks along with Odd Eye and You & I! My most listened to DC song last year was one you haven’t gotten to yet and one that will probably surprise you with its vibe when you do-it’s a b-side from Summer Holiday called Whistle! Also a banger and there’s a great choreo performance from their Midnight Circus concert last year. I can’t believe it’s almost time for another Halloween concert and new comeback!!!
The fact that you mentioned that you're more of a "Cider girl" while reacting to DC is kind of hilarious, lmao. If you don't know/remember they were obsessed with a song called Cider and sang in various times on variety shows
Yay! More Dreamcatcher! :D Amazing. Thank you for this; this reaction was so so so much fun. I love this mini album ^_^ Also thanks for the reminder to join the Patreon lmao I need to go do that immediately while I can this month! 2:41 "This would be a good start to a concert--" Well, that _is_ usually what they use their intros for, so you've got it right on the money. "What" is _so_ satisfying lmao I in no way blame you for rewinding it just to go "ah! uh! ahh!" over the opening bit because...same. ATEEZ and DC have two sets of songs with the same names ("Wonderland" and "Deja Vu" and tbh there might be more but idk ATZ's discography as well), and my brain likes to occasionally have me think of both at the same time despite the fact that they don't fit together. It's a whole _time._ Anyway, "Wonderland" and "And There Was No One Left" are two of my favorite b-sides from DC and they have very similar lo-fi but dangerous-alluring-creepy vibes. Idk. I think you'll like "And There..." when you get to it as well. Or, I hope so! There are two live performances of "Wonderland" that I like. This one from Arirang Radio, you can probably keep on UA-cam (ua-cam.com/video/ACg6EQ5Ehxc/v-deo.html), but it's just the vocals, no dancing. That said, it's also _incredibly_ chaotic. Like. If Dreamcatcher weren't 5000% as talented as normal people, there's no way this performance would be good because they just _cannot_ be serious and keep messing around. Then there's this one from KBS that has the choreography (ua-cam.com/video/5dCCjjQUROA/v-deo.html). 15:30 "This is softer than I was anticipating..." I nearly spit out my drink lol. "Trap" took me a sec, but now it's a song I regularly listen to when I work out haha. (20:14 pff-- Same though.) DC hasn't done this song live in a really long time, but my favorite video is this one (ua-cam.com/video/-Dy9z0QXhmY/v-deo.html). They have no performances of this on any music shows that I can find on UA-cam. Everyone else in the comments has already pointed out the significance of the date 7/7 and the story, so all I'll add is that a version of this story exists in all three of the major powers in east Asia (Korea, China, Japan). This story is so well-known and important that there are festivals in honor of the lovers on 7/7 (in Japan and Korea, this is July 7th, but in China, it's the 7th day of the 7th month in the lunar calendar, which puts it in August usually). So, yeah, it's a big deal, but I also find it really funny that it'd be kind of like hearing someone make a bunch of Romeo & Juliet references to a reggae beat in terms of the cultural significance of the source material. (/end lecture) I already said I loved the video, but I feel bad ending my comment on a lecture, so... I'll say it again! Loved the video.
1:35 As well as the bright pink album cover (the Light version), there's also one with black packaging (Shade version). 8:55 To be fair, they also often make random animal noises themselves, so it's not entirely inappropriate... 😜 10:15 A perfectly sensible response. 11:45 Alice _is_ actually SuA's "English name"... 😜(along with Lily, Monica, Della, Rachel (which I think actually is Yoo's baptismal name, but I'm not 100%), Emma and Lucy) 14:20 Dami doesn't need to be _given_ the right; she simply _claims_ it. As she should. 14:50 Funny you should mention live performances, because there's one that you _have_ to check out, and that's their live performance at Super K-Pop on Arirang Radio; their live sets there are always fun, naturally, but once you've seen this, you'll never hear the original version the same way again (in the _best_ way 😉)... ua-cam.com/video/ACg6EQ5Ehxc/v-deo.html To be honest, I've seen plenty of people react to it on UA-cam, so I'm pretty sure it's safe for a normal reaction if you're of a mind to. 15:00 There _is_ actually a performance video for Trap, but uniquely, it's a VR video with 360 degree panning, so _ideally_ you'll want a VR headset, but it's not necessary. They're all gathered round a central mic/camera setup and approach the viewer as they perform. If you have the headset, you can just turn around, but even without, you can swipe around on a mobile device screen, or pan with a mouse on your PC, and see what everyone's doing at any given moment. It's a surreal experience, especially when turn round at the right moment and get a faceful of your bias... 😳ua-cam.com/video/y1v-Ef_JO1o/v-deo.html 15:10 The photos aren't specifically Trap-related; they're one of the sets of promo images from the album itself. 20:50 You _never_ have to worry about running out of content with Deukae. _Ever._ You may (temporarily) run out of new official songs eventually, but there's always a ton of Special Clips you probably haven't seen yet, as well as performances on _other_ channels and TV shows... and then of course there's all the mental behind-the-scenes activity, Notes and vlogs, and the fan content that keeps things ever-fresh. Trust me, I've been an InSomnia for about 4 1/2 years now, and I _know_ there's still stuff I either haven't had time to see yet, or in some cases haven't even _discovered..._ They're darned near _impossible_ to keep up with. 25:30 Honestly, whenever I listen to July 7th, I think of their first online concert "Streaming Into the Night", which took place in July 2020, when Dongie had been in China for over 8 months. When they performed this song toward the end of the show, when Dongie's "I feel so far away" lines came up, there was no attempt for any of the other members to cover her parts, they just let her audio play and cried her name... 😭 There are some good comments here about July 7th already, but here's a more detailed article about Chilseok and the story behind it: asiasociety.org/korea/chilseok-traditional-korean-valentine%E2%80%99s-day I... honestly have long since trying to pick favourite Dreamcatcher songs, but Trap has indeed always been way up there, and it's been criminally underperformed.
I recommend watching them sing Wonderland on the radio show. It was a chaotic mess with stunning live vocals 😂😍 they’ve definitely performed it live too! When you’re done with the albums you should react to their special clips :) they have a lot of really cool covers. Yoohyeon and JiU recently covered ‘Monster’ by Irene and Seulgi. It’ll keep you going with DC content haha. Siyeon’s ‘Speechless’ cover will have you, well, speechless 😆
dreamcatcher \:D/ as someone already commented, july 7th is a story about two lovers who can only see each other once a year on that date when the stars align. it's also considered the 'ballad' of the album and with all dc ballads is for/about insomnias since they most likely could only see their international insomnias once a year during their world tours.
omg Finally a fellow WHAT appreciator. Somehow this song is underrated within the fandom, eventho it is full banger. and 'This is my top 5' is literally me going trhu Dreamcatcher discography for the first time lmao. at this point Idk how many top 5s I have
The first time I heard Trap was last year when I received an occulus headset for Christmas. I was curious to see if Dreamcatcher had any VR content and that was the first thing that popped up. And as you can imagine...being attacked by DC in immersive VR is OVERWHELMING!!! Yet I'm totally guilty of willingly trapping myself in that same experience from time to time 😂. I hope they make more content like that again!
always nice to find another What fan, there's not too many of us. i put it in or near the top 5 of my DC songs, and either 1 or 2 for title tracks. my other favorite title track is Because. i mean i like literally all of the title tracks, but yeah, What and Because top the list for me.
Well, a new comeback and album is coming on the 11th. And there are still plenty of special clips you have not listens to yet. And other albums- Raid of Dream, Lose Myself, Escape the ERA, End of Nightmare, Prequal, Summer Holiday, Eclipse (Japanese album), the original Japanese songs from Beginning of the End Japanese album; I am unsure if you have done any of these on your Pareton since I don’t really use that unless I am watching some free content of other channels I fallow. I have the Shade version of this album.

Handong also started working on a Mandarin language version of the song back in the day.

Alone In The City is my favorite EP and What is my favorite DC title track. I cannot explain why exactly. 😂
First time I heard July 7th, it was a spiritual experience.
No idol can be that Talented ,
No Legend can be that Powerful ⚡,
She Truly is above Human ,
she is a Dreamcatcher .
Alone in The City is their first EP that open my eyes how versatil they are
July 7th was truly for the early Handong stans
This album is so amazing. Wonderland is one of my favorite songs I love it so much. Also handong owns July 7th

been OT7 for along time ,
i have a bias ,
by bias is Dreamcatcher ,
i remain OT7 for all time ⏳
You won't regret seeing all their discography, they don't have a single bad song. Thank you for your reaction to Dreamcatcher. We love it 💕

Alone in the City is definitely up there in my favourite Dreamcatcher album.
Every time i hear July 7th I just want to grab some beers and go chill on a beach somewhere.
Im so very exhausted but you made my day!!! Thanks for Dreamcatcher reaction🖤
The one-two combination of this being my favourite DC album/EP, along with my favourite DC song in Trap
Thank you so much for reacting to this album, Alone in the City is my all time favorite album of any korean group !
If I'm not mistaken this is the first album they started to really experiment with their sound, specially in bsides

There is a video for Trap, buuuttt you’ll want a VR headset and a swiveling chair.
i love your DC reactions :D i would love to see more since i have watched all your DC reactions :D
What is the song that led me to discover Dreamcatcher. It seems to be underappreciated by the fandom.

Yo. I missed your DC reactions its been a while.
Lol. I laughed when trap started playing and you said its a softer song 😂 its definitely a trap 😏
Its been a while. Missed your DC reaction.
Your back in dreamcatcher i miss your reaction
Since you asked for more things to react to: There is also a shorter self-made MV for July 7th. 😉 ua-cam.com/video/TtwxuM1JW4A/v-deo.html
