The way I’ve been WAITING for you to react to this album. It’s one of my favourites albums so I’m glad u reacted to it. Change is my favourite song on this album
Can't believe i only realise now that, in 'Change' live clip, they never look at the camera, so we just see them like if we are some kind of papparazzi, just catching a picture of them, while they're still alone. This album is really a full life experience story, related to so many people. And it's quite funny to see that since most of them, like Soyeon, told they never experienced a love relationship, but they still manage to write and sing such a story.
Regarding the song "Change", I have the strong sense that they are singing about the pain and change caused by Soojin being forced to leave the group. When I think of this possible meaning, the lyrics really seem to make a lot of sense. They want to live in the past happiness, we never see their pain, nothing lasts forever, etc. Just my current interpretation.
I BURN and I LOVE are gidle's best albums for different reasons. I BURN is just a work of art, consistent in its sound, lyrically great. I LOVE is esencially a concept album about love with a story that follows all its songs. The creativity needed to do both of these shouldnt be overlooked. Dont get me wrong, Tomboy, Queencard, Super Lady and Klaxon are nice, but when the years pass, people will remember Nxde and Hwaa for how artistic and revolutionary they were.
For me, I feel like Dark (X-File) is where they have a person their interested in, leading them in a dark path that may not be morally right, making them need to erase any traces or information about it. In sculpture, it's basically the opposite of nxde, where they value their relationship more than their self, they make there selves into the perfect partner for the person, which maybe shows that their desperate for that person's love and attention, able to sacrifice their own identity to achieve it, though in the end, all of their effort was not worth it since they still broke up, which leads to Reset, where they are recovering from the break up, wanting to start from the beginning, erasing their memories about the person who broke their heart. But you cannot completely forget about the whole relationship, in Change, their reminiscing the happy times during the of their love, wanting to go back to those times. Though they still learned to move on, but they don't completely erase their memories, making it a way for them to learn from their mistakes and continue to live. In Love, they found the true meaning of love, Self Love since if you can't love yourself, how can you love others? They've completely move on from their relationship and just treating it as a little joke, and their basically thankful for the break up, since they managed to find their real selves.
DARK (X-File) and Change are about Soojin. It makes even more sense when you watch the MVs. I recommend the channel 'woo' if you want to know the details. But to just say, Soojin is the X-File, she is the truth that has to be "killed" that GIDLE cannot speak or leave any trace about because of disgusting CUBE. And in the MV you can see them be depressed and cling onto each other because they are all they have (important to note that Shuhua isn't physically touching any member in the MV, because the closest person she was with left the group). Also in the MV you can see the article saying GIDLE are in a dark stage and if they will disband, and a rumor, this is all about GIDLE and Soojin and things that actually happened in real life. It's confirmed that Soojin is the X-File because in the Revenge MV (the same MV that has Soojin's birthday), the case file is called "G-File". So what does G mean? Soyeon is the one to actually create the name "(G)I-DLE", and she confirmed that the "G" in the name represents 6 girls. So when Soojin left that's when GIDLE started going by IDLE a lot (like in the TOMBOY mv, Soyeon is crossing out the G). And to quickly comment on Change being about Soojin, when Soojin left the girls were so depressed and did not know if they were still going to be a group, they almost disbanded. They went on an almost 1 year hiatus, Yuqi went to China, Shuhua went to Taiwan, they stopped talking to each other. Minnie had to comment on Yuqi's instagram post to call her (Yuqi was writing some really depressing and concerning things www.reddit.com/r/GIDLE/comments/q7xs4k/211014_yuqi_instagram_update/ ). I could keep on going, there were so many things, Minnie went on live saying she wasn't happy. But basically with all that information in mind, the lyrics of Change makes a million times more sense than anything else. And the reason why the album is named 'I love' is about self-love yes, but it also has ties to Soojin as her biggest tattoo (along the back of her arm) is "self-love is the best love". Just remember it was confirmed by Soyeon that I love was written at the same time as I NEVER DIE, so right after Soojin leaving, and you can hear the pain and hurt that Soyeon, Minnie and Yuqi writes in this album (both instrumentally and lyrically) same as in I NEVER DIE (with VILLIAN DIES, POLAROID and ESCAPE being about Soojin). And no offense, but making the entire album about a love story is really reductive and undersells the artistic genius of Soyeon, Minnie and Yuqi and the deep meanings they present in their songs. Not saying that they aren't any love songs, but DARK (X-File) and Change are definitely about Soojin. Also, Sculpture is about the idol-fan relationship and how parasocial and harmful it is. GIDLE feel like they are just a sculpture, just a thing to be molded by the expectations of their fans and the kpop industry, but they still want the love they receive so they still remain idols anyway. It is a very deep, dark and depressing song, the whole album is, because like I said before (I was a fan during this time) Soojin leaving was so awful and unfair. The girls sounded angry in I NEVER DIE, but now they sound depressed in I love, it's like the stages of grief.
Yuqi released her new solo song called Radio (Dum-Dum) two days ago on her birthday alongside a music video for it as a gift to the fans. The video is really cool and so is the song. So catchy, Yuqi sounds and looks amazing. Sadly it's not on Spotify yet. But you need to check it out
Yessss, this album is super interesting, Sculpture is one of the most uniquely composed pop songs I've heard. Also, when you react to Miyeon's solo album, I recommend doing it on a rainy day, if possible. It really gets me in the feels. especially the last track.
yes pls react to I-DLE crack compilations, cause all their personalities are just as good as their music. For me they are 100% one of the funniest groups out there. One of my fav compilation videos is prob. '(G)I-DLE moments that dont feel real' by Alydle. This channel made a lot of amazing crack videos about them and I can only suggest them all to you. There are other videos from other channels like "(G)I-DLEs FOREIGN LINE almost getting kicked out for 11 minutes straight...' by lovinsoojin which are also amazing videos and this channel did a bunch of them as well
I really, REALLY loved your commentary on this entire album, you're the perfect person to get into Idle's storytelling. Especially during Sculpture your reasoning for the line "it will be easier to lose me rather than lose you" was so hard hitting :')
Thank you for this reaction, I'm glad I could experience your journey with you, I LOVE all your episodes with Gidle. I LOVE and I BURN are imo their best albums so I'm happy your last album catch up video is with one of them. Idk if you'd like to react to it, or maybe just watch by yourself but I really recommend Lee Mujin service episodes with them, they all were on the show, only Shuhua wasn't. And for some fun shows, not related to singing, I think Shuhua's "Workdol" and Soyeon's "Chef Sso's country kitchen" on Pixid are the best. Can't wait for next episodes with Gidle ❤
You're right and if you want to see the real mind if Yuqi, you should see her on the Survivel show, she's never give up even the show end she ask them for doing again even us not in the show and she did success mission.
Thanks for reaching and showing your love. I understand that all of their songs aren't for everyone but I'm happy to see when people can take something away either if it's the song, message, or just a fun time. 💜
Thank you so much for these gidle reactions! I never planned to get into the group but I was curious about them and watched your first reaction to them…. Less just say I watched all the reactions and totally fell for the group!
I’ve noticed you’re a nail girlie. I’m one too, haha. You know soyeon is also telling everyone how they can do their nails. I think it was for the Tomboy video she made Yuqi change hers
I think it is not sad.....the whole album is about exposing your inner vulnerability so to accept oneself. And that will involving showing a lot of imperfections of them, the situations they were in or their broken hearts...However, showing that means they took the positive route of their life. So...not sad, but somthing positive.
Minnie performed CHANGE at iDOL World tour 2924 solo concert in the US. Did you get a chance to go to the concert? But if you live in Canada, you might not be able to go to their concert, right?
i think its in reverse order because nxde is the resolution, the ending, but its also the center point of the album, so it has to be the opening, the first song, at the same time the end of the story.
it's always been my thoughts that the toxic partner they are getting away from is actually the general k-pop fandom. Being what they demand in order to gain their love.
@@laurenclaire The best art should always be open to interpretation. This is why you always see artists resist explaining meanings when asked for them. Finding your own meaning is how you form a personal connection to the art.
especially because it was k-netz and general fandom in Korea that abused and wanted Soojin out of the group. So Soyeon and the rest of IDLE probably held a lot of resentment, I don't blame them.
You are missing so much context. I love was written at the same time as I NEVER DIE, so after Soojin leaving. The girls are angry, hurt and depressed, and it shows in their songwriting (both lyrically and instrumentally). Change and DARK (X-File) are about Soojin, if you're interested, I left more information in a reply of a comment in this comment section. And the reason why the album is named 'I love' is about self-love yes, but it also has ties to Soojin as her biggest tattoo (along the back of her arm) is "self-love is the best love". Also it makes sense that you get the same feeling for DARK (X-File) and VILLIAN DIES considering they are both about Soojin. And just a correction: It was Yuqi doing the composing for DARK (X-File) not Soyeon, Yuqi did production and lyrics for the song, but also Soyeon did lyrics too (her rap and other parts). If anyone is interested in the source of that information, it's from the girls themselves in the DARK (X-File) making of the music video.
change is THE bside
true
The moment I heard "Change" is the moment I fell in love with them.
The way I’ve been WAITING for you to react to this album. It’s one of my favourites albums so I’m glad u reacted to it. Change is my favourite song on this album
Change too for me.

Oh I'd never thought about that 🥹
Oh wow that's a great observation!
Change and DARK (X-File) aren't love songs though, they're about Soojin.
