It’s crazy I’m from Texas and have always listened to classic country music etc.. and this song was released in the late 80s and I never knew who REK was until about 1998 .. WTF 👀👀
Great performance by Robert Earl Keen and the band. They all look like they are having a great time. Went to see them April 10, 2019 in Raleigh at the Lincoln Theatre. It was a joy being there.
Good God Bless America! If that don't get your foot tappin', your body a wigglin' and or a jigglin' (as the case may be), then you better check for a pulse!
I've caught a couple of R E K live video's recently BUT this one R O C K S...... W O W..... Can hardly wait for it to end so I can re-play it. LOL..... I bought a compilation with this, Guy Clark - Desperados Waiting For A Train, TISH HINOJOSA - "By The Rio Grande" & "Louisiana Road Song" and a number of other fantastic Texas Singer Songwriter's. Maybe Billy Joe Shaver & Chris Wall, two more favourite's along with Tony Joe White, dodging Troll's who like R&R. LOL GREAT MUSIC FROM ALL OF THEM. TRUST A 75 YEAR OLD BRIT TO KNOW................
Saw REK, Guy Clark and Joe Ely doing an acoustic show at the Fine Line in Mpls on a January night in 1995 when it was 26 below F. Only six of us in the audience and two were a couple neckin' in the back of the room. Small room in the back. Was like a private show, didn't make requests because they were all great songs.
that is a GREAT STORY!, sometimes it is easy to assume that Musicians have "The Life", but you painted the picture perfectly! Not every nite is a ROCK STAR NITE! - Consider yourself blessed to have caught that show!. OBTW- favorite song of each- 1- REK- Corpus Christi Bay 2. Guy- OLD FRIENDS 3. J. Ely- Guyo del Cielo
Holy smokes! Who was that guy on banjo? He tore it up! And tbe guitar player! Omg! Love the PRS guitar, and he tore it up too! That would’ve been a cool show to see!
Rich Brotherton on guitar. I believe he has since retired which is a shame at least last time i saw them he wasnt there. Hes absolutely amazing and easily the best guitar player ive seen in person and criminally underrated.
REK music- slide into it and grab onto it. he will grab your heart and your soul! Give it time! Maybe it helps growing up on Corpus Christi Bay or TEXAS for that matter! For anyone who has taken a row boat across the RIO Grande, there is no need to explain! Long Live Boguillas pre 9-11!!!!!!!!! REK- See you in FT. SMITH, ARKANSAS!
Grant Cole thanks for that! I tried looking it up and had no luck, although I did come across the collaboration between Grohl and Zac Brown Band so that makes sense. I'd must watch the Sonic Highways episode on that song and see if it's referenced. Thanks again!

And people wonder why I say rap is crap and I don’t like today’s bubble gum pop it’s because they have never feasted their ears on bands like REK where real musicians play the ever living hell out of real instruments and they don’t need no stinking auto-tune.
If there is anything better than this on UA-cam, I haven't found it yet. The guitar, The banjo, and the steel pedal....Just sublime
Dude check out Chandler Brown and his mash up of nutshell and broken window serenade
The Banjo dude rips it ! F in ROCKs . Thank you .
One of my all time favorites Rock On Boys...
It is iconic. Way back when...😎🤘🍺
I never heard this until yesterday, Probably listened to it 15 times since then. It is so cool maybe the best song I ever heard.
Joe Ely does a great version too.
Check out the version by The Highwaymen.
Have you heard their Christmas song? Merry Christmas from the Family. Could become your new favorite!
@@wcarfagno Don't waste your time. It's tame compare to this.

That show was my 3rd and last of his concerts.I'm glad I was able to see him live.
One of the finest songwriters and master showman.

I am not well versed in REK's music, though I'm sure enjoying it now I've found him. My favorite is Shades of Gray. So far.

A Moment...
Holy Shit!
Who is the drummer? I didn't here him called out.
The Mighty Duck.
Bryan Duckworth
Lot of work on the drums. Great!
Makes a Victoria boy smile. Any way a good ol boy can pop a top with ya maybe hit a couple strings on a guitfiddle.
Big
I miss the fiddle.
Get back to Atlanta Sir!
9:48 this is the same riff as the start of Congregation by Foo Fighters. Anyone care to shed a light on whether this is from another song too?
Grant Cole thanks for that! I tried looking it up and had no luck, although I did come across the collaboration between Grohl and Zac Brown Band so that makes sense. I'd must watch the Sonic Highways episode on that song and see if it's referenced. Thanks again!
You mean the Interstate Love Song riff?
Fucking right, that's how it's done boys!🦅🍻
REK, no play
Austin City Limits outside? It looks more like SXSW.
Gail Williams exactly what I was thinking I was at Austin city limits about two weeks ago and It was in inside
ACL Music Festival is a two weekend outdoor show held in Oct. at Zilker Park, Austin, Texas. Since 2002.

Drummer has stamina.
No
Sherry was a waitress. 😊😊😊
he did it too fast, he kinda ruined it for me
It's a story... This is horrible
Always tell a story. He could not wait to get off stage.
Won't ever compare to the highway men no bass no Waylon, Chris, Willie, or Johnny SADDLETRAMP!!!
Who do you think wrote the song YOU FUCKING MORON.
