Can’t believe this was Radwanska’s only grand slam final. Definitely one of the best players to never win a grand slam, if not the best. On a side note, Serena’s serve was absolutely on fire throughout this tournament and her outfit looked so flattering on her.

She didn't modify her game. Stayed too passive. Imagine if she had a bit more power and aggressive mindset combined with her court sense and craftiness could have won a couple of slams. Plus i think Dementieva was the other best player who didnt win a slam

    • @volcrazy89
      @volcrazy89 3 роки тому +13

Definitely not as good as Dementieva, who was one of the few players during the time of the Williams sisters that could stay with them on groundstrokes. She definitely could've won multiple slams had she improved her serve earlier in her career.
Radwanska reminded me a lot of Jankovic, who also only made one grand slam final, when she, too, lost to Serena -- at the 2008 US Open. She was kind of between Jankovic and Capriati for me in terms of style and physical attributes. A lot of people compared her to Hingis, too.

Radwanska sometimes depends too much on her opponent to make errors, unfortunately for her in GS the good players like Azarenka and Serena dn make that much errors so she din do well in GS.

Radwanska is the most frustrating player I've ever watched. She was just never aggressive enough. People say she was crafty and had finess, but finess and court craftiness alone are not gonna win you a slam (esp in this era)

@Robin Vaeyens *Pushed* her to three sets is stretching, practically every Radwanska’s service game was under pressure. She did well to wrestle out the second set from defeat when Serena was leading by a set and a break in the second set but at no point at all in the match you feel Serena is being pushed

Also it’s worth noting that Radwanska did beat Serena in Hopman Cup in 2015-sure it’s an exhibition, but one Serena still takes very seriously as she considered those loses “real” whenever someone brought up that she was undefeated before Madrid 2015. And that was the only time Aga ever beat Serena.

I am a massive fan of Serena Williams and the 2012 Wimbledon Singles title will always be one of my favourite of Serena's Grand Slam Singles titles.
Many people who knew me told me she would never win another Grand Slam title to stop believing that she would and I told those people that Serena would win the Singles title that year at Wimbledon I knew before the tournament that she would win it and she did win it in both Singles and Doubles, I actually said to my mum 3 months before 'Serena is going to win Wimbledon this year I know that she will do it'. The look on those people's faces who doubted it was priceless and I jumped for joy when she held that trophy.

This is the best woman single final of the decade, the only match played in 3 set, also one of the best finals of 20th century.
Aga played so well, so crafty, so intelligent to push Serena to her extraordinary level. Serena were too good against other women at that period so what Aga did was too spectacular but it was not lucky enough to win.

Actually she had her best chance a year later in 2013, when she faced Lisicki in the SF and lost after a very close match in 3 sets (I think it was 7-9 in the last set). Had she won she would've played Bartoli in the Final and their H2H was at the time 5-0 for Radwanska. I'm sure it would've been an easier final for Radwanska than the one against Serena and she would've been a clear favorite... I figured with her game she would've been better suited for clay, but she never made it past the quarters at Rolland Garos. I'm surprised shew as able to take a set from Serena here, but through the years she gave Serena some tough matches at various tournaments and the YEC, although I don't think she ever beat Serena.

For example Swiatek now is more difficult even though they have same roots and people around them...Swiatek plays within the same philosophy Radwanska did...but to me their great difference is on serve.. Swiatek s serve is way more efficient and difficult to return... but as always slices and drop shots are more frequent from Polish tenis logic.

Wtedy Aga szla.

What about Sharapova, Vika and Muguruza? or you just have a problem with Serena? It’s not her fault if Aga doesn’t have any power or doesn’t have another game plan. It went to 3 sets because Serena lost focus in the 2nd set and also to give something to Ago to improve her resume if not Serena would end it in 2 sets.

@@luciansanchez8100 she is one of the classiest, if not , the classiest out there. the intense passion for tennis inside her is just too much to handle for dim witted people. accept that and respect her.
