I never knew she said that. I hate it when greats like Roger are written off too soon and are called to "retire". I truly hope he pulls off one more major, preferably the US Open this year as I'll be there. Thanks for the info....
Please remember Martina's contribution to this sport, and what a legend she is. Roger himself admitted that he may never retain the number one ranking. Had the great man played Rafa, or Novak in the Final that year it could have been a very different story. We should not use the achievements of players to condemn others. Rafa, Novak and Fed are true greats of the game. For Murray to win slams in their era, is an achievement in its own right.
Svend Bent he did indeed but Novak's performance in that match was less than his usual standard. I have a great passion and love for the Federer Express and have a tattoo celebrating his 17th Slam. But his defeat to Safin in the Australian Open 2005, and Raonic defeat last year at Wimbledon lesser accomplished players, conveys the unpredictable nature of sport. I didn't think myself he would return to number 1. Thank God I was wrong.
Tony O' Reilly Safin was supremely talented though... inconsistent underachiever. And Fed didn't play to his level in Wimbledon but he obviously still had injury problems on top of the break from tennis he had just held. But now to the more current question. Can he beat Stan and Rafa back to back? Unless of course Grigor decides to spoil the party in which case Roger will have to beat a young version of himself in the final ;=)
Svend Bent I think he will beat Stan the man based on their h2h on hard courts. I think Rafa will beat baby fed and get to the final. Rafa v Fed will go five sets and the slower court under the lights will favour a Nadal victory. However if Roger increases his 1 serve percentage to 65% and reduces his unforced errors so prevalent in Zverev match he will win. Perhaps the pain of 2008, Wimbledon and 2009 Australian Open is clouding my judgment and dampening my expectations. However he is who is and he has always surpassed my expectations. E.g. his 49 QF's and 41 semifinal appearances at grand slams.
Tony O' Reilly Remember that the surface this year is faster than usual which will be a plus for Fed (he even commented on that).. Also, since Fed got his bigger racket they have only faced off once in Basel (where Fed won, although it was on a faster court). I think that bigger racket head size may help Fed with the high backhands. Anyway, it's too hard to call at this point. We'll just have to wait and see. There are no bad final possibilities left though with Raonic out of the tournament. The only problem I see is if Grigor reaches the final and gets nervous and therefore gets blasted. I think Rafa will take care of him before he can get that far though. Crossing my fingers for Roger ;)
Hey Svend and RF-D2 well argued you were both spot on your assessments - I can't get the site to allow me to reply to you directly. It did allow me to reply directly to Svend a couple of times initially but won't allow me to do so since. But well done guys!!! The 18 time Grandslam champion would be very impressed. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆😎
“He’s getting a bit tired, I hope it doesn’t start to rain now.” And then it rained. Props to Federer for dealing anything the rain. We all know Murray’s Sampras like serving prowess and how that could impact the match! Hardest Wimbledon final he ever played and he won it!
Navratilova begrudgenly gives Federer his props, and accuses him of being drunk. Like she could beat Federer. Navratilova could not get one point off Fed in a five set match.
Martina - 'have you ever been drunk?'
Roger- 'oh absolutely!'
Brilliant!
Great upload, it's pretty sweet to see the uncut version!
Roger looking classy af
Love to see Roger and Martina. I remember her dispatching opponents in under 40 minutes. Legends, both.
RF-D2 Your spot on he has nothing left to prove. Both before and after his winning performance in Melbourne.
Même si je ne comprends pas l anglais, les images parlent, j adore 👏👏👏❤️😍🎾😀
Love this video of the greatest tennis player of all time and Roger Federer.
My two all time favourite's ❤️❤️😍😍🙏🙏

Damn! the part before and after the formal interview is even better!

Well... he did beat Novak in the semis.

The Great champion 🏆
Great footage man
Not seen this interview before I remember watching the final and Murray broke down during his interview with Sue and started crying 🙁💦

Ah I've been looking for the uncut version of this haha
thank you for showing the before and after, haha
thanks a lot for the vid man...amazing
What was that sound martina made at the start?
“He’s getting a bit tired, I hope it doesn’t start to rain now.” And then it rained. Props to Federer for dealing anything the rain. We all know Murray’s Sampras like serving prowess and how that could impact the match! Hardest Wimbledon final he ever played and he won it!
Murray missed that shot on match point while Djokovic made it and turned the match around in 2019.
Navratilova begrudgenly gives Federer his props, and accuses him of being drunk. Like she could beat Federer. Navratilova could not get one point off Fed in a five set match.
Martina understands Federer has been drinking; he's giggly and she can probably smell it on his breath. It's hardly an accusation.
Lol... Martina said back in the early 90s that women have no shot against male players so you were speaking out of your butt when you wrote this.....
Smart mart..I'm #
huh? you are not accurate in your assessment.
