    "The way your house is positioned is more important than how big your lot is." THIS. My last place had bedroom and living room windows that faced west and the sun came in like a laser during the hottest part of the day and well into the evenings during the summers. I had to get black out curtains to keep the temperatures down in the afternoons. Now I'm in a place where my bedroom windows face north and the difference is huge. I don't need a big lot, I need windows that don't look directly into my neighbor's and that don't have the sun on them most of the day.

    Loved the show today. Your videos and guests have already taught me, no west facing lanais, and think about kissing lanais. You guys keep pumping the info! I really look forward to them. Oh, as a Realtor, I'm often told NO HOAs/Restrictions. So then I ask, "Ok, so it's acceptable with you if your neighbor parks his Septic Tank pumper in the driveway all of the time?" Sure changes a lot of minds. LOL!!!

    Wow; you got the New Englanders! I am in Massachusetts. Born here. The traffic is worse than Los Angeles.
    We live in a 55 plus community of all separate homes. On 4000 square feet. Why do I need land at my age? Love the restrictions. I live in a village; don’t want it looking like a commercial lot. The Villages sounds like a fun place. But the heat would kill me, and I am used to accessing top notch medical care, which you don’t have.

I have one request now, I would like to know what is the daily routine of a villager, since most of them are retired . So how they spend their time on a daily basis. This will give me an idea of what I will do going over there. I have many more things to know, but lets start with this one. So sorry to know that Gizmo is no more, I don't know how you are coping up without him. All the best. Great questions, great show, as always. Deed restrictions, I cannot imagine what The Villages would be like if there were not deed restrictions. Sure, in general folks, don’t like to be restricted. But it’s not hard to understand the purpose of these restrictions, and what they mean to maintaining the integrity of The Villages and the values of our properties. I know that my neighbors are happy we have them. I have always wanted to have a blaze orange house that matches my hunting gear. But I’ve yet to live somewhere I can do that. And make no mistake, my wife will make sure we never moved to such a place. Who am I kidding, I will be a villager for the rest of my life.

    No fences is a great call !! It prevents the barking dogs next door going out their doggie doors with little supervision.

    Having a summer/winter home to escape to is a great thing!
    The insurance rates have doubled though, be careful.
    They do need to leave more green space which Nocatee Master did imho

    Thanks for the video. Questions for you all, it seems a common topics is about the crowds/increased congestion during snowbird season. Can you give some more context around this? For example people say restaurant reservations are hard to get, but what time frames are people talking about? 4pm 5pm, 6pm 7pm? The same question regarding executive golf? Do you have any insight into the clubs vs enrichment programs? Using a "craft" focused club like photograph or painting as an example, I'm guessing the "craft" enrichment programs offer a common expectation of class instruction. Do the clubs do similar class instruction?

    Regarding Wayne and Brenda’s comments: Two things struck me - They have/had a neighbor that had an issue with their backyard landscaping project that wasn’t approved by the ARC. He indicated that he wanted the neighbor to approach him directly but shouldn’t they have ensured their contractor had the approval from the ARC first? It is ultimately the responsibility of the homeowner to have ARC approval and not rely on slick sales practices. Anonymity promotes reporting and rule following. If he’d gotten approval first, the issue would not have progressed. Rules for thee - not for me! Shame on him for agreeing to the rules upon the closing of his home and following them only when convenient. He wants only neighbors within the community to confront neighbors with potential violations directly? That would probably cause the motto of The Villages to change to from „Florida‘s Friendliest Hometown“ immediately. Just follow the rules, policies and procedures you agreed to. If you see a violation, you make the choice to report it or not. It seems simple to me. Also, I love how the full time residents blame the snow-birds for traffic and the snow-birds blame the renters. What‘s next - renters blaming Lifestyle Visitors and them blaming locals? Jerry and Linda, my husband and I enjoy your content so much, we’ve been subscribers and regular viewers for a long time - we can’t wait to see you when we get there!

    • @JERRYANDLINDA

      You make some good points but I'm not sure you understood that when they bought the home that was already there. A real estate agent listed the home and a different real estate agent sold them the home and no one told them that that was out of compliance. When you have so many things to do and on your mind and to check and to recheck sometimes it slips by. This very topic is up for huge debate in the villages right now. There are many properties that were not in compliance but sold by villages agents. Many feel the agents should have known the home was out of compliance and told the prospective buyers.

      Thank you for your reply! As always, you make an excellent point! I agree. The resale homes should probably be certified as deed compliant by the ARC prior to resale and disclosed by Realtors. There’s a fix for every issue, this is not only way to address that situation, just one off the top of my head. THIS IS WHY WE LOVE YOUR CONTENT! You provide thoughtful, insightful and respectful interaction and clarification. I don’t normally make comments, thanks for taking the time to respond. I hope Wayne and Brenda‘s issue has been settled with no hard feelings and minimal cost (if any).

    Hi Jerry and Linda, love your show. Question, my husband is a carpenter, and we would like to find work for him, he does everything, from decks to remodeling or just everyday small-time work that's needed, I will be looking for cleaning jobs/organization. Is there a need for this in the villages? We are coming down as snow birds next month.

    I enjoy watching your channel but there are many reasons we won’t move to Florida barring unexpected circumstances . As far as the Villages go one of the things we wouldn’t care for are the deed restrictions. We don’t mind if our neighbors have pink flamingos in their yard or RVs in there driveway. In return we don’t want to be told what to do in our yard either. Of course the risk of that is you do occasionally have people with cars on block. We had one neighbor who tried to put in a native landscape. It turned into a weed patch. They eventually went back to grass but for awhile some of neighbors were getting a little upset.😂

    Kevin H. 3:17 Hello, I've been watching your videos and really enjoy them. I'm planning a lifestyle visit soon and hope to see you two eventually. Is there allot of classic cars in the Villages?

      There are lots of classic cars here. And, classic golf carts too.

    One gentleman mentioned gravel issues in some villas… have heard it before but not sure what the issue is?

    • @JERRYANDLINDA
      @JERRYANDLINDA  3 місяці тому +1

      You need to follow the deed restrictions. Some people did not know that their homes were out of compliance when they bought them. Now they have been reported and ordered tordered to remove gravel.

      @@JERRYANDLINDA ahhhh. I was wondering that as I was looking at the villas and hearing rumbling of issues. I am surprised they are not made to fix before selling. Thank youuu!!

    I know that you re-painted your house- are there a set of approved colors or do you just ask the ARC about whatever you are proposing?

      There are approved colors but you can request approval for a color. It may or may not be granted.

    Curious why did you interview people who don’t live inside the bubble?

      They came in and wanted to talk, we wanted to get everyone's opinion. Although they do not live inside the bubble, they visit and have opinions.

    Very good someone made the comments of having weird colors like Pink here on Amelia Iskand a lot of houses are really colorful like purple shell pink sky blue etc I personally like it it reminds me of me of old Fl And it’s really cheery on a dreary day but I bet there people can and would get out of hand to me the houses are no closer than they are I n my neighborhood back home.

    The worse thing I hear and see is that they don't require the owners to live full time, would eliminate renters and whole lot of extra traffic in the winter. For that reason I'd never move there.

    Let me get this straight Wisconsin couple: you don't get ARC approval and neither does your landscaper and it's your neighbor's fault you had to redo it to ARC?😅😅
    And you like ARC for house colors...shesh😂
    Time to apologize to your neighbor for blaming them for your lack of responsibility!!!😮

    • @JERRYANDLINDA
      @JERRYANDLINDA  3 місяці тому +1

      Maybe you should watch it again and then you might consider apologizing to the couple from Wisconsin.

    • @rea8755
      @rea8755 3 місяці тому +1

      Bothered by neighbors?
      1."Absolutely"...
      2. Landscaper said he would get "ARC approval and he never did"
      (Guessing Homeowner couldn't check up approval like neighbor did😅!🎉
      3. "So, it had to get torn up to some degree, all due to our neighbor behind us".
      3A) It got redone according to ARC😂 not neighbor.
      3B) perhaps landscaper encroached on neighbors property then got snippy with said neighbor who then called ARC🎉.
      Therefore, I still stand by the my statement the Tomahawk, Wisconsin people should apologize/ mea culpa / forgive and forget. Life is to short!
      Soooo, what did I miss?
      Ps not salty when facty!
