This is very beautiful here. Lots of history. I love that vaults that is grown over with the trees on top beautiful. I love the Graves and vaults in the old Abby but this Abby is still beautiful if you think it is 500 years old. Gorgeous ❤❤
Beautiful Abby, the tree is stunning, magical! Would really be interested in knowing the backstory of why that tree was planted there. Imagining how many hands touched it in solemn reverence. It's a beautiful testimony of the resilience of Yew trees. If that tree could talk... 😊 TY for this amazing tour! If I was ever lucky enough to be able to visit Ireland, I would make that one of my stops!
Another epic video. You only seem to bring out the very best these days Cathal. A simply gorgeous day to show the beauty of this Abbey. Many of the headstones were very readable as if they were decades instead of hundreds years old. I will add this to my list when coming back next year. I never saw this one years ago. Thank you for taking the time to bring us all the beauty that is Ireland. 🇮🇪 Erin Go Bragh!
I got say this place was outstanding, Beautiful tree, so much beauty! Only part that got to me knowing these people had a life and we will never know everything about each person, but a very well updated and took care of place of rest! May they all r.i.p. A great video! Have a wonderful day! ❤️🇺🇸
A superb video, one of your best. The Abby or Friary is in remarkable condition. The grave vaults and graveyard were also remarkable. Great work, thank you so very much. Your Georgia, USA friends.
@@GraveVisitations especially the 500 year old yew tree, that part of the Abvey reminded me of Nevers, the place in France where St. Bernadette lays in a glass coffin!
Beautiful graveyard and Abbey! The tree in the Abbey looks like it has a personality. Tree growing over the vault was amazing. So many vaults. Great video Grave👏🏻👍🏻💕
Wow the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen What wonderful construction considering when it was built That tree is amazing twisting up towards the light Brilliant video ❤
6:35 sembra che si sente un strano rumore come una voce scarnata?! Proprio intorno al sepolcro coperto dal muschio ! Abbazia è meravigliosa ❤️ Grazie GV ❤❤❤ per questo video !
WOW! What an interesting video this was. Muckross Abbey just, wow! You know I was thinking as you walked through the abbey, The modern buildings of today will be reduced to dust in 500 years and the Muckross Abbey will still be standing there.
Thank you so much for the tour of the Abbey and the grounds they were very beautiful. I believe that that long building part that you walked in that was dark but had windows on the side, I bet that was where they had church services for the Friars 0f the Abbey.
Another Great Video out of the fire we got a new house closing on May 25 or earlier we bought it will be good to get our large dogs Siberian Husky and a yellow Lab and cats back we only lost one cat but she was 26 years old the two boys are doing fine
Wonderful thank you. And the name "Sugrue (/ʃəˈɡruː/) is an anglicized form of the Irish Language surname Ó Siocfhradha, meaning "descendant of Siocfhradh", or Ó Siochrú the modern Gaelic equivalent of Ó Seochrú, which in turn is a Gaelic version of the old norse German given first name Siegfried, meaning "victory and peace"."
@@GraveVisitations I enjoy yours videos and I also enjoy Sue videos, your country and surrounding areas are very beautiful, thanks for all of the time and history, my ancestors come from Ireland and England, two places I've always wanted to visit, and now my health isn't at it's best right now, but who knows maybe one day I will get the chance, my families names are Tingle and Murphy, have a blessed evening and thank you for commenting back.
Did you and Sue notice the atmosphere of the Abbey? Even when there are a number of people there, it is quiet. Everyone speaks so softly. I just have to go back there. Cee from the little haunted cottage in ireland 💚💚💚🍀🍀🍀
With every grave visitation there should be a prayer recitation to your hosts at the graveyard- that evens up the books since you're benefitting from the display of what was bestowed to them
Do you think I have the time to say prayers at every place in the country? I keep these people's memories circulating by saying the names out loud even after 100 years.
Superb - utterly amazing- I wonder if you've ever been to county Antrim. This is where my Scotch-Irish family, the Craigs who came to U.S. in 1799 lived. I'd love to know more about them.
Abbeys are complexes with varied centers. Each center is designed for a particular purpose like grooming, living, community gathering, praying and other functions.
gorgeous abbey, and I would have sworn that 500-year-old tree was sculpted if you hadn't said it was real. Random thing, the depiction of the bird over its nest might have been a depiction of a pelican. In medieval times the pelican was thought to pierce its chest to feed its young from its blood and was used as a symbol of self-sacrifice for one's family and countrymen.
This place is absolutely stunning, enchanted, historic and Epic discoveries
This has to be the most beautiful place you've shown us!! The way the sun shone, the age of the abbey, the moss, the trees, it is stunning. Thank you!

Beautiful graveyard. Poor mouse. Bless his wee soul.

No idea Ann would be nice tho
Another one ive missed, like Christmas, you never know what youre going to find😊
Iam surprised the tree didn't crush the coffins 😲
Some do
I remember that movie, Darby
Great movie 🇮🇪
That name at 15:52 is actually Sugrue. Apparently it it's quite numerous in Kerry.
What is the difference between an abbey and a church? Very cool to see these cemeteries. Nicely done!
Abbeys are complexes with varied centers. Each center is designed for a particular purpose like grooming, living, community gathering, praying and other functions.
Kieron Moore took the part of that name in the film Darby o gill 20:10
Interesting Mary. I remember Albert Sharpe as Darby
