- I have never heard cab car horns as unique, distinctive, musical, or idiosyncratic as the Virginia Railway Express Nathan C5A-CWP horns. These maverick horns stand out from other passenger railroad cab cars. Other carriers may have nice sounding K5LA horns (ACE has the best and richest), others may have bland cab car horns like Caltrain and Metro North, and there are the ad-nauseum LIRR cab car horns. Putting it all together, these VRE horns are a one-of-a-kind. Every horn sounds different. Some are just plain stand alone beautiful! The people who tune these horns for VRE show great imaginative potential which can hopefully make VRE an even greater system in the future. I must really love the sound of these horns for me to get up with the roosters to hear them.

V715 and v716 is my favorites
Out of all of those shots, 1:50 is by far my favorite horn. I like the outro rfw horn as well. Good stuff.
Hey RRFHG. Good stuff. I've lived jn the DMV for 15 years and have yet to ride the VRE. That will change soon😉
It’s a good system, but it’s pretty much rush-hour only for now. You can do a reverse commute ride to Broadrun Airport. Do you live in the department of motor vehicles?
The department of motor vehicles🤣Good one @@3985uprr 🤣
That's a great point@@3985uprr . The VRE is nothing like your Metro North, LIRR or NJT systems run all week.
Department of motor vehicles@@3985uprr 🤣
0:06 just a heads up, whenever you get that glare/bloom effect, usually it’s just finger prints on the camera lens (I’m also just assuming you’re using your phone to make these videos). Either way, love the content and the gorgeous morning fog!
That syndrome occasionally haunts me. I always have to keep up with that. Thanks much
Do you know what kind of engine that the VRE uses to pull the cars with?
MP36PH-3C. Built by motive power industries.
