Kayak Fishing Washington Coastal Waters For Ugly (& delicious) Fish

After a fun trip to the coast last month, we returned with the Hobie Outback Kayaks for more! The coast has its differences from the protected waters of Puget Sound and the Hood Canal, where we usually spend our time in a kayak, but it's fun to do something a little different once in a while!

there are some active Facebook kayak fishing groups you should check out. People will post when they're going and invite others along. there are also kayak fishing tournaments you can participate in too.
One Facebook group to check out is the Lower Columbia Kayak Anglers. Some good people in that group.

I bought a couple 3waters big fish pedal kayaks do you think they’d be sea worthy of going out there ?

I would not recommend it. Those kayaks should stick to exclusively to lakes and Puget Sound on calm days. There are even some Hobie models that shouldn't be out in ocean conditions...

This was all coastal fishing. Not in the Sound.

If you haven't gotten your boater's card yet, that is definitely the first place to start and is required by law. The US Coast Guard website has a lot of great information about safety on the water, etc.
