Chicago is for sure low balling drivers bad. The riders tell me all the time they are pissed the amounts the drivers get from what they pay. Riders are paying almost 100 to and from the airport and giving me not even 20 for an hour ride.
@@IADDP For sure, they do that to me also, that's why I don't do many rides from the airport any more. They know that you have 20+ minutes invested in waiting in the staging lot and take advantage of that. Then if you refuse three pings, they bump you to the back of the que. Lather, rinse, repeat. When I get bumped to the back of the que, I go offline and go home. I'm not playing their games.
@japaneselover377 i actually feel bad when the surge goes sky high, uber is just taking advantage of the riders when it's busy. I mean it's nice to get the extra money but at the riders expense
You're the only person who is exposing this unethical Behavior that Uber is practicing. I was paid $167 on my birthday to give a ride over 300 MI to San Angelo Texas from Dallas and I had to pay for my own gas home I feel like a complete schmuck but they only give you about 5 Seconds to make the decision so you don't really have a chance to think it through before you decide to take the ride
Long rides are not profitable, we all know this... But you can take a Screenshot then accept the trip, do your math then cancel if the math doesn't add up...
My son was charged 110 dollars from Hoboken through the tunnel, across to Staten Island. When the ride was done, it increased to 145.00, not including tip. The trip was 40 minutes. He called me because I was still a driver with Uber. I told him to contact Uber. Uber told him that he paid the tolls and the driver took longer then expected. He told Uber no way. Not his fault. Driver only got $42.00 from this ride!! Uber did refund him 80.00.
I only do Lyft, because you can see what the riders pay. Lyft is unethical in their pay...PERIOD! For FTC to get pay outs and no compensation to the driver is again a lost for the drivers. Unless one find ways to sue independent.
Walkability and the price are not the issue here, Transparency is! Uber has the right to change whatever they want for the service but they need to be compelled to tell the customer what they will be charged. In this instance Uber mislead the customer to believe it would be about $100.00 plus tip if uber wants more money it should be clearly stated to the customer @ what rate and when additional charges will occur. The customer was not provided with all the information to make an informed decision.
I am in the New Jersey market. The reason for this price is that nobody from New Jersey goes to New York at any time because they have to come back empty, and most of the time, there is heavy traffic. That ride at that time should have taken 20 minutes but ended up being a 2-hour ride, as usual. She could go to the Hoboken train station for $15 in an Uber, take the Path train to the city for $2.75, and then take another train to get closer to her destination for an additional $2.75. In New Jersey, we don’t have upfront pricing or any details.
I had a ping a week ago where a rider paid $26 just to go 2 miles, while I only got $8.75. This particular rider I've picked up before and she usually paid $10-12 for the ride, but Uber decided they needed to fleece her some more! She wasn't happy with the price and didn't tip when before she did tip. I've been noticing they've been overpricing airport trips here by charging the riders double, but drivers don't get any of that extra money. This is why when I travel and have to go airport I'll just park at the airport long term lot or take metrorail, no way I'd pay Uber $60 one way to the airport when I can park a week for that or take metrorail for $5 roundtrip.
i dont see any problem here except the lack of proper communication. It took 5 times more time and ended up being 3x more expensive. Just like the taxis back in the day.
Lyft has an "Upfront" pay which shows an estimated pay and mileage. Once you accept the ride, it always show more for time and distance. Lyft is aware of this... and this is why i contact Lyft on a daily basis to have them adjust the fee! This a times take upto 5 days to show. This is ridiculous at this point. I have turned some of my rides to private rides for thimose that have a routine schedule.
This only confirms my thoughts that I believe this AI, CONCEPTS IS BOGUS, THERE IS A PERSON WHO DECIDES HOW TO PRICE RIDES INDIVIDUALLY! Maybe there is system analysis data about a rider's past
These rideshare companies are horrible not only do I not drive for them anymore I refuse to use them goes around, comes around. The stocks are in serious trouble and highly being shorted, which is well-deserved the CEOs will well-deserved take the brunt.
If she was in a city cab she wouldn't have thought the meter would keep running? Haha. That still might be high, considering rhe mileage was so low but only the driver time was really racking up the bill. I wonder how much the driver got. The city cab charge .70 per minute when stuck in traffic, and 3.50 per mile when driving. It would have been less. But still an expensive ride either way.
The Lincoln tunnel is in underwater bridge that you cannot walk across
Wow
Lyft is even worst. Here in Chicago they charged a guy $60 bucks for 1 mile. Gave me $9. 💯💯💯
Chicago is for sure low balling drivers bad. The riders tell me all the time they are pissed the amounts the drivers get from what they pay. Riders are paying almost 100 to and from the airport and giving me not even 20 for an hour ride.
@IADDP fact. This is why the tips to and from the airports are waaay down.
Yep, I drive in Chicago too and when they start low-balling, I turn off the app and go in.
@@IADDP For sure, they do that to me also, that's why I don't do many rides from the airport any more. I met someone here in palm springs a couple got charged 98$ for 3 miles. Of course this garbage happens when it's a surging. So everyone beware.

There is something called “cancelled”
Long rides are not profitable, we all know this... But you can take a Screenshot then accept the trip, do your math then cancel if the math doesn't add up...

That is outrageous. I will never use Uber rideshare. How can they even justify charging that much and it's not even their car?
I only do Lyft, because you can see what the riders pay. Lyft is unethical in their pay...PERIOD! For FTC to get pay outs and no compensation to the driver is again a lost for the drivers. Unless one find ways to sue independent.
You CAN'T walk thru the tunnels in New York- you need a car
Walkability and the price are not the issue here, Transparency is! She said they flew thru the tunnel
Even if you could, it's an attractive well known person. RP is 'terded.

I can't walk through the Holland tunnel that's where they got her the tunnel is a under water bridge
As well as the Lincoln tunnel they are both underwater Bridges
She could have walked 10 blocks but what price does she put for her safety walking that late at night?

Driver recieved $20.59
Hocus pocus pricing! Nothing on the rider app indicates the price is subject to change, It Presents the price as if it's a flat rate.
@oteroonline yeah and unfortunately the riders gets the shock when the ride is over.
She shouldn't have said that they refunded the difference later. That way, her followers would think that Uber refused to do anything about it.
NYC traffic is ridiculous
i dont see any problem here except the lack of proper communication. It took 5 times more time and ended up being 3x more expensive. Just like the taxis back in the day.

She said she flew through the tunnel. Then it took two hours to go the remaining ten blocks.
Its 25°f in new york, that walk would be painful.
She could have taken the subway to the PATH train and been home in less than 45 minutes for about $10.
She could have raken a Yellow Cab...NYC is about the only place they actually exist
Was it UberX, or Uber Black (or whatever)?
Well in Uber's defense, how else are they going to pay the extra dozen or so employees it took them to get the rider home safely?
But they don’t care about us drivers and how we’re treated
Customers think they won’t be charged for wait time and they are it’s not just free
Yes, they should pay for wait time. But that's extreme and you know the driver didn't get much of that.
Was their traffic ?
She can’t walk from nyc to Hoboken nj
Just asking, are you trying to roast her? Or point out Uber screwing riders and drivers.
This only confirms my thoughts that I believe this AI, CONCEPTS IS BOGUS, THERE IS A PERSON WHO DECIDES HOW TO PRICE RIDES INDIVIDUALLY! Maybe there is system analysis data about a rider's past
If the quote was for 20 minutes but went to 2 hours then it should reflect the difference. An extra $100 plus is extreme.
IMO she speaks clearly n you making fun of her just is unnecessary. Better to focus on the issue as u always have.
And the CEO's wonder why the healthcare guy got shot when they pull stunts like this.
Uber overcharging and underpaying?
Sounds about right.
I routinely walk 3 to 5 miles a day. Great way to get some exercise.
Thx
Thats horrible
These rideshare companies are horrible not only do I not drive for them anymore I refuse to use them goes around, comes around. The stocks are in serious trouble and highly being shorted, which is well-deserved the CEOs will well-deserved take the brunt.
Driver probably got charged back
Hopefully the drive got paid? Every once in a while Uber drivers make some $. Most of the time, not so much!
If she was in a city cab she wouldn't have thought the meter would keep running? Haha. Maybe Dara needs to go stay in a Midtown Manhattan Marriott. Hint hint.
