LOTS of good info. It's cool to hear all of these ideas and hacks that only experience can teach. You just leveled up my engraving AND saved me bunch of money on test materials. Thanks, fellas!
Dang it, I have resisted getting on discord for years; just trying to avoid yet one more conduit of communication. However; y’all are so freaking helpful. I’m joining now. 😆
Hello, I am a fresh owner of a jpt MOPA m7 60w fiber laser and I wonder If AC infinity s4 will be enough? or I should go for s6? I do need only a quiet fan (baby upstairs) and just the speed control and nothing else. (this is why im avoiding the T series). Any recommendation?
I highly recommend adapting the S6 down to a 4" hose for the fiber lasers. The extra CFM makes a big difference and it's a minimal difference in noise level. Extraction is really important for health and safety, for that reason I'd go with the S6.
No x 1,000 - welding glasses and helmets are only designed to be opaque to light in the visible spectrum (400-700nm) not above (UV 355nm) or below (IR 1064-10600nm). Always use laser eye protection that has the effective wavelength printed on the lenses.
Just a note on the NoIR lasses -- The glasses you get from Thor Labs are actually NoIR brand, and they're cheaper through Thor. Also, the link to your buying guide is broken (as linked from your Laser Lenses link). Finally, I think the Amazon seller with the Starrett 135A realized how popular these have become and they increased the price by about 30% to $44.90.
Any other sources for the jigs that anyone is aware of? These links have some awesome stuff… They just seem to be sold out of most everything… Thanks in advance!
Poke around on AliExpress Scottie, there's *some* stuff on there. But these are the best links. Busy from the holiday season - may just have to wait it out.
Starrett is the most accurate tool you can buy. Nothing compares. The tape measures, rulers, etc even have the fractions down to a 32nd of an inch, whereas most others go to a 16th at most. Preferred by machinists and engineers when tolerance is an important factor and although expensive, worth every penny.
My voice was a bit off, looking like I talked over Alex (I didn’t honest) , but I think we all took something out of that show. I know I spent a few hundred dollars in things I should have had before now.
The time stamps were off for your recording for some reason! The further we got into the episode the worse it got. I tried to comp for it but it was really tricky.
AliExpress products are always goin up and coming down but we're actually working on a follow up with some more suggestions and a refreshed link list so we'll have that out soon!
There's an even better fire extinguisher that's safe for electronics and evaporates completely and quickly, called "halotron", but it's another $50 over the CO2 one
The "air in a can" is actually a refrigerant. NEVER spray canned refrigerant into a Mac while it is powered on, because if the refrigerant forms a liquid pool on one specific component the encryption key will be lost along with all data on the SSDs. Modern MacBooks will no longer boot if this chip is fried and replacing it will not restore the encryption key. If using any compressed air, then ensure the air system incorporates a properly function air dryer before blowing air toward or into a computer.
Starrett measuring tools used to be made in America, but they've been made in China for several years. The quality is no better than Mitutoyo, if Mitutoyo isn't superior now. When purchasing Mitutoyo look for the tools which are made in Japan, for the quality is much better than those made in Brazil.
The advice on just "blowing out" the contents of a fire extinguisher as a matter of policy is just AWFUL. Your extinguisher can absolutely cause damage, and if it's a small fire there is definitely a point at which you're just adding chemical damage to the situation or putting YOU at risk by filling the room with CO2. Either way, you'll clearly want to let the room air out, but there's no sense in just adding more CO2 for its own sake.
Just saying, but to the petty argument lol. I believe it is pronounced, NO-I,R in reference to, No-InfraRed light.. very creative name but it’s not pronounced noir like the french language..play on words guys

We love to hear it! Thanks for watching!
Nice recovery at the end...lol....great episode! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Lol it was a nice recovery but it was SO MUCH WORK lol it took hours. Glad it's over, hope it doesn't happen again >_>

Welcome to the 10600, 1064 and maybe even 355 side
Loved this episode. Learned so much.
Thanks for watching! :)
Phone tip pro tip. Love it
Thanks for watching!
"take care of your eyes" and the one guy wearing glasses nods. you don't know how important it is until you lose it :)

@@LaserEverything Hello, thanks. Maybe there some adapter exist for doing the downsizing?
great episode, and the ending was awesome too lol
Absolutely was not on purpose lol I don't know why the end of my video file got corrupted but I had to make do with what I had
Great video, Amazon cart is adding up. What duct system is Tachy using it was not in the video other than he paid 30 dollars for it. Thank you
Haha no problem, happy shopping :P Not sure what tachy's using but you can @Tachy on the discord server and ask - I'm sure he'd get back to you.
Any thoughts on what three lenses for a 10W UV? Same as mentioned in the vid?
Best engraving source . On matel. Stainless steel??
If a person wanted to purchase a sheet of protective material to build a safety box. What would you recommend????
Sold by the sq. ft. expensive but effective.
noirlaser.com/lasershield-windows/
Awesome information, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
I’m hoping that when you review the 3Plaser 20 watt you’ll be able to suggest additional lenses that will work and where to buy them.
Interested in seeing how they have it set up. Hopefully we'll get one soon.
Whats a good laser supplier in Australia?
I got a nice digital level at harbor freight for about $65.... works very well
Nice! Harbor Freight, classic!
Wish we had a similar here, but it's really just Bunnings and 1 or 2 other (expensive) options in Australia
Will welding glasses work ?

@@PileofBrass Cheers! See ya around!

Thanks for that. I'll get the link fixed and check out the Thor glasses! Also boo on the Starrett levels that sucks.
I promise to get content up before you lose your immortality. LOL
We are looking forward to it Geo!

@@LaserEverything probably due to the crappy Aussie internet we have here.

Starrett calipers country of origin china
Everything is made in China my dude. Starrett is an American business. www.starrett.com/madeinamerica
Yeah was disappointed that it was and it still cost so much
Still better than the random-brand Chinese stuff
