Last week I heard for the first time about Hussaini (green) turquoise from Iran, wich aparently contains mor iron. Are familiar with it or perhaps Shar Zamani could tell us some more about it? Here they told me it was named after Mohammeds grandson and that this variety is rare, but if possible you can tell us some more about this type of turquoise?
For HG to GG natural, $50-$70 a carat. You will find these stones at the Callais Collection on the website turquoiseinamerica.com . Treated turquoise, much coming from Kerman Provence, will sell for a few dollars a carat. Mid grade natural for about $5 a carat. Price rises exponentially with rarity.
No one said the turquoise from Nishapur is not treated. Shahriyar said it is generally hard and does not require treatment unless cut for beads. The two main areas for turquoise production are Nishapur and Kerman.
