So it’s clear that he’s profile fits it. Also, during the the AC Milan/ Barca game, we had 17 chances, 7 on target, and 2 converted. It’s clear that we needed to more clinical. Olmo is just an insurance.

I was 1 hour old when my father ,directly from the hospital, went to Maksimir (Dinamo Zagreb’s) stadium to sing me up for a membership. So my love for Dinamo runs deep. Dani is up there with the greats like Da Silva, Modric and many others who came through our club. He won our hearts over and over with his talent and tenacity. Very sad to see such negative comments for the person who did everything in his power to come back home to Barca. You do realize a 4-2-3-1 needs two pivots to work? Fermin is already proven to be a good attacking midfielder in La Liga and champions league football, pedri can also play there. Frenkie and Marc Casado play the double pivot while gavi is out. The only player they needed to complete that formation was a good left winger which was Nico Williams but they failed to do that

There are times when he loses the ball very cheaply or misplaces an obvious pass . Yes , he's a pressing machine , but he's not as technical as Olmo . And speaking of the two pivots , there's a strong chance that Flick will deploy Bernal and Casado / Pedri at the start of the season Although he personally wanted to field Gavi and De Jong .

i think selling Raphinha would be a HUGE mistake; he has shown a lot of passion for the badge (something that most players in our squad are missing) and he turned up in some big games also, giving up on Roque would be stupid and i really hope he gets more minutes this season

To be honest, saying that barcelona has a lot of players in that position is actually delusional. you can't actually expect torre or the new la masia players to play at high level for 60 games a season in all competition. We have right now gundo, fermin, pedri, gavi, and de jong, and objectively speaking, gundo is 33/34 year old so you cant expect him to always be a regular in all matches, pedri is injured most of the time, gavi needs a lot of time to get back to his level pre injury and So if you actually look at it objectively, barcelona right now does not have enough midfielders even if you take bernal and cassado into account. You can't expect to compete in all competitions with 4 or 5 midfielders, maybe if you're a mid tier club. I mean look at the clubs that compete for the champions each year, look at real madrid, they had modric, kroos, camavinga, tchouameni, valverdi, cebaios, bellingham, brahim diaz, and arda guller. 9 players that can occupy the midfield. Truly I appreciate this signing reason because all the players who play on his position are all injured. We can give them time to be 100 % with out forcing them soon for big games . Dani Olmo has been a class player for years. A person this talented should easily be made effective by a team like Barcelona regardless of who else is on the team.
Where most Spanish people let's be honest unfortunately don't even speak great English, Olmo speaks fluent Croatian with an an accent at the level of a Croatian born abroad. And as a teenager moving to a country smaller than some of the cities in his home country. Talks about the way he looked at the opportunity and what kind of a person he is. Olmo is a great and intelligent guy and I think it says a lot about him how much he is and forever will be beloved in Croatia, more than many local players ever will.
Olmo is a good signing his ability to maneuver in tight spaces is incredible,his finishing is incredible and most importantly his passion for the club is incredible.Hansi is not gonna use pure wingers the fullbacks provide the width,so olmo is perfect for that position in the half space for barca.We are packed in that position but thats good because that means hansi has a lot of options up front with fermin,olmo,pedri,gundo and raph its gonna benefit us this season.
Key things to point out from your video or things you forgot to mention: 1) Raphinha is a RW and Ansu is a Left goal scoring winger so I don’t get including them as 10s. 2) I think we will see three players to play 10 Olmo, Gundo and Fermin. Gundo won’t feature much this season because him and Lewa make the team defensively unbalanced. 3) Torre might go on loan. 4) Raphinha is not a left winger. 5) Bernal will be Barcelona’s main pivot Christensen will go back to defence.

If you had watched preseason games no forwards were hugging the touchline (wingers) all of them acted like inside forwards (Roque. Pau & Raphinha) so even when Olmo starts on the left he will come inside making those runs leaving the width for the fullbacks. That's why you saw Valle way up the field making those crosses instead of a winger. Olmo would not have been a great fit for Xavi's system as a winger but for Hansi he is the perfect signing.
We are currently overloaded in AM, but I think several of those players will be sold or sent on loan. We are already hearing about Frenkie, and Fenerbache are knocking for Gunda. Gunda clearly couldn’t press vs Milan. Torre will probably go on loan.

A bunch of people that really are not knowledgeable about football (playing Football Manager does not make you an expert) talking crap about a guy that has excelled year on year since being a young player. This last Euro showed us a Dani Olmo that is far more direct than Pedri and will offer the team different options based on the system and who we are playing against. A football season for Barcelona is not only long, but very demanding. We also need much more goal scoring from the second line. Lewandoski and Gundogan are probably in their last year of top flight football, we can't dump all the responsibility on 16 and 17 year olds. These same Reddit geniuses moan that we are not getting Nico before Dani. If Nico does not want to come, it does not make sense to spend the money on anything less than Nico at a minimum. As for a DM, Hansi Flick (who's technical opinion I trust much more than random people on the Internet) says we don't need right now a DM so we don't need to spend money. Right now we have one of the most stacked defensive line ups in Europe, some of them can be moved into a DM role if a particular match needs it, we have a good backup for Lewi. Its fine. The Laporta being a politician thing cracks me up. So is Florentino and so is any major club President. This is not the NFL or some cricket team.

Nico Williams would have been great. However, Dani Olmo does bring tactical flexibility and world class quality in midifeld. As for the negatives, Dani will provide long term cover and replacement for the older senior players.

we signed olmo strictly for rotational value as he has a similar profile to fermin and in which no other midfielder in Barcelona attacks like fermin and can score goals like him, we tried with Pedri but he’s more so a playmaker than a goal scorer, now with olmo we have two and with Fermin becoming world class, olmo doesn’t have to play 90 minutes of every game risking injury.

Its sad to say and I really love him, but Frenkie De Jong might be the one who we need to let go. I mean he earns around 35 Million Dollars. When he would leave there would be 1 less player in the Midfield, which we have a lot of substitutions. I also think Raphinha can be great at the left wing under Hansi Flick.
Selling Frenkie won't bring as much financial relieve as many seem to think. Big part of those 35M is his deferred salary from the lockdown, wich Barca will still have to pay him even if he were to be sold
I think olmo will come in as an inverted left winger as Balde covers the flank as a touchline left wing back. I think that would be the best way to use him without cutting down on minutes from the other attacking midfielders.

Fermin is great, but if he doesnt have space to work with he gets choked out, Olmo can work in tight spaces, same reason Flick likes Felix, they can work in tight spaces. Without a top notch CAM, we hardly created chances for Lewy and due to DM issues at times Gundo has to drop back to play in that position. Fermin is NOT an assister LOLOL.

The ideal thing would be selling raphinha or vitor roque even though i like roque he just wouldnt get enough play time . And considering the risor of pau victor he should be sold. And i also think fermin should be playing because he has proved himself to be a goalscorer and is cooking in the Olympics. Dani olmo can be used as a lw instead of a Cam. Which would give opportunities to fermin . Also fermin and olmo could switch roles mid game. Nico Williams deal is not off the table. It depends on what the player wants, and as of today, 11/8/24, he still has said not a word. Which leads me to believe, his move to Barcelona might very well still happen. Also, Olmo is going to play AMC within Flick's team. Ansu Fati, Ferran, and Raphinha don't play there. Pablo Torre probably will be loaned out again. Gundogan is going on to 33 years old and not getting any younger, and, finally, Pedri's repeated streak of injuries is a very serious concern. and he can play in the line of two midfielders instead of AMC, or out on the wings anyway. Realistically for Flick's AMC position Barcelona had just Pedri and Gundogan, which is not enough at the time of facing a long season with as many matches as Barcelona is going to play. No he's a versatile Forward/Playmaker like Dinho/Neymar, can drift to LW. Footballers are not positional slaves, they can adapt and move around.

I was 1 hour old when my father ,directly from the hospital, went to Maksimir (Dinamo Zagreb’s) stadium to sing me up for a membership. So my love for Dinamo runs deep. Dani is up there with the greats like Da Silva, Modric and many others who came through our club. He won our hearts over and over with his talent and tenacity. Very sad to see such negative comments for the person who did everything in his power to come back home to Barca. We have right now gundo, fermin, pedri, gavi, and de jong, and objectively speaking, gundo is 33/34 year old so you cant expect him to always be a regular in all matches, pedri is injured most of the time, gavi needs a lot of time to get back to his level pre injury and So if you actually look at it objectively, barcelona right now does not have enough midfielders even if you take bernal and cassado into account. You can't expect to compete in all competitions with 4 or 5 midfielders, maybe if you're a mid tier club. I mean look at the clubs that compete for the champions each year, look at real madrid, they had modric, kroos, camavinga, tchouameni, valverdi, cebaios, bellingham, brahim diaz, and arda guller. 9 players that can occupy the midfield. Where most Spanish people let's be honest unfortunately don't even speak great English, Olmo speaks fluent Croatian with an an accent at the level of a Croatian born abroad. And as a teenager moving to a country smaller than some of the cities in his home country. Talks about the way he looked at the opportunity and what kind of a person he is. Olmo is a great and intelligent guy and I think it says a lot about him how much he is and forever will be beloved in Croatia, more than many local players ever will.

1) Raphinha is a RW and Ansu is a Left goal scoring winger so I don’t get including them as 10s.
2) I think we will see three players to play 10 Olmo, Gundo and Fermin. Gundo won’t feature much this season because him and Lewa make the team defensively unbalanced.
3) Torre might go on loan.
4) Raphinha is not a left winger.
5) Bernal will be Barcelona’s main pivot Christensen will go back to defence.

If you had watched preseason games no forwards were hugging the touchline (wingers) all of them acted like inside forwards (Roque. Pau & Raphinha) so even when Olmo starts on the left he will come inside making those runs leaving the width for the fullbacks. That's why you saw Valle way up the field making those crosses instead of a winger. Olmo would not have been a great fit for Xavi's system as a winger but for Hansi he is the perfect signing.

This last Euro showed us a Dani Olmo that is far more direct than Pedri and will offer the team different options based on the system and who we are playing against.
A football season for Barcelona is not only long, but very demanding. We also need much more goal scoring from the second line. Lewandoski and Gundogan are probably in their last year of top flight football, we can't dump all the responsibility on 16 and 17 year olds.
These same Reddit geniuses moan that we are not getting Nico before Dani. If Nico does not want to come, it does not make sense to spend the money on anything less than Nico at a minimum. As for a DM, Hansi Flick (who's technical opinion I trust much more than random people on the Internet) says we don't need right now a DM so we don't need to spend money.
Right now we have one of the most stacked defensive line ups in Europe, some of them can be moved into a DM role if a particular match needs it, we have a good backup for Lewi. Its fine.
The Laporta being a politician thing cracks me up. So is Florentino and so is any major club President. This is not the NFL or some cricket team.

Agree with most of what you say, only two issues:
- Pablo Torre hasn't played too good with Girona, and he was a substitute at most.
- Marc Bernal is way more of a DM than Casadó, and he will be given the opportunity after seeing how much he's played during pre season (Casadó as well)
Not taking anything away from Olmo, he's a great player- but signing him as the next best thing after failing with Nico shows exactly Barca's dilemma: The board and sporting management is absolutely clueless. we signed olmo strictly for rotational value as he has a similar profile to fermin and in which no other midfielder in Barcelona attacks like fermin and can score goals like him, we tried with Pedri but he’s more so a playmaker than a goal scorer, now with olmo we have two and with Fermin becoming world class, olmo doesn’t have to play 90 minutes of every game risking injury.

When he would leave there would be 1 less player in the Midfield, which we have a lot of substitutions. I also think Raphinha can be great at the left wing under Hansi Flick.
Selling Frenkie won't bring as much financial relieve as many seem to think. Big part of those 35M is his deferred salary from the lockdown, wich Barca will still have to pay him even if he were to be sold
I think olmo will come in as an inverted left winger as Balde covers the flank as a touchline left wing back. I think that would be the best way to use him without cutting down on minutes from the other attacking midfielders.

Olmo is an excellent player, I watched him single handedly beat Bayern Munich 4-0 except his role is not a LW and not a CAM, he is a LAM who drifts centrally and scores. He is good but they already have Gundö

7:48 you are naive to think the team didnt need an AM/CAM. All you mention none of them with probably Gundogan are top notch CAM. Pedri is not really a CAM, Xavi forced to try to make him one, he not on Olmo nor Gundo level. Fermin is great, but if he doesnt have space to work with he gets choked out, Olmo can work in tight spaces, same reason Flick likes Felix, they can work in tight spaces. Without a top notch CAM, we hardly created chances for Lewy and due to DM issues at times Gundo has to drop back to play in that position. Fermin is NOT an assister LOLOL.
Actually xavi forced pedri to play as a center midfielder but its Spain who played him as a CAM, which is funny because in Spain pedri is almost unplayable and he benches olmo
The ideal thing would be selling raphinha or vitor roque even though i like roque he just wouldnt get enough play time . And considering the risor of pau victor he should be sold. And i also think fermin should be playing because he has proved himself to be a goalscorer and is cooking in the Olympics. Dani olmo can be used as a lw instead of a Cam. Which would give opportunities to fermin . Also fermin and olmo could switch roles mid game. Even though me myself thought we should have signed nico its better that we signed olmo which would give a lot more Opportunities to yonger players like pablo fermin and pau victor.
I personally would have been happier if it was Nico, he strengthens our weak point and he would bring even more excitement. FCB should try convincing Nico to join next summer at about the same price- that would be the next best thing.

i think the main reason is that olmo was the main transfer target of hansi flick. he pushed for him and giving him even more importance than the signing of nico williams.

I am a Barca fan but we need a president like Perez in this club, he knows when to walk away from a deal and not feel compelled to make a signing. Real had several transfer windows before in which they didnt make any major transfers or let go players like Casemero in order to bring in Thouchemeni

That said, I really like Olmos play. Just feel like we have more pressing needs across other positions.

Nico Williams deal is not off the table. It depends on what the player wants, and as of today, 11/8/24, he still has said not a word. Which leads me to believe, his move to Barcelona might very well still happen.
Also, Olmo is going to play AMC within Flick's team. Ansu Fati, Ferran, and Raphinha don't play there. Pablo Torre probably will be loaned out again. Gundogan is going on to 33 years old and not getting any younger, and, finally, Pedri's repeated streak of injuries is a very serious concern. and he can play in the line of two midfielders instead of AMC, or out on the wings anyway. Realistically for Flick's AMC position Barcelona had just Pedri and Gundogan, which is not enough at the time of facing a long season with as many matches as Barcelona is going to play. So I strongly disagree with your assessment Barcelona didn't need a player there.
And Fermin is going nowhere. He's just had an extended, improved contract, offered by Barcelona. Again he'll have plenty of chances during the season, the same he had last season because Barcelona simply plays too many matches in a single season.
/edit: The DM Debate. Flick himself has stopped, for now, any Barcelona move towards that position. because of two names rising from La Masia. Casado and Bernal. Seems Flick, upon seeing them in training (and during the US tour) was so impressed with them he sees no need to reinforce the position anymore. Reportedly he believes that bringing someone from outside when having such youth talent coming up from the youth teams is a waste. Barcelona was well in the race for Mikel Merino (and for Zubimendi, and Onana, and Kimmich, and others) until Flick called a stop to it. I can't say if they are *THAT* good, as I haven't seen almost any Barcelona B matches, but in the US tour they surely played really well, and it seems that everyone in the club knows they are the real deal indeed, so maybe Flick is onto something.
BTW Pau Prim also plays DM, and by all accounts, it's a very good prospect aswell...
Whatever the case, it's highly unlikely Barcelona will sign anyone in the DM position this year, and that's the main reason.
