  • Want to wear your normal jeans, but don't want to sacrifice safety? I take a quick look at the Bowtex Kevlar leggings, which might just be your best solution if you want comfort combined with the abrasion protection of kevlar.

    Yeah, I can’t wear tight leather pants at work. Because I can only wear dress pants or jeans on casual Friday’s, I have been taking the risk and not wearing enough protective gear. It’s starting to make me nervous. I might not always be as lucky as I have been. These sound like exactly what I need.

      Hi Elvia, yep they’ve turned out to be a useful piece of kit. Pretty comfy too

    Thanks for this video. I just got the SGS Armor myself. Which is basically the same I guess. I hope I never have to test them though

      Bo Ismono yeah, I'm pleased that Bowtex did the drag test. I didn't fancy it!

    Very useful review on what seems to be the future of motorcycle clothing. Time will tell. One question: This is the Standard or the Essential version of the leggings? Judging by the upload year probably the former. Nevertheless, thank u for sharing your experience.

      Thanks, yes these are the standard version.

    I think it would be easier to wear something over suit trousers for a commute rather than under them.

      Interesting thought! We do made the choice to specialise in underwear :) Cost will be much more higher to have a fully "all-over" product. Plus, usually, people wears Bowtex® and some keep it all day at work. Not all of them, but some.

    What stops them from being pushed down down if you end up sliding backwards down the road? I would have thought having the top secured to your waist by a belt was necessary...

      They are designed to be worn under another pair of trousers which would be 'most likely' held with a belt. I get your point though. I see them as an option for people who 'just have to wear' their normal jeans. Having seen how quickly denim lasts on tarmac, anything that can help has got to be good.

    how thick are they? do they fit well under your normal sized pants? or do you find they make pants a bit tight?

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  6 років тому

      Hi Terri, they feel a bit like a thickish cotton t shirt. I guess it depends on how tight your pants are to start with :) I can wear them under a normal cut pair of Levi’s. (541 I think) If you get the right size leggings they should fit like a thermal base layer

    They seem thick. Which would probably make you hot/uncomfortable in most places here in the US. Might try them though. Are they made in the UK? Or made in China etc?

      They are thick enough to offer the protection but are breathable. Best way to describe the feel it like a thick t-shirt....the company are Belgian and the items are manufactured in the EU

    Good idea but would they be really hot in the summer?

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  6 років тому

      Dougie, yes in Hot weather they would be hot, but I suppose it also depends on the thickness of your jeans?

      No Problem Dexter, I wasn't sure at first, but they are a high quality solution that work in so many ways

      I'm just going through the process of getting my bike license and have been looking at clothing, there is so much choice and because I am in Scotland there are not many places you can go and try on the brand's you want. I think I will get these first and then work up to some specific clothing as I go on.

      @mancavemoto  6 років тому

      2XL for 36-38, XL for 34-36....you just need to be realistic with your waist size lol

      6'3", 300lbs, 54-56 in a suit size, I'm lucky some of the on-line gear shops go up to 3XL, I actually saw sizes the other day up to 5XL. I hope that's a big harley they are riding and not a Rebel 250.

    Why do you edit the gaps between the sentences out? You must save no more than 30 seconds. If that. It makes you sound unnatural.
    Are these really hot to wear in really hot weather, I wonder. Not just English hot. If they are, I don't see the point.

      Hi 1990, 30 seconds is a long time on UA-cam! I can only test in UK weather. But they are comparable to wearing a base layer under jeans. As I say not a problem when you are moving. I'd rather sweat than lose the skin on my legs I guess.
