Really good chart info - the stuff you don’t usually learn until you have to! BTW, the difference between your boat and line-handling skills now compared to ‘Day One’ is astonishing. 👏
Whenever I'm drifting away from a dock (for whatever reason), it helps to take a turn on the dock cleat and pull from there, or even take more turns and step on the line to bring her in.
Excellent video thanks for the avionics lesson Lakeshore come a long way since I was on the lakes, Was wondering why you have to dock to charge your batteries will your engine not charge your batteries while you're heading down the river, once again excellent show
Good question, my engine and thruster batteries are charged by my engines, but I added a massive 800Amps of lithium batteries as house batteries. The stock alternators are connected to my house batteries through a Victron DC-DC converter, but limited to a total of 24A. At that rate it does not have enough to charge the batteries as my boat pulls about 24A with three refrigerators and Starlink running 24/7. I use a Victron charger/ inverter which can put a constant 120A of charge into the house batteries while plugged into the dock. Plus it allows me to run the AC which I cannot do from batteries.
Your airplane reference was actually naked gun. Both great movies. Also, I have been enjoying your videos. You include a lot of information many people don't.
Not sure how far ahead of the videos you are but just in case I wanted to make sure you were aware of a couple of lock closures on the Tenn-Tom. I think the Aberdeen and Stennis locks have been closed for a few weeks and are scheduled to reopen 10/5 and 10/4 respectively. It’s possible they’ll finish early (or late) so if you’re cutting it close you might want to check on updates.
Sometimes those "floating" pins do not float. They get stuck - hung up - and can cause a lot of problems if you are hard cleated to them. Seen it happen....
Yep, that’s why you should never hard tie to them only wrap the line around and hold it with either your hand or your foot so that they can easily be released. I always keep my eye on the pin and stand right in front of it and make sure it’s doing his job.
Thanks for all the extraneous info about the crop duster and the kinds of levees/dams along the rivers. Quite interesting. Do you end up having "docktails" often with other loopers at Marinas? Do Loopers come in every conceivable age/experience/affluence levels? Have you seen any extremes of tiny or massive Looper boats? Enjoyed the video.
Those are all very good questions that probably deserve an answer in front of the camera for everyone to enjoy. Maybe I will add that to my next weeks video. Stay tuned.
Your videos are so enjoyable to watch. Thanks for letting us follow your journey.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for chart lesson - great review!
My pleasure!
You have inspired me to do the great loop in the Spring 2025
Fantastic! Go for it.
Another great video…thank you so much for sharing your trip! We can’t wait to go!
Hope you enjoy it!

Very true!
Never seen the Ohio river or been on it nor the Mississippi. Thanks for letting me ride along.
Any time!

Thanks.
Thanks, always looking forward to the next espesiode
Thanks!
For the seat, consider a leatherish belt to fill the gap from a Dollar Store/Goodwill. It will fill the gap, cushion, reversible if not pleased.

Not sure where you're at, but safe travels with the storm approaching. Hope you find a safe haven.
Or…Safe Harbor, ha. (That’s the name of the marina I’m currently in).
Cheers.
Once again, great video. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it

Ah..you’re correct. The memory is first to go.

Thanks for the info. Yep, we are aware and have been trying to plan our days to coincide with the planned opening. Fingers crossed.
Great Video and Information. Thanks
Thanks for watching!

@@MV_Checkmate Awesome. My comment was more directed at some of the new folks that may be watching this. Enjoy your trip!!
Just found your channel and enjoying the loop travel. Do you run any solar to help the lithium batteries.
Cheers,
Lee
Yes I do! Only 400W of Solar.
Not much you can do about mayflies other than keep lights to a minimum, they are attracted to light.
I go. Looks like fun.
Good video
Thanks!

Be sure to enjoy the restaurant at GTB. You’ll get a temporary club membership to. Don’t miss Pattie’s either
The restaurant at GTB was closed. We hit one of the restaurants down in town with the group. Had a great time there.
Oh NO, Not May flys…. Run, run away…. They are a pain to clean…. I pass of the sushi bar fish…. 🤮
Just curious if you are stopping by Paris Landing marina ? Would like to meet up for lunch or something if you are available.
Sorry, no
How much is it to fill the Meridian with fuel?
I never run it down more than about 3/4 tank or so. If I ran it empty, it would hold 300 gallons. The last diesel fuel I bought was $4.19 per gallon.
You are an insperation to all watching and lets see a pic of that ex GF!
Ha.
Cumberland River....not Columbia
Ha.. Oops. I messed that up. Oh well.
@@MV_Checkmate Its all good. Keep on floatin
