I asked him on strava if running these 100 miles was harder than running a sub 3 hour marathon .
His responses was “100% Harder” .
Puts it in perspective of how hard it was

Just put in a training weekend for Eastern States 100. As my first 100miler, I have a glimpse into what it’s going to be like. I know I can do it, my biggest concern now is hydration and fueling. Staying upright and moving seems like the easy part.

This is the healthy version of doing drugs/alcohol, feeling your body being absolutely trashed but then the beauty of the “high”, meanwhile for hiking it’s the exercise “trashing” the body (but secretly doing good things for it) and then the nature being the high but for your soul. Neat.

If this is truly ur passion then just buy a gps tracker with cell signal that can handle the outdoors. And jyst do it when ur older when ur more grown up. Don't let her unnecessary fears hold u back, u will regret it. Only listen to the common sense fears. If I listened to my family's fears I'd never be into mountain biking or road biking. If u plan it out like this guy or try ur best packing gear and learn from experience then it's hard to completely fail. Just do a ton of research first and find a buddy for ur first few times if possible. Try small miles first early in the morning. Don't go late, on foot takes a long time, you'll catch the moon very quick

I agree with what Evan said. I probably wouldn't do it until you're an adult, just so you don't stress any still maturing joints, but go for it. It's an incredibly supportive community of people who help and watch out for each other.
Maybe start with hikes, ease her into the idea of you being out in the wilderness for hours with friends. Eventually, you'll have the freedom to make your own decisions, just know she loves you and be gentle! 😂

I did something very similar in Setermoen, Norway. My challenge to you, Sir, is to bring less and use more of what the land has available. Great achievement. I'd love to see what challenges to progress to.
