Michael and Aziraphale are both the same person from his funeral in the future so he will be a time lord god said so we’re going to be time lords 😊 Simple
Fun fact: if you listen to this and then the music from the scene right after it with the demons having their little disco thing in Hell, it's the same song, just in a different style!! I wish they'd kept this music for the show cause that's a lovely detail Edit: So it turns out I am Silly and that this music is actually "I Am A Courtier Grave And Serious" from Gilbert and Sullivan and that the disco thing in Hell was a 70s style adaptation of it
I just imagine azirphale inviting crowley over and putting on an ENTIRE performance of his newly learned damce for him. And at the end, crowley just staring and saying "what in the nine circles was THAT?"
Fun Fact: When you dance the gavotte, the first step/move is to kiss your partner. SO. Aziraphale was probably learning it to teach Crowley, and it's why he was so sad when it eventually went out of style after the years passed. (When he probably couldn't work up the nerve to ask.) My heart is exploding-
Nobody is talking about the amount of elbow the backup dancer was doing in the beginning. He wields it like a weapon. Reminds me of the waiters in Hello Dolly. Even in the dull dingy black and white, Michael's smile is a ray of sunshine beaming through dark clouds. Just beautiful!
The narration said that Aziraphale learned the gavotte at a "discreet gentlemen's club" (a/k/a a gay club) so it could've been danced by couples, just not male-female couples.
I just learned really recently that Azi waited for hundreds of years to have him and Crowley dance this because you have to kiss your partner at the end and that’s why he was so upset when it fell out of fashion 😭
Someone I just can’t see Crowley actually doing this dance. No matter how much he loves Azirafale. Makes me smile just thinking about Azirafale trying to talk Crowley’s into it.
hes so skrunkly 😭 idk why but first time i watched good omens was with my partner and for some reason anytime aziraphale was being happy and silly i would wanna cry of joy 😭 mf really is an angel LMAO
The music used in this scene is from Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Gondoliers". It's a piano variation of a passage from a song in the score called "I Am a Courtier Grave and Serious". Just sayin'. :)
Feeding my inner G&S geek here - I felt so awesome when I recognized this song, especially since one of the lyrics of this song is, "Now, a gavotte perform sedately, offer your hand with conscious pride! Take an attitude not too stately, still sufficiently dignified!" I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when they discussed how to choose and include this song.
@@erikhanson1162 That's awesome!! I felt the same way, and it was totally unexpected! I was like "Hey!! I KNOW that song!!" :) Somebody involved in the show must be a G&S fan because they would have had to be very familiar with the work to know about this song!
People still do historical dances. I’m going to a workshop on gavotte and other French dances this Saturday in Atlanta. Look for a historical dance group in your area.
And you can see the exact moment Aziraphale turns back into Michael at the end.
They're both so pleased with themselves, too 😂
I'm convinced he has multiple people living in that body. He can be so many things.

Aziraphale would end up getting Crowley to join the club
Yeah but deep down inside he was beaming like the rest of us here 🥰🤣

The Energy Michael put into this!!
Totally! 110%!!!!!
He’s amazing. Infectious smile.
Michael Sheen looks like he's having so much fun! ^_^ I wonder how long it took him to learn the moves for this scene.
If given a choice between reliving this or his Twilight laugh, which do you think he’d pick.
he’s *Michael*
it either took him too long or just a few hours
@@mattphillips3537this
OMG at the end when he keeps looking back and forward he looks like either a little kid or a puppy going DID YOU SEE ME DID YOU SEE ME I DID THE THING
Omg right?!?!!?
And wasn't Crowley supposed to be sleeping for ages during this time as was outlined in the original text?
The energy that Michael's tongue put in it is astounding. Seriously though, who wouldn't want to be in the same room as that man?

No, no, it should bring you so much joy and it does and all is right with the world!

The dislike is from Gabriel for too many frivolities. 😂
Michael Sheen is a treasure, I just love his smile and positive energy and his charm and everything.
I want to believe that Neil Gaiman gave a prompt of encouragement before starting this shoot: "Think gay thoughts!" I love this scene so much.
Let's be real with ourselves, here: Michael doesn't need the reminder lol
Michael Sheen is a treasure of humanity and I can prove it:
He really is an angel, he gets so happy that it makes me happy! I hope he realizes how many people he makes smile. ☺
The moments of pure joy in his face makes me shed tears. Tickety-boo
He’s having so much fun!
I love this movie. Did Michael Sheen really do those high kicks when dancing the Gavotte? That is hard to believe.
OMG LOL I literally always come back to this video to feel excellent again. Thanks Aziraphale and Michael Sheen.
I love this scene, Michael's face is just sublime 😍😇
It's a choice to portray the gavotte, a "courtly dance for couples" as being danced all by men.
I'm actually wondering if it's really a gavotte because the music and the legs moves remind me more of the can-can.
The narration said that Aziraphale learned the gavotte at a "discreet gentlemen's club" (a/k/a a gay club) so it could've been danced by couples, just not male-female couples.
Well I rather think that’s the point 😁 Aziriphale belongs to a “gentlemen’s club” where they dance lovely dances together.
He owns a bookshop in Soho. Soho, honey
@@hofficalzI was just going to say the same thing lmao I'm not British but even I know what Soho is famous for in history
Best scene, Aziraphale having so much fun
This had me giggling the whole time.

It is physically impossible for one to watch this without smiling 😊
I can only imagine how much fun Michael was having in this scene

While I will never see live footage of the Magna Carta being drafted, this is the next best thing.
This should be listed as an international treasure
“I am a courtier grave and serious” from The Gondoliers, by Gilbert and Sullivan.
This makes me just so happy I cannot describe it-
I wanna cry of joy
This scene makes one forget that Michael played a very powerful, vicious vampire in "Twilight."
Wait, seriously??? Haha, I was wondering why people were mentioning it.
I just learned really recently that Azi waited for hundreds of years to have him and Crowley dance this because you have to kiss your partner at the end and that’s why he was so upset when it fell out of fashion 😭
Dancing *and* kissing at the gentelmen's club? So that's why he never told Crowley about it!

Michael Sheen is so cute!I like his smile!
People!! One of the things the Gavotte was known for was that it involved kissing your dance partner(s)! Look it up.
Fun fact: the 19th century column-dance version of the gavotte has absolutely nothing to do with the 16-17th century peasant kissing dance version.
He's just so silly I love him
This is so sweet 💗 It put a smile on my face 🥰
song is "i am a courtier grave and serious" from gilbert and sullivan's "the gondoliers," in which, yes, the gavotte is done.

This is so damn cute
I want to dance with them omg hahaha
This is just delightful.

Of. Course.
And I do wish they’d put the entire video in so you can see him adding himself to the line of men after they started.

As amazing and hilarious as this scene is, it sort of undermines Aziraphael’s character as far as his naïveté goes- it is so obviously a sex thing.
