    Ace video, glorious colours at that time of year. Just climbed Mount Keen this morning and it was a total treat of a hike, not least of all encountering my first ever adder on the way back to the car! Felt very lucky,

      Thanks Fraser. Aye the autumn colours were stunning, Total dark orangey heather only seen it once since on Meall Ghaordaidh a few years ago. Its a great walk up that Munro, How was the weather was it busy? PS Never seen an adder myself. Take care mate, peter.

      @@MUNROSnCORBETTS Weather was ideal Peter, sun was shining under light cloud and got progressively brighter later in the morning. Nice breeze throughout, too. Aye, it was getting pretty busy by the time I was heading down. Glad I unintentionally woke at 4am as it gave me an early start! All the best!

    Wonderful experience; I feel as if I was there with you all the way; perfect day, great views; gentlest gradient leading to impressive height.

    Another cracking video Peter, you picked a grand day for it again, love all those autumn colours! This was my first Munro, back in March '99. Lots of snow when I did it with a couple of friends. We never realised there were recognised routes back then and we headed due North from Auchronie, then on to Mount Keen from the East, a hard slog in deep snow and a howling gale. I'm a little bit older and whole lot wiser now though! Tackling it the way we did, we never saw the Queens Well and I've always wondered what it was like, now I know. Keep it up Peter, and stay safe... :-)

    I also wanted to mention the Queens well, it is amazing to me how they who built it managed to get the curve of those huge stones to stay in place, graduating in size in the curve like that. It may be a simple task , but I'm not knowledgeable in the building of anything..lol. But it sure looks like a feat of genius to me.

    I was just round the corner from you Peter at Glen Doll. I was checking it out from your video there. I got scunnered by the Ranger there who said there is no camping at Corrie Fee and ended up going up the east side on the Esk. Great place though!. This is however a stunning coloured masterpiece where you are!
    I remember the light that day from GlenClova, I was thinking that I didn't want to leave. Stunning colours here peter.

      Thanks sinclair the sun shining on all that heather was amazing, i just wanted to sit and look. that is bad news about no camping in corrie fee, but there is no doubt you have lots of other wee gems up your sleeve. thanks for watching and commenting, peter.

    So late in the year to get such a good weather window and the low sun brought out the autumnal colours.

    My wife and I were driving up Deeside to Braemar on Sunday and the skyline was crystal clear. All the tops were recognisable. Little did I know you were on top of one of them Peter. :-)
    When we did Mount Keen we did it from Glen Tanar and cycled to the bottom. Its a hike and a half to get to the foot of Mount Keen. However, I'm looking at the map and I'm guessing you did this from the Auchronnie side of Keen.
    Either way, cracking video and the colours were spectacular. Thanks for sharing. And, next time your up my way give me a shout. David :-)

      Hiya david, my last 3 climbs have been in that neck of the woods i cant get enough of that area its beautiful. Yes i started from the auchronie car park and i would have liked to come down via glen tanar but i was told it was a fair bit out of the way to get back to the car park, im not complaining though. Thanks for the kind words, peter.

    Fantastic video mate, really enjoyed it, that's some long path to summit...how long did that take you and did you drive home after it...on the to-do list this year

      I think it took me about 6 hours-ish Andy, No %100 sure right enough. Drive up from Glasgow is a bit long though, Way up by Forfar, Brechin etc then cut off just after it. A coffee and a steak pie in Broxden services in Perth on the way up always keeps me awake though ha ha! Maybe 3 hours or so for the drive.

    If this is the furthest walk from a public road to reach a Munro, it might be the least climbed.

    Great stuff i really should put the cairngorms top of my list for 2014 wildcamps.
    The colours are great this time of year.
    Beginning to notice different types of munros.....Ben Vane is a steep one, no long sloggy bits that one looked more of a slog.Ben lomond been told got a long sloggy bit as well,its all good to me Peter.Guess its crampon time soon not got any but Billy getting me a set.Looking at most of your vids a bivi bag seems a better option than a tent if i want to stay up there.We be out in the white stuff soon i hope,atb Eddie

    LOVED the fields of gold..I am wondering what the small wall kind of area was there close to the summit , it looked like someone had built up a wall of sorts...from the camera it looked like it would have been maybe waist high..kind of a semi circle area..I will have to go back and see what the video time was on it..Loved your video and can't say enough thanks for it..This looks like a place my handicapped daughter might could try to go on a walk with me when I make one of my trips over there. I wish we lived there..I keep saying that and I am going to research how long at a time I can stay on a passport when I come..lol.

    • @MUNROSnCORBETTS
      @MUNROSnCORBETTS  10 років тому

      Hi maria how are you? The wee curved wall is a stone shelter some peolple have built to get a bit of respite from the typical scottish highland weather that is all to common on top of these mountains. I sat in it and drank my coffee before i came back down. they are quite common on lots of summits. take care, peter

    • @LoveIsBeautiful1910
      @LoveIsBeautiful1910 10 років тому

      How wonderful!! I was thinking if you wanted to sleep there inside the wall..it might add a bit more warmth inside one's tent. That is so thoughtful that someone took the time to build it ..
