I’m watching this almost a year after you uploaded this and I just want to say thank you. Not just for this video, but I can’t tell you how many videos I’ve watched that have helped me not only make an informed decision on certain things but to also feel confident enough to start the process. From finding the right type of copier to the paper and ink and setting up the printer. Your videos are definitely a godsend for me and I’m sure everyone else that has encountered them. Thank you so much!
Thank you!
I had received my Epson printer about 6 months ago. Filled the tanks w Sublimation ink then fumbled trying to figure out how to start. Last week started. Many mistakes then got a few good items, now the quality of the prints are faded. All sublimation groups say, “Jenn!”. I’m struggling and wanting to learn and have been binge watching your videos. You’re so sweet, so kind and teach so well. Thank you for being you. A true blessing. ❤
I'm taking the leap into sublimation. I've only had my Cricut for less than a month! I bought the Joy to try it out and found your channel when trying to learn. You got me so motivated that I can do it that I went and bought the Cricut Maker 3! Then I found your playlist for sublimation and now I am jumping into doing both! Love your videos. They are so straightforward and I love how you share your mistakes and even leave your mess ups in your videos, makes me not feel so silly when I do! I've already made 6 mugs with Vinyl and bought some Bo-Bo Balloons from your video with the flowers. I'm doing those for Mother's Day! I cannot wait to see what else you have on your channel! They are so informational and easy to follow.
Wow! That's awesome!
I absolutely LOVE your sublimation cookbook! This video is great! Thank you for all you do for us crafters.
Thanks so much! Glad to hear that! ❤️
Wonderful. Another bubble bath while watching a Jennifer Maker video. I can’t wait to make my daughters graduation garden flag.
Fantastic workshop. I hate to say it, but I have done most of these. I know to keep going and my projects get better and better. Thanks Jennifer for teaching me so much. I also love your new sublimation cookbook. It is amazing!
Thanks so much! 😃❤️
Eeek! 😆 I got an EcoTank 2800 yesterday (from Santa)! I'm so nervous to get it setup for sublimation... But I took Jennifer's advice and I'm just going to DO IT... as soon as Amazon delivers my supplies (thank goodness for "same day delivery")!!! 🤣 Of course I'll be rewatching all of Ms. Maker's sublimation videos for her awesome step by step instructions.
I have a feeling that just like when I started with my Cricut, 2 Christmases ago, my family won't see me until spring. 😉 Happy crafting!
Mission Accomplished! I too feared infamous sublimation printer conversion! It sounded soooo complicated, mathematical & surgical! Once I got past the “fear” (it took 2 years), it wasn’t so scary. It was actually really easy. I’m actually happy that the 7720 was sold our during 2020 so I had to wait long enough for tank systems to replenish. Once I got started, my first order PAID for all of my equipment! Thanks for this video. 🎉
Glad to hear that! 😃
Thank you! Looking forward to this camp! Love you!!!
Awesome! Thanks so much!
I love the "Stand on My Shoulders" quote!!! You are an inspiration!
Aww, thanks so much!
So thankful I am watching this video!
I'm thankful you're watching 💗
I just bought my Sublimation printer yesterday and I"m SOOO thankful to have found this video BEFORE I started making things. You are are my go-to teacher for all things Critcut. I'm almost halfway through this and have learned numerous things to keep handy. Thank you!!
I'm so happy to hear that! Thank you!
Watching the replay - from the outset - what a great tip to feather the edges of your sublimation paper!!
Happy to hear you liked that, Denise!
Catching up today, didn't make it home it time yesterday to view live. To be fair, I watch your videos several times before I try something new. I purchased a Sawgrass 500 after watching your video comparing printers a few times. I have had the pressure mark outline on soft blankets using the easy press with too much pressure. I used the Cricut sublimation shirts and one cotton shirt with glow in the dark HTV under the sublimation successfully. I have printed on the wrong side of the paper using the TruePix paper that came with the Sawgrass printer. I have made mugs with the Cricut mug press using infusible ink sheets and prints from my printer without mistakes I can remember. Have not tried the tumblers, but I am listening to all of your tips. Mirroring, oh yes I have forgotten that and have done it in design space, then the Sawgrass mirrored again. I now have your Sublimation Cookbook, which is SO helpful and gives me more courage to try new things. Thank you for spending so much of your time to help all of us with projects. Your ideas and designs are amazing and I love that you share them with us.
Thank you for sharing your mistakes, too! Understanding that mistakes happen, and we can correct from them, is very important!
I am enjoying your videos and since I have yet to try using my printer, I am learning so much. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I hope you try it!🥰
Thank you for your help walking through step by step is throughly A super way to teach us to get craft done ..❤
Glad it was helpful and you enjoyed it! 💗
I did bought one and never used yet and really need to start, now you inspire me to start
Wonderful! Go for it!
Thank you for your Mistakes. I have made quite a few myself. I love your New Cook Book.
Happy to make mistakes! 😁🤣 I'm glad you like the Cook Book!
i just got printer yesterday and could not wait! I was going to watch the camp first but I loaded up the ink and got after it! I had an idea and it worked fantastically!! I am going to watch and see if you or anyone else at camp mentions this. (hint: I did not use polyester!!)
Great job on just jumping in and trying it -- congratulations, Elizabeth!
Bought my machine this week, added the sublimation ink the next day after it arrived. Plan on doing my first project tomorrow!!
Happy to hear this, Darleena!
I got mine already changed over, let it sit for a few months... then had to take it all apart to fix a clog and stop it from leaking... i pray i never have to do it again, but i am very proud of myself that i was able to do it
Good job on figuring it out! 🥰
Thank you for that tip I better use it today 😮
I bought the epson 2800 for sublimation and the hippo ink and print some thing once a week to keep the heads from drying out. It works great for an inexpensive sub printer.
It does! Printing at least once a week is the way to go.
Most of my t-shirt sublimations are on 100% cotton using DTF powder and film and they turn out great!
tell me more, please
Awesome!
How do not get roller marks on the film from epsom ecotank
How do they hold up in the wash?
Your videos are very informative and inspiring, thank you!
Glad you like them!
Thank-you Jennifer I'll check it out.
Great! Please do!
I got the courage to set mine up, I love it
Wonderful!
thank you this video. I'm new in sublimation and your video help me so much.
I'm so glad!🥰
Jenniter you're reading my mind!! I have my printer, paper and ink just sitting in the office!! I get the rush of anxiety every time I think about adding the ink lol. Thanks for saying this
you're welcome🥰
Same!!! Once everything got delivered, it sat for MONTHS because every time I looked at all of it, I got so much anxiety - I'm not the best when it comes to learning new technology, so this has been a huge lesson in patience for me! You're not alone!!
Omg the sublimation cookbook!!!!!!!!!! Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Thank you for sharing about the yellow tape --- this happened to me and was a wasted blank!
Yeah, it's such a frustrating mistake!
You are the best!!! Thank you!!
It's my pleasure! Thank you ❤️
I really appreciate your honesty and down to earth instructions! You are m my3
You are my favorite utuber.
I am nothing if not honest and down to earth! Of course, that means I'm not good at other things, LOL!
Thank you for the advice! Heat tape is definitely needed. I messed up and didn’t use tape and my picture transferred twice in two spots! 😤
Just a big thank youuuuu 👌
IGot a cricut maker 3, a press and Epson Ecotank, didn't know before buying it that it was for sublimate on polyester and my preference goes to cotton 🤭 so thank you for all your explanations, tips, telling what and how to use it. 🙏
Happy to help! 😃❤️
You are so right! I have everything to make Tumblers but I have yet to try it. I bought an HTVRONT heat press. I have my convection oven, all the supplies. I just havent tried it yet. I’m with you on the tape dispenser. My rolls of tape doesn’t even fit on my dispenser.
So, what is stopping you? You can do it!! I'd love to see what you make🥰
I bought a sawgrass years ago tried for DAYS literally days trying to get it set up and to print properly. I finally gave up. I watched your video about how to set up an eco tank and was able to set it up and get a good print within 2 hours. The ink cartridges are too expensive for a sawgrass anyway so it's probably for the best. Thanks for your help in getting the Epson set up : )
You are so welcome!
I always learn from my failures! Sometimes I even discover something new!
Yes! Failures lead to learning something new and success! 😃
I haven't bought one yet, this me doing my research first, but I plan on getting 1 soon.
Yes I was afraid of the printer too. Took me a while. But I did it!
Yay!💗
I have a Epson in the box and sublimation ink in the box ! Ugh ! I am going to take the class this Thursday! I hope this gives me the kick I need
You got this! 😃❤️
Hi Jennifer, I did the something, but I finally took it out the box, and i have tried to print and I did print but the sublimation did happen, I have Epson ET 2803 and I did put the sublimation ink in it.
Thanks for this video. Loved all the information. I have an epson ecotank printer I converted. Haven't used it for a few weeks - yikes! Downloaded your purge file but allI get is one 1/2" black line across the page. Is anyone else having a problem printing it?
Thank you for your videos! I always learn so much from them. My question is in regards to sublimating Cricut mugs with a design printed on Rikoh sublimation paper, printed from my Sawgrass SG500. I find that every design which I've created and printed and used my Cricut mug press to transfer, has a faded appearance. However, when I use sublimation ink sheets for designs to be transferred onto Cricut mugs using the Cricut mug press, they show beautiful and vibrant colours. My question: should I shorten the time that I keep the mug in the press for my Sawgrass designs? My thoughts were that maybe there is too much heat being applied for too long a period of time and so the design that was transferred is actually being faded. Suggestions?
The Cricut mug press is set up for the Infusible Ink. You can ask in the group to see if anyone has used the Rikoh paper with the Cricut mug press. facebook.com/groups/sublimationmadeeasy
I ordered my first printer to sublimated. Epson 4800 and Hiipoo ink should be here Monday!
That's so exciting🥰
The lions are gorgeous!!!!
Thank you, Debbie!
I love sublimation and my printer. Still learning.
Wonderful! ❤️
Thank you for this informative video. I am new to sublimation and bought both a silicone mat and Teflon sheets as recommended by other (less experienced!) crafters. Do you recommend NOT using either? (I'm only halfway through the video, so I may have more questions...😊) Thanks.
There are so many ways to do things. Some prefer using the teflon sheets and some don't. You really need to just find what works for you🥰
Hey, I just want to say thank you, thank you and thank you and all of your people who worked behind the scenes to make all of your videos possible. So today is 1-7-24. And of course your workshop has passed. But I still wanted to see your workshop. And when I found it, it wanted me to pay $99. So I was confused when you said free workshop. I did pay for the cookbook. My main thing I want to do is sublimation on dark colors. I hate white lol. All I can find is cotton not polyester. Which is a pain for me. Is there a website that I can go to, to get cheap polyester shirts ? Please help
Got the free ticket and AAP already!
Woot!
Hope you feel better.! Our Michigan weather does not help any.
Thank you!
Hi Jennifer thanks for all your help, I used to sublimate but stopped because the company I bought ink for got too expensive. Can you share what type of printer u are using and the paper. I appreciate all your help. I have bought many of your training courses. Just was dragging but ready to get started and maybe make a few bucks. Thank you thank you!!
Hi Renea! I'm using an Epson ecotank and A-Sub paper. I have it all listed and linked on my blog 💗
I haven’t even opened my boxes: printer, heat press, ink, cricut, etc. so much stuff and I’m terrified I’ll fail and it was all for nothing! 🙄
You can do this!! 😊🌻
Just start small and focus on 1 project at a time. jennifermaker.com/sublimation-for-beginners/
Jennifer you made me run to my printer.... (Printer Purge sheet) Great Idea! #10 How long does the HTV you sub on last on the shirt? Thank you for your videos...
The HTV lasts about as long as any other HTV on a shirt, so no where near as long as sublimation. But if you apply it right and wash it with care, it should last at least 50 washes (give or take). By the way, loved the trailer video on your channel.
Hi.Thanks for your videos! You are an amazing teacher! I have an epson sublimation F170, why colors looks different from the images I have downloaded, they’re from Creative Fabric but if I printed in a regular printer colors are the same? TIA
Because sublimation ink is heat activated and the colors do not appear vibrant until you press them, whereas the inkjet ink does not work the same way. Still, the colors can appear different even when pressed -- different ink, different color profiles will give you different colors. You would need to use or create a different color profile for your sublimation ink if you wanted to attempt to match them exactly, which sounds like way more work than it is worth. :)
Thank you so much! Another question before to print , I looked a sign like this: sync color or Epson control colors.. which one could be better? Machine has the second one.
Ohhhhh that’s so me I’ve smiled at it but not tried it yet lol ,will u be having another sublimation camp xx
You can sign up anytime for it. academy.jennifermaker.com/p/sublimation-startup
Thank u so much xxxxxxxx
where do you get your sublimation cookbook. I use your videos for everything. There great Thank- You
You can get the digital copy on my blog and the print copy on Amazon! 🥰
Will you be doing another free sublimation camp?? I would love to attend, but missed the one earlier this year because I am just starting off with sublimation
We will most likely do it again next year🥰
Me too I having use my sublimation printer in awhile 😊
Yep. My printer has sat there for a year as well. Ink is loaded now. 😊
YAY! 😊🌻
great video . What should I put inside the shirt so the dye doesnt affect the back side of the shirt?
You can put another piece of cardstock inside!🥰
Yes
😃❤️
I loved and enjoyed this video. How offend do you have the sublimation camp
We have more information here - jennifermaker.com/sublimation-for-beginners 😊🌻
I actually love all the technical issues. It just makes me laugh. It’s real life.
Yes, that's 100% real life!!
Jennifer I love all the information that you provide us with, but I do have a question. How do you sublimate a white project on a black shirt. I am totally lost with this. Thanking you in advance for your help
To get sublimation ink onto a black shirt, you need to add a white layer of something like EasySubli or another HTV. Watch this video to understand more: ua-cam.com/video/Rv1-IlRyCr0/v-deo.html
Thank you for sharing your experience! I would like to ask you a question pls I am moving to another country and shipping items take 6-8 weeks how to keep safe from drying out my converted eco tank printer ?
The inkjets can get clogged with that much time. that the printer is not in use.
I use the Siser multipurpose paper when I use HTV. It does have a glossy side. I'm torn on whether to use it - I dont have any butcher paper. I have to order some.
It's best not to use coated paper, because it can trap moisture. 😊🌻
I've had it out of the box for almost a month now. It's all set up But have not printed a thing!!! I have a Sawgrass 500, kept on!! I have watched part and Have the all pass. I have your Subliflower downloaded though!!! I have too many irons in the fire plus I'm too scatter brained to stick to one thing!!! Grrrrrr I have over 3 yrds of white poly fabric to test on! Let us see all of your tests!
Go for it! You can do it. jennifermaker.com/sawgrass-setup/
hello, very good video and helped me a lot! Thank you! But I have a question.
When we are putting our transfer on the mug and using tape to put it in place- Can we put the tape on designs(example if it corners) ?
Does the colors will stay vibrant and not change because of the tape? Please answer
The tape holds the transfer sheet in place, but you don't tape directly to the surface, the ink will not transfer through the tape. 😊🌻
thank you very much! you are my favorite! you know how to tell info simple and show it. Im Glad, I find your page💜@@JenniferMaker
Very informative video thank so much for sharing, I have mistakes
1. I loaded Epason printer with the ink came with it first mistake 😅
2. I don’t know why shirts turned yellow even though I use heat sheet on top of the sublimation paper, is it because it’s 100% cotton?
3. I use DTF transfer paper and still it doesn’t transfer the colors right I now know it’s because of the ink😅
4. What is the setting for the printer please as some people say use glossy what do u recommend?
We have all the steps listed in the tutorial on our blog, the link is in the description above. The yellowing can happen if the heat it too high or the press time is to long. Try throwing in a tbsp of hydrogen peroxide in with the shirt in the laundry. It should help to remove the yellow mark. 😊🌻
Thanks for the video. I remembered to purchase sublimation ink to convert my Ecotank but crossed the Black and Cyan colors up in the ink well. Will I still be able to use my printer?
You can ask in the group for help with that. I have not encountered it. facebook.com/groups/sublimationmadeeasy
@@JenniferMaker Ok, Thanks. I did that
I’ve not started sublimation yet as I need to save up for a printer
I’ve got a circuit mug press on the way xx
I love the Cricut Mug Press!
It took me 6 months after buying too unpack printer sg500 🙉🙈
And I did my first cup perfect 😃
Blessings Jennifer! Thank you for your wonderful classes!! For some reason I can not get my Cricut to pair with my printer, so I had to send my picture straight to the printer and unfortunately the letters on the sublimation picture came out backwards because I don’t know how mirror my image from my Epson Ecotank 2400 printer? What can I do??
You can mirror it in your printer settings. Here is a tutorial jennifermaker.com/epson-ecotank-setup-video/ This group is very helpful. facebook.com/groups/sublimationmadeeasy
I jumped right in on new sublimation printer
Awesome!
@Jennifer Maker I waited for a year after trying the cricut machine because it was overwhelming. Then I found you and that won't happen with anything new again, lol. Thank you Jennifer for all I learned from you.
I would really love to watch a video on how to add pictures to the tumbler like you did on your retreat tumbler! I’m brand new but want to add pictures to tumblers! What program do you use?
You can use Google Drawings! 🥰
Hello I am having issues with my sublimation prints appearing dull. I currently use an iPhone. If I bought an IPad would I be able to adjust the color settings as you suggest ?
It's best to use a laptop/desktop as iOS doesn't have a way to use ICC profiles at this time. 😊🌻
You have a very good tutorial. I have my scan&cut new one for more than a year, and I still has not use it. It's too intimidating. I bought because it's a brother brand to go along with my new embroidery machine Brother Luminaire XP2.
You can do it!
If you set up your ECO tank Epson printer with the sublimation ink, can you use it to print normal word and excel documents on regular copy paper. (Reason - It would be rather expensive to have a dedicated printer for sublimation and a second one for regular office use.) Thank you. Second part of this question: If I already put the regular ink in my Tanks, Can I change to Sublimation ink at a later date?
No, you will need a dedicated printer for sublimation unfortunately. And for your second question, it can be done, however I have not done that so not sure how involved or problematic that would be. The best place to ask would be in my Sublimation FB Group, facebook.com/groups/sublimationmadeeasy
I can hear you! :)
Yay!
Do you have any tutorials on how to .ake your own tumbler template? I haven't found one I can understand yet. Or do you have any availability in your library?
Yes, there are a lot of templets in the library. If may be easier to do a search for jennifermaker tumblers for the blog posts and link to the library from the materials list. jennifermaker.com/glitter-tumbler-tutorial/
I've done this: I forgot to mirror the image; then when I did get the mirroring right, I pressed it upside down!!! Two-two-two mistakes on one project! LOL
Lol! Been there, done that many times! 😁❤️
I watched a ton of videos first and said no to it. But then I am buying pre made designs from Etsy making someone else income, so I bought the printed and jumped right in. I still have a couple of issues with some weird dots of color here and there so working on how to correct that but my stuff is selling!!!
Funny how things work out! Happy to hear your things are selling!
Jennifer I've been doing my research on sublimation tumblers for months now. I finally have everything to start. I made my first 20 ounce tumbler yesterday and everything was perfection EXCEPT it had tape marks on the top from where I taped the top edge down tightly. How do I solve this issues since I have to tape the edges down tightly enough. 😞
Some heat transfer tape leaves marks. The Cricut blue heat transfer tape I have found does not leaves marks for me.
@@JenniferMaker that’s the one I used, BUT I think I know what I did wrong… I had it in my heat press too long. None of the others I made have the marks once I reduced the time and temp slightly. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I've tried glow-in-the-dark. The color spreads over time for me. What brand did you use?
I like the Cricut brand of vinyl, it's a good quality. 😊🌻
Hi, are those 2 welcome signs behind you used sublimation method?
No, those are actually done with permanent vinyl 💗
Q; iv seen alot of dtf with transfer film and the white powder.. I always see blacks dots and bits of mess when they shown results.. What is this and how to stop it?
Yeah, in my experience it is really finicky. I'm not a huge fan of it, for many reasons, and that's one. The powder sticks to any ink, so if you have bits of ink -- or other stuff the powder can stick to -- you get dots and a general mess.
I am working on the Faux Leather Journals like the one you made the subliflower journal with. I made one as well and it turned out great now I made my own design the design printed out perfect (Epson ecotank coverrted with Hiipoo ink and A-sub 125 paper) but when i pressed it (traditional press) at 350 deg for 60 seconds it has a green tint to it (suppose to be more pale pink. any suggestion for what might be happening here?
You can do a test print with the icc profiles to check the color. You can show pictures in the group to get further help with this if you like. facebook.com/groups/sublimationmadeeasy
@@JenniferMaker Thank you, I've tried sharing with the group on Facebook however by the time my post is approved I don't think anyone is seeing it. I know this probably does not make sense but I've tried three time sand never get responses so I don't know what else to do. I'll check the icc profiles but I had them set up and have made other items that came out fine.
@@JenniferMaker Oh and by the way love your videos!!
my epson eco tank was so easy to set up with sub ink, no different from normal ink
Glad to hear that. 😃
Mistake number 1 is me right now, mine is in the box
You know what to do! 😊❤️
I can hear you!
Thanks!
Only got my heat press today so will be doing my printer tomorrow I've had it for almost a month 😅
Congratulations!
Speaking to the printer "use it once a week or it will dry up" point: can I print out projects and save them (in a dark place/folder) to heat press at a later date?
Yes! 😊🌻
How do you add the seam edge with a saying like yours from the camp, like made by with love?
You can use Canva to design.
@@JenniferMaker thank you, I’m trying to learn Canva and Inkscape
what causes the sub paper to stick and hard to remove from the shirt? also what causes the color to be dull?
You may need to reduce the heat, time, and pressure settings. If this does not fix the paper sticking issue, this often means that the sublimation paper being used may simply not be compatible with the surface of the sublimation product it is used on.
My cyan is not printing and so how many purge sheets do you print to get it working. I have an Epson eco tank
Is it clogged? My group is very helpful. facebook.com/groups/sublimationmadeeasy
I hve a ticket! But I actually upgraded to the longer version since I’ll b out of town next weekend n can’t craft
You're going to love it!
Does the hippo ink work with all Eco Tank printers? I picked one up at Costco and the model is not listed
Yes, you should be able to use it in any of the epson ecotank printers 💗
I need to know if you can put a mug in the Cricut mug press more than once. (Example: once with flower wreath and second time with alphabet in middle. Help
It would be best in one shot. You can ask in the group to see if anyone has done this successfully. facebook.com/groups/sublimationmadeeasy
i always do this
Which one, lol?! 💗
