*** This video shows a Top Speed test and comparison between the Stock 550 brushed motor of Wltoys 124019 v/s the 540 motor taken from Wltoys A959-B.
This is a simple mod of just changing the brushed motor if you want to go +10 km/h faster than stock but without going to the more complicated conversion to brushless system.

Thanks! No, because it is not a direct swap .. these two cars have different designs of spur connection to central drive shaft

excellent video. I always find ways to make my brushed rc cars faster without having to strip out the electronics. This is a great hack! I realize some guys/gals like to see how fast they can make it go but do you really need this little rc car to go more than almost 40mph?? I don't really think so...LOL quick question? is the 12428 540 motor the same motor? they cost different amounts of money with the 12428 540 being a bit cheaper. You should buy one and do a test to see if you get the same speed or if it is faster or slower than the 540 from the a959B
Thanks ! Yes, I always wanted to make this little car go as fast as possible so check the latest video reaching 102 MPH . About the stock brushed 540 or 550 motors, I noticed a difference of speed in wltoys rc cars because they used different Turns ... will make a video comparison soon.
Wow, 10km/h increase for just swapping to a smaller brushed motor! That must be the easiest and cheapest 10km/h gain possible. Bigger not always better! 😁

Thank's champ, this is an important engine comparison video..so from my understanding you lose a bit or torque on 540 for like bashing and gain 540 top end speed is that what's happening.? 10km/h is quite good for people into speed increase for sure..

Nice! But does the 550 motor then fit in the A959-B frame...?
The 550 motor is too long for the A959-B, so you can only use the 540 motor from A959-B to mod your 124019 or 144001 cars
Nice! I might try this on my 124019 as a transition to brushless. Did you ever thought about brushless conversion to the smaller 2845 motor on your Wtoys cars? Specifically that 124019. It's getting more popular to do that and I see the benefits of it. Lighter motor and longer battery life. I think 3650 motors are a bit of an overkill for people who dont do speedruns.
Thanks ! Yes, I have several 2845 brushless motors and I made a video comparison of their max, RPMs using a 2s lipo ... i already used some of them in my other Wltyos rc cars ... and I am also planning to use one of them in my 124019 👍

@@Molekulasti sorry, I have 2838 motors , and not 2845 ... and the video comparison was already uploaded earlier. You can also check my two A959 builds that already used two fo these motors.
@@RcModwerks23 It doesn't really matter. I'm interested in 28xx series. There are some workarounds to make it work and you seem to know your stuff.

I donw own any XLF F17, and I dont know what motor it has ... so I cant compare it to the 540 motor of A595-B. But generally if you compare a brushed motor v/s brushless with the same size, the brushless motor is more powerful and more efficient.

The stock motor mount, it is a direct swap.
Would the dynamite 13t 550 brushed motor be better as i see its same price as the wltoys motor i have the wltoys 144001
I dont have that motor,... it can be a good upgrade if you want more speed, but the stock ESC might easily get hot

Actually it is the opposite, the smaller 540 motor of the A959B has more RPM than the 550 motor of the 124019

They are the same size but might be different in Turns, so you might not get the same result

Hi, how many turns is the wltoys 550 / 540 motor?
I think they are 27T & 17T ... but I need to prove that later by opening these motors and actually counting the turns

I have a Zroad buggy from Banggood with a 540 brushed but it's sk slow 🥱 only goes about 35km/u. If i use a 540 from wltoys it will be quicker? Or doesnt it make any difference?
I am not sure if you can gain speed by using
Wltoys 540 motor, but the main issue is the gearing ... other rc cars are geared lower than the Wltoys that is why they are slower

@@Mikey23058 Wltoys use 44T Spur and 27 Pinion ... sorry I cannot recommend any specific gearing for your rc car because i am not familiar with it

@@Mikey23058 No worries, using a smaller pinion gear will increase your speed but will lose acceleration and motor will get hot easily

Actually I dont have that 13T brushed motor, but I think you willl get +15 km/h more in top speed.

Hi, I installed the 540 motor but lost 10km. The 550 motor achieved 51km and the 540 max out at 40km. Any ideas why. Thanks
That depends on how many turns the new 540 have ... if it was the 540 motor from A959-B or A979-B , it should be +10 km/h faster than stock 50 motor
Item was purchased from the link. How do you tell if it’s the correct motor. Do the numbers on the motor identify if it’s the correct motor.
@@sandro7912 Generally they show the Turns of the brushed motors , but I think the turns are not mentioned in Wltoys 540 motors. As per my research the Wltoys 540 motor is equivalent to 17T and the Max RPM was +26,000 RPM . Here is my test video : ua-cam.com/video/ctQXJiw6Rus/v-deo.html
If you did exactly the same as I did in the video ( direct swap from 550 to 540 motor ), then please check that your Throttle Trim is at Maximum so that yoo can also get the Maximum Speed.
Will an LC racing screw set work on the WLtoys kits?

Yes, but you can gain very little top speed increase since 104001 is very low geared

Yes A959B is quicker even if you put the same motor because it is lighter and has smaller spur gear
with 144001 my 550 motor gets hot after 8 mins of hard runs on stock 1500 2s... going 3s would not be very smart and would fry motor esc for sure.
yes, all my wltoys with 550 brushed motor easily gets hot, so I always upgrade to brushless system
Is 19t or 21t or 15 better ?
The choice of motor actually depends on how you want to use your rc car, keeping in mind that lower turn means more RPM.
I want to run bigger wheels on my 124018. The 550 smoked and I'm gonna try a 540 but need more torque due to the increased load. I'm hoping the 19t I ordered does it. My first motor swap.

@@josephplatania5593 If you changed to bigger wheels, you could have bought a 27t or 32t brushed motor .. and if you want more torque you could have stayed with a 550 instead of the smaller 540 size motor

At the end of the video the 540 motor looked the same length as the stock 550 motor.
