- It's been a while! - Some two years since my last unboxing video. This one is the first one that I have done since moving house in 2021. There are some older packages that have been crying out to be unboxed and everyday I have thought about how I could make it happen.
Well here it is. A mixture of Matchbox cars and random donations one of which brought a tear to my eye!
I hope you like the unboxing of these generous gifts as much as I did!
Thanks to the following people:
Mike Symonds, Lowestoft, England.
Chris Rush, Kingston, Tasmania.
Chuck & Barbara Falor, Boise, Idaho, USA.
Lothar Renz, Stuttgart, Germany.
Ryan Lazik, Northridge, California, USA.
Greg Cunningham, Winsor, Ontario, Canada. (R.I.P.)

Thank you Marty for opening my brother Gregs box. My brother Rob and Greg watched your videos all the time so when I found the box addressed to you after he passed away I knew I had to send it. Thank you for fulfilling his wishes of you opening the box.The Cunningham family.
My sincerest condolences on the loss of your brother... 😭 From the wonderful package he left for Marty, he must have been a very good man. ((((((((((hugs))))))))))
@@DonnaMSchmid thank you so much. He was and I miss him tremendously.
Joanne Lauzon - thank you for sharing your loss. I sold a Corgi 1142 Holmes Wrecker to a man in Texas. After a time I followed up on the delivery, and he told me that he had just had open heart surgery and may not see the model for a while. I can only assume that (the Corgi 1142) was the one thing he wanted to bring to heaven.
@@davidlegault2749 you made his request a reality hoping hes enjoying it wherever he is.
Oh wow. This information has really touched me.
I didn’t know your brother but he was a member of the MMM family.
Please accept my sincere condolences and prayers for strength, reassuring and peace.
Ian, France
The "d" stands for "Denarius", the old roman name for the basic unit of currency. Interestingly, the "s" in "£.s.d" (pounds, shillings and pence) did not stand for shilling, but for "solidus", the next step up in the units of payment.
Denarius roughly translates at "denomination" or more specifically in this case "unit", therefore, 1d = 1 unit (of a pound, which was 240 d, or 12 shillings)
I was about to google this then I thought nah, Marty's readers will be right on it!. And you were, thanks!
It's the same with nails. They are graded by "d" and it reflected the cost per 100. So a 6d nail costs 6 cents/Pence per 100. Denarius is from the Latin word deni, which means "containing 10". The Roman denarius was a silver coin worth 10 asses.
Interesting that Pounds, Shillings and Pence, were abbreviated to Lsd. 😃
I remember my gran saying that. She said they never had enough Lsd when they were kids!
The same Roman "libra" for pounds currency also gave the "lb" abbreviation for pounds weight (or mass really).
@@barticle I can't stand people who use "mass" over weight. Such a stupid change in the way describe objects.
Marty's Matchbox has the most welcoming and comforting theme music in all of UA-cam. I'm greatly relieved to see that Marty is back and in fine fettle! The content is always fantastic; I've been a subscriber for years, but there's my dirty little secret: I mostly keep coming back for the gorgeous intro theme music.
Very true - a lullaby
I've been watching his videos for years as well, the first time I heard the music running in the background I thought, how annoying, the next time I thought that's OK, now I can't wait to hear it, I know there's going to be some great content. Wouldn't be the same without it.
As do I!! As well as seeing Marty & Kevin’s antics, misadventures, & escapades!! I love Kevin
What is web site or eBay nickname from Chuc Faylor restoration customized… ? Thanks
When I was a kid me and my friends used to take our matchbox cars and we would soak them in gasoline and set them on fire. Sometimes we would smash them with a sledgehammer. Sometimes we would throw them off our roof tops. The best was if the doors opened we would shove a grasshopper or beetle inside and then soak it in gasoline and set it on fire and watch the bug burn up too. Wonderful childhood memories. Love your channel. Also one time we built a model of the battleship Bismarck, stuffed it full of firecrackers and gasoline and blew it to bits. Many grasshoppers were also killed in that incident. Not a matchbox but still a great memory
I am a lifelong scale modeler, most of my 65 years. I miss the pamphlets showing model kits and other products ftom various model kit companies - notably Tamiya, Monogram, Hawk, Lindberg, etc.
What do you call a night with a magic fish?
.
A Salmon Chanted Evening.
I'll be here all week!
I will say I'm happy to have found your channel and I'm currently in the process of restoring/customizing a 1968 matchbox number 58 girder truck. I have gotten the old paint cleaned off and waiting for a warmer day to paint outside. Hope you have a nice day and good luck
You dd well Marty. The customized van was the cat's meow. You are loved by so many people whom without the internet, it would not have been possible.
Marty, thank you,,your videos give me a "Mental Makeover " When my day's are trying or stressful I go straight to my youtube tablet and tune you in with a coffee and in a few minutes or so iam somewhat relaxed and I enjoy your show, I have loved Matchbox truck's mostly but enjoyed all since 1959 with my first moving van , Thanks 😊
Marty , Thank you so very much for opening Gregs package. He would be happy to know that it made it to you and that we could see it be opened. Thank you Thank you
Excellent unboxing! We love to watch them! We love the van as well, a reward for all your hard work!
Atta boy Greg Cunningham, putting Windsor on the map! GO SPITS GO!
My earliest memory of Matchbox was my father bringing them home as souvenirs from business trips, and this would have been 1965 at the latest. And just in those first few pages of the 1969 catalog, I recognize so many models from that time! Thank you!
Ok I think I need to get that shirt!!!! Omg Marty that thing looks so good!
Marty, that model from Chuck is a wonderful tribute. It speaks for all of us. 👍
I need Kevin to ship it to me in Thailand!
Julie pinching that box of chocolate was hilarious. I’m surprised you got it back unopened and full. Lol Thanks for the video.
Hi Marty, It's pronounced "Boy-zee" Idaho. great to see you back.
I was about to post exactly that.
❤ to see Marty
Marty, It thrills me to see you back. You are looking healthy. Love your new property. Keep the reels coming. God Bless you and your family.
It is great to see you back in the old routine.
Happy 2023 Marty and Julie. Tell Kevin to behave himself - not that he will.
What a charming chap. Can't wait for the next one.
Hey Marty!!......that's pronounced "BoyZee" Idaho. We want more Kevin & makeovers please!! Glad you're back.
Keep going, Marty! Eagerly awaiting your next video!
Nice haul there Marty 👍
Great unboxing 🌴👍👍😎🌴
Glad to see you posting again, G'Day from Tampa Bay
I used to get that number 15 bus to school every morning.happy days
The lovely people you are...❤😊
Boy-zee! Boise, Idaho! Lol. Love ya, Marty! I'm telling ya, we should do a challenge! Much love and great video! -Vic
I’m up late at night stuck at home feeling like garbage with the big C. So happy to have this drop, always enjoy your videos!
We have Big C supermarkets in Thailand - maybe they should change the name NOW
Very cool! Been watching for a few years, from Las Vegas Nevada USA! Thanks Marty!
Pronounced "Boyzee", Idaho. Love your videos. Keep them coming.
Those buses,Marty, are made by either Seerol or Zylmex.Zylmex aquired the old Corgi dies from themselves.and it shows, very low on detailing.Nice to see you back on Yt.
I have that same Matchbox catalogue. Given to me by the newsagency here in Singapore that I used to buy my Matchbox cars from way back then.
Hey Mate, always nice to see your videos,
the white van with your face and Kevin is awesome a very great gift.
I'm looking forward to see the Land Rover 109 restoration with the caravan behind it and some surfboards on the roof 😎for a real Aussie adventure
G'day from Cuxhaven and welcome to the new year 🎉😉
Yes, it's been a long time since there was an unboxing, great that this part of your programme continues again 👍🏼😃
All the tools for your makeovers, some very interesting models and new (old 😜) cameras for your collection are.... JOU
(pron. YO, northern german for Yes, Ok, splendid and some more).
The whole thing "spiced up" with delicious chocolate 🍫😜👍🏼
But the absolute star of the show is the furniture van (11:37).
An excellent conversion and an awesone tribute to your great work 🤩 (Special highlight on it... KEVIN in the back window 🔎🐨 🤣👍🏼).
I'll have to put together a package for you soon too. I know you collect die-cast aeroplane models too and I have a few pieces here that will definitely, feel at home on "Marty-Airport". 😜
All in all...
Right up my alley 👍🏼
Thanks so much for sharing 🙏🏼 definitely a thumbs up from me for this 👍🏼
Happy new week to you, Julie and the "team behind the scene" and stay safe and sound.
Keep up the good work, mate 😁
Greetings from the DCcoB (Die-Cast crazy old Bloke) at the lighthouse end of the Elbe River.
😎👍🏼🇦🇺✌🏼🇩🇪👍🏼🤠
(P.S. 40°C... Current weather situation at the North Sea: Sunny at a "pleasant" 7°C.
For us coastal dwellers: T-shirt ! A jacket is not absolutely necessary 🤣)
the van is way cooool. marty you deserve it. thanks we miss you and the wife.
So glad your back. I've been a subscriber since your first video. Haven't missed one yet. Take care of yourself and say hi to Julie and even Kevin.
So glad your back Marty, missed you, looking forward to some more restorations!
Hey Marty, thanks again for the great content. Just a quick correction, Windsor, Ontario is in Canada. Keep up the great work!
No, it's Canada EH!
The Zebra truck it from a cartoon from the early 2000’s called Chuck the Talking Truck and Friends. My now adult sons watched it here in the US when they were children.
that personalized van is fantastic, what a heartwarming gift. :D
I'm glad you approve of my shippings. enjoy the choklit, but do it slowly. in my experience these kinds of chocolate are ninjas; they vanish fast and silently. ;)
if I recall right I included what I could research about the cameras in my letter. the heavy cam is one of their better products I think. "Revue" used to be a brand of home movie, photography, and accessoires equipment, mostly catering to mail-order warehouses and one or two of our warehouse chains. with their decline during the 90's, the brand vanished as well.
all knives blunt? I'd try and find out what new antic that koala had been up to lately. ;)
That OCL container likely went with the Matchbox Harbour/Seaport or Container Port playsets. We have the Seaport and Harbour sets (which are nearly identical). We also have bits from the Container Port including the unloader, the containers, an all-plastic diesel shunter and the container ship.
The de-icer was maybe part of an airport set? Like the ones where you get a jetliner and service trucks?
Awesome to see an unboxing video again. So happy you are starting up again.
Hi Marty!, long time no see.. Happy 2023!
Glad to have you back Marty.
Great to see you getting in the flow again Marty. I told my mate who owns a house removals firm that i would love to be seen on a truck, he obliged me by running me over lol
Kevin on the back door made me chuckle
That's right, Julie! Grab that chocolate!😄😄😄
Happy New year to you and your family! I love to see you again.
Boise, Idaho. It's 'boy-zee' if I'm not wrong.
that is the correct pronunciation !👍
I understand Marty, The pandemic was kind of depressing for me too and still is but I do manage to try and get through it mostly through Doing Art, Watching Movies, and opening Diecast Packs & posting the pictures on Facebook & Instagram.
Hello Marty great unboxing great to see you back and great to see mrs Marty s right hand really like these unboxing s happy healthy new year to you all

Happy New Year Marty and Julie, the little tonka car @29:45 look like it could be from the "Cars" movie franchise
Great video, Marty! Loved the special tribute one. So enjoy your videos . They are entertaining and informative. I find if I am restoring a MBX, I can go to your channel and learn a lot of tips and helps. Just used the one you did on the K2 Schamell Wreck Truck to help restore a friend's son's truck. Best to you and Julie.
Happy New Year Marty and Julie! Awesome to see you back again and feeling better!
Some good stuff there Marty, thanks for sharing it with us. Happy New Year to you all. 👍🏻🇦🇺

Happy New Year, Marty, Julie, Kevin and a big shout out to your videographer. He did a bang-up job! That's a great lot of future projects, you've got there. Looking forward to more of your quality videos.
Another great video Marty , All the very best for 2023 from Scotland
Bonne année Marty , ainsi qu'à toute la famille 👍
MARTY A HAPPY 2023 FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY... GREATNESS FROM ARUBA!!
Love the van lol :D Amazing
Good to see you again Happy New year to you and yours
Happy New Year, Marty!
@1:33 that's a tow truck or wrecker, Marty. I think it's a Ford. I got one when I was a little kid, from Life cereal (eat the cereal, mail in the box tops, get the truck). That one was a red-and-white Esso tow truck
@14:10 "Mandel" is "almond". It's also "tonsil".
@27:25 Some modelers use cat-scratch blocks to hold those alligator-clamp holders, Marty. I made my own block by cutting up some corrugated cardboard stock into strips and then gluing them cut side up in a small box. Made my own clamps, too, with a bag of alligator clamps and a bag of bamboo skewers. Very handy for airbrushing.
Great unboxing marty, some really nice and interesting peices, happy new year to you and Julie
Hello Marty and the thieving hand of Julie. Lol. So very enjoyable watching a new unboxing. I wonder how many more boxes were sent during the last couple of years? Lots of wonderful items for your model car collection and camera collection. And of course hobby supplies. The custom “ Marty “ van is wonderful. Until next time. Happy New Year.
Happy New Year! The video was a fun start to the year! 🇨🇦
Happy New Year Marty, the Mrs and of course Kevin.🇺🇸
Lovely!
Happy New Year.
I saw your post, but I was still at work, so had to wait until I got home. Nice to see you, and I hope all is well with you. As always, your videos are amazing!!
It is so nice to have you back Marty. Take care.
Great video, Marty. Thank you for sharing. All the best to you and yours in the New Year!
BTW, Boise, that city in Idaho, is pronounced Boyzee, here in the states.
Happy new year Marty and family
Happy New Year Marty! Gonna have a coffee while I watch this one! ( its 5am here )
Excellent!
@13:59 -- German chocolate. The best in the world!
I wish I could still get it locally but virtually everything but Ritter is gone from local stores!
Hello Marty, good to see you again! Greatings from Poland ❤
Pre-decimal currency, including that in Australia, was abbreviated to LSD... from the latin, Libre, Solidus and denarius for pounds shillings and pence. The pound sterling is still shown as an elaborate 'L' and 'lb' still used as the abbreviation for the pound in weight.
Another great vid, thanks Marty.
Windsor is in Canada not US. And Boise Idaho is said boy-zee. Sorry, just wanted you to know i was paying attention. Luved your first un-boxing from your great new location. I'll be watching.
Good to see you back Marty, happy new year , its nice to meet another escapee from Basing grad ! keep up the awesome work , cheers. the plane/car is a Kinder egg toy mate
Thank you Mark, my mom and I were wondering where my brother got the little blue car, it was our favorite out of the things Greg sent to Marty
A new day a new month and a new year...a new beautiful video 😄📸
Hello Marty, happy new Year and all the best to you and your family! Best wishes from Germany Günter
Happy new year marty !! What a wonderful truck whit your face on it, it makes me laugh 😊. And the chocolate says (weihnacht) and it means christmas in german.
Greetings from holland
As far I recall £ S D is the old roman coins ----- £ = Lira S = Sestertius D = Denarius ......
Thanks for your lovely vids
Happy new year to Australia.
Thank you for this brand new clip.
Greetings from Germony.👍😝🚀🥁🥁
Love your videos. I watch from Waverly, Iowa USA 🇺🇸
The slow zoom on Julie's hand had me laughing out loud.
