This was the first time a movie trailer ever made me cry. I knew, immediately this was going to be my favorite live action remake.
I loved the OG growing up, but watching it again, it was too short with some outdated concepts. Because of this new iteration, I can enjoy the story again.
Kids little mermaid movie. Children have no issues with trailer or movie. Children trailer reactions are so adorable. Children are so excited about seeing this movie. It's some of the adults whining and having issues with trailer and movie.

I cried to seeing this being my fav Disney movie growing up coming to life was so beautiful ❤ it even came out on my bday so it was special day watching it in theater with my little mermaid glow popcorn bucket!!

This movie wouldn't get the giant portion of hate if they casted a typical white girl with red hair with an average/mediocre singing voice (because she's white and has red hair, nothing else matters, it's the appearance/closeness people want to latch onto but can't because Halle looks different).

Because mermaids have no race. It plays no significance to her story, therefore, she can be of any color, and the cast is a color blind casting. Even Erik’s mother is a Black woman. And clearly, if not already sooooo obvious, she auditioned as every actress of every race did and got the role. The director and everyone loved hers the best and held her audition as the standard…which no one beat. The director talks more about it which you can search up but hope that answer your confusion

As a fan of watching the first, second and third episodes of The Little Mermaid, I love how Halle Bailey was cast as the Little Mermaid. Little Mermaid doesn't need red hair, blue eyes, white skin. It's enough to have a bright, courageous, passionate love, love songs, and have a beautiful voice. That's the identity of the Little Mermaid.
