What are your favorite guitar picks?

even as a metal player its important to be able play regardless of your gear. in this case picks. (yes metal players rely on distortion but that shouldnt be the case)
for faster playing the preference pretty thick picks. for shredding jazz 3 type picks. while ideal it helps you to be versatile in the sense that a light pick doesnt limit you.
also i dont own an acoustic guitar but i will eventually. it was just never really my priority.
if what inspires you to pick up guitar has nothing to do with acoustic why would you pick up an acoustic (still be open to new things). this playing into the fact that beginners give up too easily, doing something you actually like will be very hard to give up.
while not being true to the sound of a real piece of wood with strings thats only amplified with the guitar body itself. the only upside i see for acoustic is the level of minimalism there is with it.

Thanks for watching! I agree, if a player has no desire to play acoustic guitar then they should play what they’re having fun with. I do believe that there is strength in starting on an acoustic, although a lot of beginners want to start electric (like when I got my driver’s license I wanted to get a Corvette, but I could hardly back the family Toyota out of the driveway). That being said, I’ve totally seen beginners go from electric to acoustic with little issues, just depends on the player I guess. Btw I really like your Descendants cover and think you have a very nice and natural strum (hope it’s cool I watched it), if you ever jump on an acoustic I think you’d transition easily (not to say stop playing electric or anything). Fire 🔥 cover and dope song, love watching people play nice work.

@@StillHavens-ws8zr well when you put it like the electric is like a corvette i see your point even more. often times i fall into the trap of obsessing over the effects i can layer over my bypass. totally missing the point of my practice time.
the guitar in my master of puppets video was a guitar i dug up from an abandoned house but it was in a case so suprisingly it still worked and i learned what i currently know on that peavy.
also thanks that descendents cover was my first time using a daw so i appreciate you checking it out and commenting on my technique.
also checked out your other stuff too and although i dont know much about folk music id happily say that what you do is pretty awesome and comforting.

Thanks I really appreciate you checking it out. I'll be putting up some electric guitar videos soon too! I feel you I've been done the rabbit hole of guitar effects so many times, it's a lot of fun but eventually I have to tell myself to snap out of it and focus lol. That's cool you found the guitar in an abandoned house hey who can argue with free, I didn't watch the master of puppets video but ill check it out dude.

Those guitar picks? Feel disgusting while playing, personally never liked em. I stick with those that you said NOT to use, theyre great for me and easier. Thicker = easier for me

Thanks for watching! If you’re not a beginner and are used to the Tortex picks then I can understand the nylon feeling off. I’ve seen a lot of beginners get hung up with with thick picks (not saying you’re a beginner, you’re probably not), but I think if they are working for a player then hey go with it!

@@StillHavens-ws8zr I mean yea, but as a beginner i bought a ton of picks and tested em out one by one with arpeggios to see which one is most comfy for me. Nothing sticked out more than those thick tortexes. But hey it really depends on ur playing style, those rly thin ones are usually for classical playing

That’s cool I know classical players go fingerstyle a lot of the time, but I can see the thin picks being nice on a nylon stringed guitar. Like you said, I think it comes down to playing style and preference. I’ve just noticed that beginners that do struggle (with strumming in particular) usually have an easier time with thinner picks, but definitely not always the case. Appreciate you commenting btw thanks for sharing (guitar talk is fun lol)

@StillHavens-ws8zr yea no problem. Strumming for me was never a problem 🤷‍♂️ so i never needed thin ones.
