Rob, I can honestly say that you made our trips to DC so much better because of your tours (luckily twice for us). Not only because of your obvious knowledge of all things DC but your passion for it. Mostly though, you’re just a really nice and friendly person. I only wish for great things for you and whatever you decide for the future. If you come back, we’ll be here. You’ve been here for us weekly for the last years, I think we can wait for you a few months. And even if you decide to close it up, please know you did make a difference for us. We were just reminiscing about you and the two tours we took with you over Thanksgiving dinner. So thank you for the incredible memories, Rob! Jorge and family from Miami.
Rob, I am sorry to hear about the many challenges you are facing. The heat alone is too much. I hibernate all summer. It is very unfortunate that you have had to deal with political issues when giving such a great service to tourist. Your channel has always been so helpful to me and I visit DC frequently. I wish you the best in whatever you decide to do. You will be missed.
As a longtime subscriber since 2017, when the channel was opened, I’m deeply saddened by the move but I also understand deeply. I was hoping for a DC tour towards the end of May with you, and I still want to take that tour. With that being said I look forward to what you have in store in March.
Hope to see you back in the Spring. When we took a trip to DC a few years ago, your videos were very helpful in our planning where to stay and what to do.
Rob! You will be missed. I recently found your channel and have been binge watching. You deserve a lot more viewers/subscribers and are a wealth of info. Good luck in your endeavors and i look forward to seeing you again, “sometime”. I would be interested in the additional video you mentioned
Rob, I just listened to the podcast. While I'm saddened that it has gotten to this point, I fully understand your position and perspective. You have devoted so much of yourself, and it's time to focus on you! Come ride some rollercoasters at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg. If you'd like to explore the history of Hampton Roads, I'd be delighted to return the favor and be your tour guide. Please take care of yourself! You are loved, valued, and supported. THANK YOU for all you have done: for every sacrifice you have made, for every difficult tour, for every late night, for every bead of sweat in the extreme heat, for every spark of inspiration you gave to a young inquisitive mind, for every extra step, for every compassionate response to a difficult tourist, for every ounce of patience and grace you have shown. Thank you for your remarkable energy and enthusiasm, and for your willingness to share your joy of learning with people all around the globe. If you determine this to be the end of TripHacksDC, it will have been enough! A wonderful success. Your mission will have been fulfilled. I hope there is more to come, as I still have yet to experience one of your tours personally, but wherever you find yourself and in whatever you do, I wish you every blessing upon you and those you love. Go live your best life! You deserve it!
Just a sincere thank you to all your wonderful videos on YT and podcast. I travelled to DC in August with a lot of knowledge gained from watching your videos. A family friend of mine came to DC with us from Chicago and he was amazed of the things I know about DC, just shows how infromative your videos have been. Wishing you a nice break and recover, and share more tips and wisdom next year
Thanks Rob for all your very informative and helpful videos. I will listen to your podcast to learn more about your decision to pause DC Trip Hacks. I wish you all the best!
You will be missed! I always enjoy listening to your podcasts and You Tube videos even though I don’t have any plans to come to Washington DC! Someday we will return and will ask for the 2nd timers tour as our first one was so fantastic! Enjoy the break!
Listened to your podcast and wanted to let you know that I've really appreciated your channel and podcast. Since we have family in DC, I'm always looking for things to do when we visit them. Thank you!
Thank you, Rob! As a Washingtonian I've found your guides to my hometown amazingly useful, and as I Washingtonian I totally get where you're coming from. I will be here with notifications on if you ever come back to this platform or the podcast, but I will understand if you don't. You deserve a break!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with you last May and we are planning another trip for 2025. Just listened to your podcast and applaud you for prioritizing your need for a personal "reset". Your videos have been our exclusive source for learning how to navigate D.C. and gave us confidence to ride the Metro system (something we had never done). We hope to see you back - but if you choose it's not right for you, just know you made a difference!
Rob, My family has enjoyed your videos and content since 2017. We truly have used your videos, podcasts, and 4:38 to enhance our visits to DC. Meeting you and taking your tour was a highlight of our trip. We hope you get some much needed rest and hope to see you again in 2025, if it is the right decision for you. Best wishes, whatever you decide to do! The Martin family Baton Rouge, LA
Love your content, Rob. Thanks for everything you do. I totally understand how you feel and you feel better and ready to return and that the country will somehow change for good. Thank you
Hey rob this is Garland! We just took our tour with you over the weekend and it was the best part of our trip! Cant wait to see you back in march. Take a well deserved break lol but you better be back! Hahahaha thanks for all the tips and all the advice it definitely helped on the trip!
Rob, I became a viewer and a subscriber back in 2017 when my daughter relocated to DC to attend GWU. I found your videos to be very informative and helpful not only to me but also for my daughter. Your videos helped us learn how to navigate the METRO, which airport to fly into and where to stay, what to see and important updates. You will be missed in time of transition, however we all will be here when you return in 2025.
Rob I am a big follower of you on UA-cam . So when you announced that you were going on leave I checked out your podcast. I was born in DC but lived most of my life in suburban MD. As a you man I worked on Capital hill for two years in 1968/69. Many times I walked the mall since i retired in 2011. It is more difficult now. I hope you get a chance to take a break and go some place warm. I will be headed to Florida and friends for a week in FEB. I hope you are going to return in the spring. Thanks for all you has done. JIM
Rob, just listened to the full episode of the podcast and sorry to learn you had such a rough summer. I always look forward to seeing your content but completely understand your decision to take a break. No doubt, it is well deserved. I'll keep my fingers crossed that I see you again in the spring of 2025. Cheers!
All the best. Total respect for your ability to lead any type of tour. Fully understand the need to ponder the future and recharge. Take care. Gary Sorensen Oxford, WI
Would definitely love to see more about the People’s House (hope I remembered the name correctly). Hoping the hiatus will be good for you and THDC, Rob!! Enjoy your break! (Paula of Tim and Paula from Madison)
Hi Rob, I share the same sentiments as everyone has expressed above. I came across your channel trying to prepare for my first trip in DC and very sad to see that you will be on hiatus until next year hopefully but I would really love to get your opinion about the peoples house do you think that’s worth, I will literally be there finally, next week. God bless and thank you!

Good luck with the break, Rob! Sounds to me like you are doing the right thing, you are too young to get frustrated with the job or get burnt out.

Cool
I will be visiting in January
The Mall Circulator Bus will be missed. Why can't the USA tourist have nice things in their national capital? Congress?
You'll be missed. Hopefully when you come back in 2025, it will still be this channel you will be using?
Yes it will be this channel.
