    I got Biggie as my #1 overall MC of all time and Jay-Z is a close #2. He may not have been on Big's level when he passed and may not have caught up to Big if he didn't pass, but in terms of rapping Jay-Z did get to Big's level. If you're considering everything else other than rapping, Jay-Z far surpassed Biggie.

    sucks I wasn't around when rappers were smart about the craft...knowing how to put their tracks together. a modern rapper wouldn't be able to keep up a conversation on the craft as much as jay, respect.

      You are wrong. Young rappers do have conversations about their craft. Here is how it goes.
      Rapper 1: Copy
      Rapper 2: Paste
      Friend: Bruh, I just posted on the Gram...

    It's interesting that J says that he liked how real BIG was because J is himself the epitome of real. I respect how J always analyzes his surroundings. That's a sign of a smart man who will never say something dumb.

    Puff was never a great rapper, but he is by far one of the greatest producers, EVER. Shit, Puffy was producing music back in the fucking 80's. He even did LL Cool J's BAD album. Yo, the fucking production on that album is to this day unmatched as far as varying degrees of how far he'd push the bill on tracks. I'm glad he gave Big's old tracks to J to use.

      I never heard Puffy worked on LL Cool J's Bigger And Deffer album. Where did you see that ? The L.A. Posse produced that album and Russel Simmons was the production supervisor...

    • @KalvinEllis
      @KalvinEllis 9 років тому

      I'm not sure he's collaborated with LL Cool J. Other than that I agree, Puffy is a great producer. He takes a lot of shit from hip hop fans, but the fact is he has done lots of good things for the genre. It's not right for anyone to dismiss that just because they might not like him personally.

    not to mention, big was in the process of going into production, he executive produced puff's first and greatest lp no way out, he put lil kim on, he was putting junior mafia on, he offered camron his first deal with lance "un" rivera, big's business partner....and he also experienced his most difficult part, the battle with 2pac and his car accident so don't act like his career was all gravy and there was no difficult part....

    You can totally compare Jay & Biggie. Ready to die came out in 95 and Reasonable Doubt a year later. Both albums have a very close topic, but in my opinion the way that Jay-Z tells stories and the ambiance of the album is better than Biggie's best effort on a LP.

      1) ready to die released in 94.
      2) i gotta disagree. i think ready to die is better than jayz best record. i think biggie is a better rapper too. however when it comes to hits, impact and discography and longevity that goes to hov. but hov wouldn’t have as much of that if not for biggie

      Michael Davis lmao so u want us to ignore "Reasonsble Doubt", "In my life times Vol2", "blueprint" etc? He used songs produced for biggie for 1 album (not even he's top 5 greatest album) now he needed Biggie to be great? You sir aren't From around BK talking like that

      @Stacey Donald i agree bro now that u put it that way jay became "jay z" after biggie only thing i guess u can give em is his will to survive the projects & his perseverance other then that he rode jaz o coat tail & biggie i see good observation & now u see alot of his dirty deeds are coming back at him is what it is i lost alot of respect for Jay myself however even puff knew he had to put that music out for bigs sake & i guess used jay for the instrument most likely puff really didnt want too or need too

      @@gottizway1375 that's a lie. Plenty of rappers would've still been out.. you make it seem like it's only supposed to be a certain amount of relevant rappers gtfoh..hip hop would have evolved whether good or bad.. whether they were alive or not

    from pac talking about his wife (who was pregnant at the time) on a bunch of records, big and faith going through a separation, the car accident that broke his leg in 96, fans turning away from him cos of the feud, death of his friend stretch, and people hinting he was involved with (rip) pac's death..and he still gave us a classic album like life after death?first rap album to go diamond? i respect nas , and jay, my best emcees after big, but the shit that man went through to drop those albums
