I watched allot of these UA-cam lawn guys but to be honest your the realest as you show many great tips that you just don’t get anywhere else and plus you keep it real while other lawn channels are just talking about experiments that have little truth to them. Subscribed from the get go as your the real MVP
I added just about everything this month. I have no idea what im doing but my grass is so green. I did burn a couple spots with too much limestone but overall i came a long way in just a couple months of studying lawn care.
Ok vids into November, love to see it!! Thanks for giving the winterizing tips hopefully the ground hadn’t experienced its first frost because the temp dropped drastically last week but good to see u #tunedin
Yea videos in November lol. We did get our first frost but temps didn't stay cold right now we're hanging around high 50s low 60s so the soil hasn't froze over yet so we're still good to get our fertilizer down. Thanks for tuning in.
I periodically put down the Natural multi nutrient mix, but the performance max is the bee’s knees and has become my primary fertilizer. Sta Green makes some really good stuff
I switched to Milo last year for my mid Summer feeding. Scott's Summerguard was burning the lawn. But, I have been using Scott's Winterguard (no weed killer) for the last 3 years with great results. I usually have the greenest lawn well into November and early December. just like you I put my last bag down around Thanksgiving weekend when I get the leaves up and I also run a fresh cut on the grass a little lower than normal just to give me a crisp look thru the Winter. I use their Starter Fertilizer when I overseed in the Spring. It works great... I get a nice greenup but the bleaching drives me crazy. As for weeds... Knock on wood... I haven't had any Dandelions or Crabgrass for a few years now... some nutsedge and wild violets and a few clovers here and there because of the neighbor's lawn. I spot treat those but I think I'm going to give the Spectracide you talked about a shot next year. Peace to you Bro... Thanks for everything!!!
Milo is a great summer fertilizer option also. I use to put that down in the summer also. I use the spectracide for my pre emergent and post emergent treatments and that does a good job of keeping weeds away. Thank you for watching
@@LawnAmateurI think I need to go back go it. The best aspect of it was the amount of time it held on. Pretty sure next year I am going to stick with that and the Sta Green Natural 16-0-10 for Summer. Your grass is looking good as usual bro.
I picked up the Sta Green 16-0-10 a few months ago this will be for next season I have some Scotts products I'm finishing up this season. After watching some of your videos over the spring/summer I started doing some research on the Sta Green brand. I made the decision to switch over fully to the whole line. So when August came around I did a lawn renovation and picked up the Sta Green grass seed, the sun and shade mix. This stuff is the truth, when looking for grass seed people please take the time to read the labels in full don't skim. The Sta Green sun and shade mix is crazy it contains Gray hawk perennial ryegrass, Tirem Kentucky bluegrass, Enchantment chewings fescue, Silver sun perennial ryegrass, and Reverent creeping red fescue. This grass seed is also 0.00% weed seed. I put this down alongside the blue bag of Scotts starter fert no peat moss and magic. Since my third mow Ive been adding nitrogen getting ready for next spring which I will be. Sta Green products are the truth, this is a brand I can def stand by.
I'm loving their product line as you can see I purchased alot of it 🤣. I'm going forward with the sta green line. I never looked at the grass seed but I will take a look. I use to use scotts fertilizer all the time but switched after seeing what the sta green fertilizers had to offer. Thank you for watching I hope your lawn turn out well.
@@LawnAmateur Ill be going forward with Sta Green products myself. Im preparing to start buying all my needs for next season now once so much of this stuff goes on sale and I can find it Ill bulk up on it. Once the 2024 season rolls around they will have new things rolling out, Ill purchase those as well. Thanks for reviewing a product I can get from my local big box store. Big box stores get a bad rep, just gotta find the good stuff through all the bad stuff. I can finally say Im done with ordering overpriced busted bag stuff from online along with saving so much money.
I feel like my Gardner is killing my grass son😢😢😢😢 is there such thing as cutting too low??? I did the stagreen a few weeks ago before my big three days of rain
I followed your directions and advice down to the T… so I have tall fescue but now it looks like short fescue…. 😢 I’m debating going back to cutting it myself
@dawnbyrd4175 sometimes those guys will cut it too short just to get the job done and damage the grass in the process. Its always better to cut it yourself if you can because you know it'll be done right
I wish I did this.. 😢 is almost February in Texas, and the winter freeze, I think, killed my grass.. is yellow looking except weeds ate still growing.. help what can I use to restore my grass.. I bought my home 16 months ago and still have no ideal how to properly take care of it.. I love how you explain so hooe you can give me some suggestions
Don't worry spring is right around the corner thats the perfect time to start fixing the lawn. Any repairs needed can be done in spring. I'll be repairing a few spots in my lawn also and going over how to do it and what I'll be using. Don't get overwhelmed or feel defeated all you need is a little TLC and your lawn will be nice in no time. Thank you for tuning into my channel
Do you just do 1 times winterize fertilizer or multiple times? My lawn guy told me only need one time. Will multiple times help and how many week apart??
I found the Performance Max and will be trying it in 2024. Much cheaper than other "professional" fertilizers and with the extra nutrients. 1 big bag will cover my yard for the entire year.
Hello, I have one question. Ive been using the Sta products and very pleased thanks to your videos and how well you explain things. I killed my front yard off and seeded, it will be 4 weeks this Monday. I have not cut yet because all the rain we have been getting. Should I start feeding with N once I can get a few cuts in? Sta Green has the 20-0-0 . Whats your thoughts on putting that down? Thanks for all your hard work!
@susansmith7071 i wouldn't use just N yet. I would look to get nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium down if you haven't done it already. You want to make sure the roots are growing strong so balance is key with new grass. I hope this helps thank you for watching
@@LawnAmateur thank you, I did do scotts starter when seeding and that was September 2. So just wait alittle longer or should I go down with a light spreading? Forget to say it's TTTF in this good Old Va. weather! 😅
@@LawnAmateur thank you for your response. I will do a mow with my reel mower for now. The grass is about maybe 1-1/12 inches so far with some areas slow coming in but overall the yard is full and will thicken up soon at least I hope!😅 5 inches of rain and more to come they say. Also I would like to seen you a pic of something growing on the corner of my yard. I have removed it twice and it come right back the next day. See if you and tell what this is! I did do a discovery pic and got no where.
13-13-13 is fine to use for overseeding. There are other fertilizers that are out there that have other amendments in the fertilizers that do different things for your soil structure but a 13-13-13 is completely fine.
I overseeded a few bare spots and put down starter fertilizer back in September. On October 23, I put down some lime (one bag) and the Sta Green 2n1 bag, I believe it was 16-0-3. Do I still need to winterize my lawn the day after Thanksgiving? I noticed one of my bare spots is a late bloomer, so there’s baby grass growing, while the other areas are mature.
You don't have to put down another fertilizer application if you don't want to but you can do a light feeding if you want if the ground isn't frozen. But its not necessary because you dropped a fertilizer application late October
You mentioned that since your fertilizing in late OCTOBER you won’t fertilize again in December. So assuming you did one in October and also one in thanksgiving? If the climate was right
I only did the October application because it got too cold in my area too fast for another application of fertilizer. But typically, in November, I would try to get one last feeding in. But my lawn didn't need it this year when I looked so it wasn't necessary.
when you say the fertilizer will not do any good if you apply it then get a freeze will the fertilizer kick in after winter and the ground warms back up?
No if you apply fertilizer to a frozen lawn the grass plant won't absorb the nutrients and it'll just sit on the surface and by time the lawn warm by up in spring the fertilizer won't be effective anymore
I brunt my yard front and back it’s bad I’ll text you what I put on it later my poor st aug but I should come back next year but I’m still watering it and putting down fertilizer and some root stuff that liquid aerator by Sta green and I put down some 8 0 2 by Sta green

What are your thoughts about the liquid weed and feed that attaches to the garden hose?
@tammyrules2000 they're ok but I rather separate my fertilizer and weed killer applications
I use 10 10 10. once in spring and once in fall. good work boss.
Thank you. The 10-10-10 work just fine
Just throw down the stay green max today lawns looking good
Do you always use Sta Green Max or was this the first time?
I live in the Midwest. Moles are horrible this year. I treated with grubx, bug bgone & the peanuts. Moles are still digging. Not as bad, though.
The moles will definitely destroy your yard

Just feed it with a low nitrogen fertilizer a 10-10-10 will work good for the KBG/Rye around this time of the year
