That's why glitches get found, why dumb joke speedrun categories like BOTW Butter Dog gets made. I love Sonic Adventure 2, but even as someone who likes the game, I can admit that it has aged horribly. The controls are a mess, and I do not enjoy any of the levels other than Sonic and Shadow's stages. If you don't like it, you don't like it. You are not in any way obligated to force yourself to do something you genuinely do not enjoy. I, and many others, will still be here at the end of the day to support you and your content. If you don't like a game, you don't like it. You're allowed to have a differing opinion from the majority. They can deal with it. I watched the stream, and I can appreciate the difficulty you were having. There’s some jank, and some of the later levels are fairly difficult, buti also saw something that reminded me of my own similar experience. I started my gaming on the Genesis/Megadrive with Sonic 1, and got my Dreamcast at launch. I sank hundreds of hours into the Adventure games, and every release through Shadow the Hedgehog. But I stopped after that game, so I missed the transition into the Boost/Modern era. I recently picked up Sonic X Shadow, and WOW am I struggling with it. The speed feels so impossible to control, and I feel like I have no time to react to anything. The homing attack doesn’t work like I’m used to, the spin dash doesn’t work like I’m used to, nothing works like I’m used to. My muscle memory is fighting against the game. It’s definitely not a bad game, but it’s very incompatible with my experience in the Sonic franchise, and I just don’t think I like modern Sonic games. And watching you stream, I think you’re having a similar incompatibility, but going the other direction. Nothing controls or works like you’re used to, and the age of the game just highlights that. If you don’t finish the game, that’s understandable. Either way, I was really impressed with how fast you improved in Crazy Gadget and Final Chase. Jumping straight into two of the hardest levels in the game after a long break, and actually beating them is wild. But play games that make you happy. I’ll be here for the Xenoblade whether you finish SA2 or not.
echoing to say Crazy Gadget and Final Chase are REALLY hard (and jank?), harder than anything in SA1 imo. When I was younger and could pour days and days of time into my favourite games, I still struggled on these stages more than I did on a lot of Sonic stuff. And you went right to them after having a long long break from the game and its mechanics, I really can't blame you for struggling 😭 Obviously it'd be nice if you could finish SA2 for the story and its impact on Sonic history. But despite this image of Sonic being something you speed through, a lot of the games (especially janky ones) feel like they need a surprising amount of patience. Learning the ins and outs of mechanics and what works for each stage before youve got the knowhow to speed through them, if you do continue with it maybe you could practice off-camera, or give yourself less pressure to finish it in a small number of streams cus I do feel like SA2 is one of those games where they make the trial-and-error of a first playthrough do a lot of the heavy-lifting for the game's longevity. Either way thanks for giving it another go as despite the jank it's a game that's important to a lot of fans. 🙏
I think its less an issue of skill but moreso an issue with rushing through the game. I know its tempting playing a Sonic game and wanting to fast as possible, but just taking a bit of a step back and observing the environment, and getting used to each level as you play, especially for a first time playthrough.
As someone who loves SA2 and 100% the game back in the Gamecube days. Trust me when i say this, it was a painful experience and would not recommend anyone to do a completition of it. Just play thru it and master those flaws! Like we say in the gaming atmosphere, "get gud"

SA2 when I first played it back in the day, as a young lad, actually kicked my arse the same way, homie. It's a tough game and it takes practice but it's oh so worth it in the end.
In your defense the camera in sonic adventure 2 is notoriously horrible and actively tries to kill off the player. Go back just focus on enjoying the game and ignore the ridiculous sonic community

Just be your authentic self while playing man while at the same time showing how much you enjoy it but also the things you don’t like while playing it. Have your fun while playing man. Or pause while doing lots of commentary or etc to please the crowd. Do whatever that makes you focus on the gameplay and story while streaming and yet still engage the crowd authenticly when necessary or when you can! I appreciate your honesty. Modern sonic games aren't a good frame of reference. Since the original sonic generation, they've been holding hand very hard, and although a good thing, the gameplay has become better to some extent. SA2 to me was peak 3d sonic gameplay be cause it was more fluid and more free. It did add some difficulty though. Getting S rank on a first run really never happened back then. Not only the gameplay was kinda impooved, there are so many automatic sequences where the game plays itself, they removed to many pitfalls, added fences everywhere so you cant fall of the road an enemies just stand still and don't even attack. When these factors are added, they become very easy. It really hard to even die in modern sonic game. I don't know if its a good or bad thing, I'm just pointing it out. It does make the games more approachable Well, I hope you can find the patience to get through SA2 in a way you can enjoy it. If you think SA2 is hard, you're not ready for 06, i love hard games, but 06 is unplayable and unbearable to me.
What you could possibly do, to get at least the rundown context of the game and the story, is watch the cutscenes video. There's actually a great video that plays all the cutscenes from both stories in chronological, but parallel order, so you see both side's stories at the same time, up until the finale. Because the story is actually quite impactful if you can watch it without some of the annoyances of the gameplay. And then 😏 I expect there will be a ton of people... and probably already are tons of people, who will want to see you react to the SnapCube fan dubs... because that's the most logical next step..... hehe
From what I remember, your Dark Souls playthroughs felt to me like you were more focused on the game than on entertaining (which is completely understandable). And they were the playthroughs that I most looked forward to and joined the streams regularly to watch you play live. There are some people that appreciate you being you more than the entertainment value. For me at least I enjoy your style of entertainment more on UA-cam videos.
id say just sonic adventure 2 the hit boxes are old old so i dont blame you for having trouble with sonic adventure 2 . I had a good experience with it because i played it first . I played sonic adventure 1 after 2 but i was a kid back then. It’s okay to struggle with games. I think if you invite some of your moderator friends to play VS battle i think youd get the full experience. But idk if you’re playing it through steam.

Hey man don't worry about it. Even as someone who loves the first Sonic Adventure and has gotten pretty good at it, SA2 just... Frustrates me. There's something about the movement and physics that doesn't feel quite right- not only for Sonic but especially for the other characters. I've had various situations where the game just ignores my button inputs and doesn't work like I want it to and it frustrated the heck out of me. I love the story of SA2, but I honestly feel the gameplay is a downgrade from the first Sonic Adventure.
OMG dude. Don't worry. It's not a big deal. For me it was funny. I get that it's your first time playing them. kind of frustrating but funny, there are people that are worse than you out there who played it the first time though. Key factor for Knuckles levels, just chill. yeah they may take a long time to find stuff but at least they're easy, it's waaaaay less likely that you're gonna die in a Knuckles level than sonic or tails. For me as a kid, eternal engine and crazy gadget were fricken nightmares, so bad that I never played crazy gadget ever again 😂 like, that level literally gave me PTSD That IS a point to warn you about. Crazy Gadget is friggin insanely hard, Meteor Herd is the biggest Knuckles level, you still gotta do Eternal Engine, then on Dark Story you have one level that's Death Chamber but with an added obstacle, like it's absolutely identical to DC. But get past it all and there's still lots of fun to be had. Wait until you get to the Shadow levels!! I could easily play any of those 40 times in a row and the fun would never run out. 😊

I hope youre able to walk away knowing that a lot of love and effort was put into the game and that you can still call it a good game. Some of the level design is hard, some parts of the game aren't great at telling you what to do, and yes, some of the problems were entirely self-inflicted. If you never come back to SA2, please don't give up on the sonic series. There are still a lot of fun games to play even if this one just didnt hit right

A lot of them like to call out “skill issue” as a brain dead defense for their beloved games, so they can justify someone’s hate by saying that they’re not good enough to understand how great the game is. I love SA2, but it is an old game and it undeniably has flaws that many people will find frustrating. Just try to enjoy the game and ignore the Sonic fans that hate for no reason.

I don't get how can anyone say "skill issue" to you of all people... To the guy who played Kingdom hearts on proud mode... I know that it's a totally different game genre, but either way deebeegeek is NOT a bad video game player. He played this game way better than me and I've played a lot of platformers before... And you can't say that it's "skill issue" if sonic keeps falling through objects and grind rails randomly, if a button doesn't do the thing it's supposed to, or having to look for hidden emeralds for 30 minutes straight... This game is tedious as heck and I admit that it could be a great game if it got rid of all the annoying elements and jank.
No it’s not a skill issue. The game really did not age well and the only version that was much more passable to play is Dreamcast version. And this is coming from someone that has at least pass the main story in both Dreamcast and GameCube version. I did enjoy both playthroughs of mine but when I started to play the steam version recently I noticed that this game has issue… and the controls seem way too sensitive. It takes time getting used to it. Best of luck🙂

I would not say directly skill issue but: not reading issue not paying attention issue trying to rush levels you don't event know yet issue lack of focus issue ... in general, he is not serious about playing it, I know he is an "entertainer" but if you wanna get people more invested in general, pay atention, focus and try again, the game is not hard, is not as "Jank" as people say (I beated it at the start of middle school and completelly mastered some time later, the only level that got me some time to get was Crazy Gadget because of the gravity puzzle and was because I tried to follow my own path instead of paying atention to the flow of the game and where the switches were at, that it was a linear pat), the camera is not trying to kill anyone, it just moves acording to the back position of the character so you can also tell what can happen if you hit it in narrowed areas or when you get near some walls, is not something unique of sonic adventure 2, a lot of games get weird camera angles depending on the position of the character if the player is not taking consideration of the enviroment were he is moving. I have struggled whit games in my life but some times is just that we are not looking or paying attention enough; now as you are for entertaining people here mostly, is better at this point if you just watch the "movie" that gets you to see all the stories in the most correct order possible to just enjoy the plot, there is a chanel called "SORTA STUPID", they did that, but even whit that, the guys did not pay attention even if they were just watching and missed a lot of plot points LOL, they can get easily too distracted, so please just watch the game movie, pay attention and that would make the fans happy because that shows that you are also respecting something they like and care.

The game is not for everyone, it is old and clunky and the camera is bad, but you gotta take it slow, and understand getting killed by bad physics, camera rotation and cheap enemy spawns is all too common. Feel free to check in on the chat between levels, or pause if you want to say something. To some, being loud and funny comes naturally without much thought while they game, to others, they need to make a conscious decision to try and be entertaining, neither is better than the other, it's just that some have to try harder and that impacts how much focus they can put on said game, or whatever it is they are doing.

Sonic/shadow stages are fun. Tail/Eggman stages are boring. Knuckle/Rouge stages are painful. Only 1/3 of the game is fun.

Man plays through black myth wukong and elden ring but can't get through sonic adventure 2.......yea thats a skill issue boi

I like this game but it's jank and I wouldn't have liked it with a load of people criticising me while I play
cause unlike sonic, wukong and elden ring are actual good games designed properly
I don't get how can anyone say "skill issue" to you of all people... To the guy who played Kingdom hearts on proud mode... I know that it's a totally different game genre, but either way deebeegeek is NOT a bad video game player. He played this game way better than me and I've played a lot of platformers before...
And you can't say that it's "skill issue" if sonic keeps falling through objects and grind rails randomly, if a button doesn't do the thing it's supposed to, or having to look for hidden emeralds for 30 minutes straight...
This game is tedious as heck and I admit that it could be a great game if it got rid of all the annoying elements and jank.
No it’s not a skill issue. The game really did not age well and the only version that was much more passable to play is Dreamcast version.
And this is coming from someone that has at least pass the main story in both Dreamcast and GameCube version. I did enjoy both playthroughs of mine but when I started to play the steam version recently I noticed that this game has issue… and the controls seem way too sensitive.

This is actually an opinion that I see a lot of the time. As someone who sees a lot of SA2 takes on their timeline, the fan base can be a bit.... toxic. The game is mad hard! And janky! And annoying! And OLD! Perfectly fine opinion to not like it.

not paying attention issue
trying to rush levels you don't event know yet issue
lack of focus issue
...
in general, he is not serious about playing it, I know he is an "entertainer" but if you wanna get people more invested in general, pay atention, focus and try again, the game is not hard, is not as "Jank" as people say (I beated it at the start of middle school and completelly mastered some time later, the only level that got me some time to get was Crazy Gadget because of the gravity puzzle and was because I tried to follow my own path instead of paying atention to the flow of the game and where the switches were at, that it was a linear pat), the camera is not trying to kill anyone, it just moves acording to the back position of the character so you can also tell what can happen if you hit it in narrowed areas or when you get near some walls, is not something unique of sonic adventure 2, a lot of games get weird camera angles depending on the position of the character if the player is not taking consideration of the enviroment were he is moving.
I have struggled whit games in my life but some times is just that we are not looking or paying attention enough; now as you are for entertaining people here mostly, is better at this point if you just watch the "movie" that gets you to see all the stories in the most correct order possible to just enjoy the plot, there is a chanel called "SORTA STUPID", they did that, but even whit that, the guys did not pay attention even if they were just watching and missed a lot of plot points LOL, they can get easily too distracted,
so please just watch the game movie, pay attention and that would make the fans happy because that shows that you are also respecting something they like and care.

What? There’s a _third_ Sonic movie? Why? I didn’t even know there was a second Sonic movie. Oh, but that’s because I don’t care about Sonic. I thought the idea of even the first movie was a bad idea, regardless of the execution. I offer you my encouragement. I hope you enjoy your experience with Sonic.
The game is not for everyone, it is old and clunky and the camera is bad, but you gotta take it slow, and understand getting killed by bad physics, camera rotation and cheap enemy spawns is all too common.

To some, being loud and funny comes naturally without much thought while they game, to others, they need to make a conscious decision to try and be entertaining, neither is better than the other, it's just that some have to try harder and that impacts how much focus they can put on said game, or whatever it is they are doing.
