This video was packed with so much amazing information - glad it’s here so I can watch it again and again. I’m inspired to learn more breathing excersises now. I actually started doing some breathing excersises on a weekly basis almost a year ago. It’s been wonderful to re-discover the power of the breath - - - like you guys mention in the video it’s a completely free (and often quick) way to completely change your state/move the qi. Glad you mentioned the Medical Case Studies; Respect for these two thousand years+ of medicine❤Thanks again for sharing about this!!! Happy weekend from New York!!

Thank you Seena. It is always wonderful to hear from you. I am very happy that you can get something out of my video. I have a lot of respect to Dr. Rey. He is so wonderful and generous to share his expertise with the world. I enjoyed very much discussing Chinese medicine with him and he said I was asking all the right questions and give him a chance to have a discussion about his practice with some depth. All the best wishes for your renewed passion for breathing exercise!!

This is getting more and more interesting. Hadn't realised that "...being at peace with oneself, ones environment and the people around you..." also constituted part of the definition of health in TCM. I suppose bio-medicine would put that in a separate compartment called "psychiatry". The contrast with bio-medicine couldn't be greater where every organ is seen as being in its own compartment. The contrast with bio-medicine couldn't be greater where great emphasis is placed on symptom alleviation and a "pill" for every symptom or measurement that goes beyond defined parameters. I remember a few years ago when the number of diabetics in the US increased by 40% overnight because the parameter had been lowered. So, people who were not diabetics the day before suddenly became diabetics the next day. Presumably these people will now have to take some more pills.
The concept of eating a balanced diet as defined by TCM can be combined with your plan on doing a series on Chinese food!!! Two doctors and a chef should make the perfect team. You could folow the pattern- 一月里来吃。。。二月里来吃。。。
Regarding avoiding eating foods that are not in season is this related to eating foods from within your immidiate environment? Because nowadays it shouldn't be too difficult to get reasonably fresh foodstuff from areas that have a different climate from yours. This is particularly true of mountain areas whare a few hundred metres up or down could change the climate/season by a month or so which would enable you to eat food items beyond your local climate/season.
Question- What aspects of bio-medicine is used in TCM practice nowadays? I am particularly thinking of the various tools used in bio-medicine like temperature, heartbeat, blood, stool, urine analysis. Basically things that could enhance TCM without having to compromise its principles. What aspects of bio-medicine are being used in TCM to make it more effective or add to its body of knowledge?
Does TCM have something similar to the Hippocratic oath and the ethics of being a TCM doctor. I remember in some stories about TCM doctors not being willing to treat patients because they knew he was going to die and they would not be able to cure him. This seems a bit strange and I could have misread it, or it could have been satire which I didn't get.
As with education and the arts what role did governments/Emperors historically have in promoting TCM and public health? The first book on TCM was initiated by an emperor so I would think all emperors kept a close eye on TCM.

It is quite common in mainland China that biomedical tools are used in diagnosis and treatment as integrated medicine and TCM doctors have no qualms in using biomedical tools and drugs. I think in Australia, biomedical doctors usually do not integrate their practice with TCM. I don't know the specifics of what knowledge and technologies are integrated in TCM in China, I guess the knowledge and technologies changes substantially over time.

Yes, there are TCM physicians in the past developed some sort of ethical principles regarding medical practice. But not as well-defined as the Hippocratic oath. It is pretty much up to individual physicians which ethical principle they would follow! Some physicians adopted Taoist value might refuse to treat a patient when they know there are not much they can do since the Taoist tradition took death as part of the natural cyclical process of life.

This last question is a huge one. I might need to dig around a bit to answer this one without misleading you. I'll get back to you soon.
