Thank-You for the information. Next year, I'll be ready for the grasshoppers. Its funny how much damage a few grasshoppers can do to a small garden. I ended up with 3 different species of grasshoppers.

Don't know about grasshoppers, but nematodes are very effective against ants. Steinerniema and Indica are predators that attack soft bodied insects in the soil.

September. 11 2018, Arizona, I have grasshoppers, not one or two, but hundreds, of the little leaf eating things, they are eating the leaves off my tree ( don’t know what type the of tree it is,kinda looks like a oak type . I tried to find one on the internet didn’t see any that looked like it ! The hoppers don’t seem to like mulberry, or the other trees on the place just my little rescue tree , it was a “weed” we thought . My husband was going to pull it up, but I said let’s wait a few weeks and see what it is then if it’s weed we can pull it then, so we waited and waited that little tree took its own sweet time, I put some Arizona rocks around it some with a streak of turquoise in them . Watered it regular a little time release plant food It grew taller and was tree ! A small tree. Now the grass hoppers are eating it’s leaves off !

This guy does not seem to understand the life cycle of ants. Colonies don't "set up" or move around. You can't bring fire ants in by moving a few workers with some mulch. Colonies start with a mated queen landing on the ground and digging in and laying eggs. At the start, a queen is very vulnerable to other ants. The best thing you can have to prevent fire ants is other kinds of ants. In Florida, broadcasting anything that kills ants generally ends up either in an addiction to ant pesticides or a yard full of fire ants.
