The most common food available 24 hours or past midnight is mamak food like roti prata, mee goreng etc. And almost every HDB estate would have 24-hour coffeeshops with dim sum or noodle stall open past midnight.

It depend which area you stay. Some places do have shop selling food late at night
There used to be many places to eat at night, but the government prohibited the sale of alcohol after 10pm since the riot by drunk foreign workers years ago.
Haha this video remind me 27 years ago when I visit my wife family , I use to stay in 雅兰酒店 at Nathan Road .
After sending my wife back her HK home I will walk around that area till 3-4am and of course buy a copy of apple daily 😊

Normally, you can get a local tour guide to walk around geylang area. Of course, there are other guides who specialise in certain districts. Tourists will definitely learn some history.

Geylang has been cleaned up a lot compared to years ago. I would say to the extend of losing some of its original character. Still a places for foodies though, and nothing more.
Back then the streets were lined up with "working women". Now only the legal brothels are left. It's safer now and more family friendly. Everything is more discreet. Unlike the past when it's more in your face.
