Hmmm, if you have the SG citizenship , then you are no longer a Hong Konger. You may still have relatives / friends on HK, but you should see Singapore as your country and lay down roots in Singapore. Many Singaporeans speak Cantonese too ... though may not be 100% HK style of Cantonese. I am a Singaporean but I grew up speaking Cantonese ( at home) and speak English & Mandarin at school with friends. Hence I do not have language problem when I moved to HK over 20 years ago.

I appreciate your honesty about where you feel your home is, as well as your sense of peace and security when you return to Singapore. Your sense of loyalty and attachment to HK is understandable and should be valued. And now you have new friends and memories and attachments to Singapore. And that has value too. I hope things remain stable (in HK) and you can feel at home in HK and welcome (and safe) in Singapore at the same time for as long as you wish.
BUT (if I may be a little realistic/negative for a while)... the situation in HK (as an independent, "one country two system" arrangement with Beijing) is not going to stay as it is. Beijing will eventually want HK to be integrated/aligned with the Mainland. And that will mean HK will lose a lot of its spirit and identity. It would likely still be somewhat unique in its food, and some aspects of its culture. It may not affect you personally. Or it might. I do not know. It may still be home to you. Or you might find that you gradually do not recognise the HK that you knew. And that would be sad.
But may that day be long in coming, or better yet, never.

It would appear from the video that Jessie considers herself as a Singaporean rather than Hongkonger, as she grew up there since a child!
Singapore is without doubt a place where many people would love to live in; as a Hongkonger, I still find that Hong Kong is comparatively good in terms of almost every issue and stuff at the time.

Me myself a Cantonese too, in Sg the official language is so called 'Malay' but English is the real everywhere common official language. Our daily life is also surrounded with other dialects beside other foreign language as well. So it's really very difficult to be that fluent and expert in just one dialect alone. So as time goes by the ''Singlish'' is created, a Sg local unique of 'all in one' Sg language(local dialects + English + Chinese + Malay + Tamil and ++++). Sad that our gov push Chinese 讲华语运动 as a common language among the Chinese community, it further weaken the already not so pure local dialects. Then some times back somebody started to promote dialects again as what so called knowing our roots program!!!! So it's common today that many young children, new generation can't or speak very little dialect of their parents.

It is happening in China too. A lot of the young people in China have lost the ability to speak their own dialects. Actually, there is no need to blame society. It is up to that person to make the effort if he wants to learn. I speak 4 languages, including German. And I am also proficient in 4 dialects, including my own dialects.

The so-called language - Malay is the national language of Singapore. Hence, we sang the national anthem, military marching commands and uniform groups coats of arms uses Malay.
In SG, it did not have much respect - but it is the language of the region, like it or not :)

Hopefully you are not Singaporean. It is a disgrace that you don't even know Malay is our national language and the four official languages are Malay, English, Chinese and Tamil. English is the official administrative language.
