I can't believe that it's been roughly seven years since I uploaded this song/video from the limited selection CD that I have. Somehow Google screwed up my account at some point, so I created this one. Anyway I went to see them in London on that same tour and they were bloody awesome to hear live. They're one of the few groups that can faithfully replicate their studio songs in concert, and in many instances they sound better live. I'm fairly sure they played this song at the London venue and Perry didn't mess up the lyrics, so I'm surprised that they personally chose this version to be featurred on the 'Selections from Europe' disc. Perhaps this was the best recording/performance despite Perry screwing up the lyrics. One thing I absolutely love in the live versions of this song is Lisa Gerrard's typically haunting voice supporting the instrumental parts of this song, whereas she doesn't feature at all the studio version of 'How Fortunate the Man with None'.
How Fortunate the Man With None (screwed up google account... LOL) Thanks for uploading. I used to have a cassette tape that I listened to, over and over again, as I walked many miles, over and over again, to go swimming at the local pool. And as I swam, I heard this song in my mind..... The best song from a great album by a great group. Wonderful live. Pure genius. I bought Into the Labyrinth many years ago, but don't know much about them. They didn't have internet back then.
i want to say about this live version IT'S THE BEST SONG AND THE BEST MUSIC THAT I'VE HEARD in the last years of my life, i'm crying of emotion, i've searching this song for years, i love you so much DEAD CAN DANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@greenghost2008 Don't take it so literally Greenghost2008. They intend this as a tribute to those "unfortunate" souls who saw the world as it really is and suffered a cruel fate as a consequence.
A friend of mine who used to sound engineer DCD on tour back in the early 90's told me of Perry's huge appreciation for Frank Sinatra-I personally hear THAT more than I do Morrison...but maybe thats just ME! (;
i cannot belive he messed up the lyrics. otherwise it would have been just perfect. i admire Dead can Dance and this song in particular. but to mix up the lyrics that bad... that's inaproriate to say the least. :(
i really liked this band but this song is just... evil.... if you understand the implications. to be more honest this song should be retitled "how fortunate the man who is dead." (read rand)
Always thought the music between the second and the third verse as well as the last part should have been accompanied by this incredible voice . Finally I hear this version , this has become even more perfect . Thx for uploading .
My favorite Dead Can Dance song. So haunting. Hard to believe you cant find a live vid of this.

This guys voice is so amazing. I might get a few protests here but he sounds a little like Sinatra.
Toka Reva it's no mistery that Sinatra was actually one of his favourite singers when he was a kid, so the resemblance is not casual
