Hi Stanley. I am a white collar worker and respect the blue collar industry. What I get most out of your videos is the way your treat your employees and encouraging personality. God bless you too.
Well I have to say I have been an automotive technician for 25 years I'm an ASE certified Master tech and it doesn't matter what you buy they all have fail points built into them and the only reason I'm biased toward Dodge is because I like the way they look and I've have had quite a few over the years and I have had good luck with them and thank you for your blessings, stan
Not a cert. Tech but I did like my dodge as much as my fords tech wise... I sold the dodge couple days go after 45k miles on it... it was a comfortable ride but started showing rust after 2 North east winters and I had to trade it before it got bad ... it was a good truck, no tech problems and only had to swap 2 tires as front end didn't wear well ... got stuck with my chevy on side of road few times but have to say it was a tug of war with that thing all way up to 100k miles ... it turned down hill really fast past 60k n it even sat for couple years before I sold it ...
That 6.4 Hemi is underrated. It is smooth, powerful and just delivers. It’s a tow beast and is reliable. Really you said this truck is BORING. Well for your work, boring is good! Great video!
This is great, I have been doing a little landscaping, friends and family, plowing also and your videos are awsume, you helped a lot when pricing plow jobs and in coming up with my plowing contract, so a big shout out from maine, and go get em
Andrew Camarata calls the body on his dodge tinfoil. It's one of the few times I've seen him legit mad. I loved the part when you said you had a regular cab because you don't like to torture yourself.
The farmers I work for drive 2014-ish ram 1500 and the only parts that seem to dent are the bumpers. But even then there's no damage to the body. Definitely stronger than Ford's
Bought a 98 1/2 ton Ram new and still have it today and it has been one of the best truck that I've ever had. Can't say enough about it. It's towed, hauled construction trailers and materials, done the camping and back trails, etc, and it's not even 4 wheel drive and it just keeps doing the job. Have no complaints about this machine whatsoever!!!
I have a 05 Dodge Dakota. 200,000 miles on it. To this day still runs great. People ask me why don't I get a new one, why it stills works. Agreed about the rust around the wheel well. Love a shout out for my business J&J Landscaping and Irrigation. Thanks for your honesty in the videos Love them. Learn so much from you
Look at this sincere guy and his great channel, man! I love how there's quiet for a few days and suddenly he pulls another piece out of hat. Gotta love the Dirt Monkey! Greetings from Czech republic, Europe.
Love/Hate is a perfect description. I’ve got a 2019 crew 2500 with the Hemi. No loss of power, quiet cab and comfortable. Run a Meyer 9.5 v-blade and a snowex tailgate salter, begin each storm with a full pallet of salt in the bed. The truck is a beast, but the body is horrible! Mine is covered in little dents as well!
You are correct the factory tires are junk. Ours lasted between 12-15,000 as well. When washing the truck go to the front and back of the rear tire, then put the washer nozzle between the inner fender liner and the open space under the bed. This allows the washer to clean out all the mud and salt that causes rust in the wheel well. We have had Ram trucks since 2011 and have never had one rust over the rear tires like you described because we wash them in this fashion. It is surprising to see how much dirt and grime collect in this area. Great review!!!
I'm really happy for you guys, that your having great luck with the pickups. I've heard more times than I can count of current gen hemis eating camshafts or puking the whole engine. One common theme it seems to those cases is LOTS of idle time. IE: squad cars and pickups on construction sites and in mining. Hope they continue to serve you guys in the years ahead, trouble free!
I tell you this, ive had all 3, gas and diesel. Not new of course but these are results ive had , i have only dodge trucks now. 1 2500 gas, and an old w350 12 valve cummins. Only complaint i have is the bodies. But keep in mind, trucks are built for work, when they concentrate on luxury and such you lose somewhere else on it. Ive had 2 duramax, both garbage when worked, my fords pulled great, but maneuvering, and durability in drivetrain was lacking. The dodges done everything i wanted and more. Ive had 1 issue in my 2500. That was an overdrive solenoid
Glad you are having good luck. Four years later two transmissions and rust all over the place my ram 2500 has not been very good Upstate NY . Only good thing I can say about mine is the Cummins engine. Been a nightmare with wiring issues with this truck. My 04 f 350 Dolly does not have anywhere near the rust. Yes it has that 6.0 nightmare engine but at 80 thousand had it bullet proofed 400 thousand miles later it’s still running great and plowing and also put a piece pickup bed dump.kit on it. Don’t know if I’ll get another Dodge after this one . Not been happy with this truck durability after four years
Hey Stanley, my boss has a 2017 Ram 2500 crew cab short bed with the 6.4 and he hauls trailers with our 10k lbs excavator and his factory tires lasted about 40k miles, we loved them!! I have a 2020 Ram 2500 crew cab long bed 6.4 and have 9k miles on my factory tires and no complaints, even plow with it, just throw some weight in the back
Stan, I o so enjoy watching your videos, we are getting pounded here in NJ, its crazy cold and snowy, and no matter how much salt I throw down its still piling up, you have so much fun with all the toys and I get a tinny snowblower that clogs up just trying to clear my driveway lol, have fun, and say safe
I am a Ford guy for life. But, I had an opportunity for a really good deal on a Ram back on 2015. Got the Ram extended cab. I love it. The transmission is an Allison 8 speed. No hesitation on downshifting. Doesn't miss a beat. The firestone tires lasted 25000 miles, which was pushing it. I got the Falken Wildpeak A/T's and they are terrific. Got 45000 miles on them and they still have another year to go (about). Just turned 70000 miles.
That was a pretty spot on review Stan. My buddy has a 2019 2500 and he beats the snot out of it (general contractor/ surveyor) and that thing keeps comming back for more. Great video catch you on the next one.

16:45 The Ram might go through the snow better because of its stiffer chassis and coil spring rear suspension with trailing arms (as opposed to bare leaf springs without trailing arms). Preventing wheel hop helps so much in the snow.
Reminds me of a few nights driving a plow (10 yard dump truck) and the float wasn't sticking for the front plow. Short little bungee cord made it work. Luckily it got fixed quick but in a pinch...

We would love to work with you and share our 25+ years expertise in our industry.
I've had my RAM for 5 years, and the only complaint is the rust that you mentioned over the rear wheel wells... I was a Chevy Truck Guy, but after my RAM, it's hard to go back..
Even in texas the rusty suspension bugs me. All surface not coastal or salt water. Just annoying to see. However, my diesel ram pulls my tractor, shredder and trailer, scaling 22,000 alone, with a 1500lbs if fuel and tools in the bed perfectly. Even overpowered the parking brake i left on by accident. Only traveled 20ft though. I loved my "cateye" as its done stuff its not supposed to but this diesel is a monster..
Chrysler products have been weak in the body department for years. That's why I shy away from them. The last new Chrysler car I bought around 1980 couldn't even keep the paint on. Ive never heard they improved since then either. I hope they didn't fk up the Jeep line when they took it over.
Stan I just pulled a 8,100lbs boat back from Boston to Minnesota in a 2020 ram 2500 diesel I was so impressed fuel mileage was on the way there was 23mpg and back was significantly lower 10mpg but up hills around bends it never seemed like it was working to hard. 2k rpms like that whole trip it was wild. I will own a ram someday. Great video! -Dan
The old 12v Cummins can get 20-21 with no def system and zero electronics. Towing a load that size I would expect to get around 13-14 in mine and it gets around 17 empty with the 3 speed auto so I'm not even tuned optimally. I wouldn't touch a newer diesel with the emissions garbage. Early 2007 and before is pre emissions on the Cummins trucks.
Can’t agree more Stan! I ran a 8’ straight blade on my ‘15 Ford F-250 for 5yrs..I switched over this season to a ‘17 ram 2500 6.4 with the same plow and it’s just keeps moving forward. The Ford just seemed to light in the rear end. For that reason I lean towards the ram. As long as the body is on the frame I could care less of the body shape
Hey, Polski, you know talking about the RAMS 'pick me up trucks', gotta mention, ANDREW CAMARATA has/had two of them. They too have a "couple" dents and he seems to work them hard. You talk about the interior, well on his older one, he needed a radio change. Simple for him to do and since the space needed to be larger, he took his CHAINSAW to the dash and enlarged the opening. Seriously, many of you guys have RAMS and I found that interesting and your testament probably sold a few more. New FORDS are aluminum so talk about dents, much tougher $$$ to repair on aluminum bodies. They should be changing BRAKELINE metal to STAINLESS. The choice is yours and we love what you do anywho so have at it! Thanks for another one! Sonny (CT)
Greetings from Cow Hampshire: 2004 F250 blew a head gasket at 150K. 2019 RAM 2500 6.4L with 15K, tires are about tread life, purchased Fisher 7’ 6” straight blade HD2 this past January - no complaints at all with this truck & plow.
Glad you like the vids Robert. People call me all kinds of monkeys- snow monkey, forestry chimp hahah- just depends on what Im doing.Have an awesome rest of your week bro!
Those were the spark plug cannons in the 5.4. I worked at a Ford dealer back then. Shop was full of trucks getting new heads before the reengineer. The techs got reeeeeal good at pulling the cabs off of the trucks do they could get at the engines.
I have plowed snow for 42 years, had Dodge, Chevy, and a Ford, will never have a Chevy or Ford again, I plow now with a 96 Dodge 2500 Cummins since 1999, best plow truck I have ever owned and won't get another, just redo this one. I watch you guys plow snow and you guys do way to much double plowing over where you already plowed, but you haven't plowed as long as i have. My Dodge has 400,000 miles on it and i use it to plow and pull a 30 goose neck, i will always keep Dodge tu s for all my work.
My 16 Ram 2500 Crewcab really does do everything I’ve ever been stupid enough to do to save a trip. Last week I had 3200lb of concrete on top of my 600lb toolbox, while towing a dump trailer with 4 yards of 3/4 gravel in the front and a pallet of cinder blocks in the back. Still stopped no problem and had no real problem getting up to highway speed
@@xcalibertrekker6693 Well, a 3/4 ton truck does a better job at pulling a 17.5 tonne tanker truck than a 1/2 ton, so yes, both trucks needed new transmissions so I finished them off with a torture test
@@erikrobles5727 the 8 speeds they use now are the best transmission on the market at the moment they we're originally used in high end luxury cars like the G wagon and several audi cars so they were well proven. A big step up from the 47re and the 65rfe in the 90s and 2000s Rams will always have that stain though.
You must not know much about Ram transmissions. They have tossed in some of the worst Transmissions in history into their recent products. Ever since the name change... to RAM... they have shipped out a lot of trucks the ended up having major trans problems. I’m not even gonna mention the “pre Ram” days. 💥 😂
@@HbEthan. the one you’re referring to has a fair few recorded issues there bud. Might want to do a little research on them. 😂 and no..l I’m not brand loyal to anything. Every manufacturer is capable of producing absolute garbage. Especially in the vehicle world. But RAM seems to be EXTREMELY efficient at producing sub par products... even when they source their parts from other manufacturers... still junk! 😂
I've had an 02 1500 that I plowed with 5.9 gasser. It was a tank 220k miles and sold it yesterday for parts for 1k. 03 2500 I sold with 206k on it. That one the bottom bearings started to go I believe. Now I'm on an 04 1500 Laramie with 115k on it hemi I'm putting a plow on it for next year, so far I love this one it crawls through anything especially deep snow .02/08 drop valve seats and 08/ get the hemi tick where the lefters eat the cam shaft. They don't get enough oil flow at idle. The fix is to put in a hell cat oil pump and lifters.great video bro
Our company has been using all fords. They have lasted really well, both the gas and the diesels have treated us well. We currently have 63 trucks on the road.
I love to drive in the snow And I've driven all different makes and models of vehicles in the snow tractors And as far as vehicles with wheels Seems like Dodges do the best out of anything
I agree with you Stan on how long it takes to truly get an opinion on a truck. When I got my 2019 Ram 1500 I hated it after the first 3 months. Now that I’ve had it for two years I absolutely love the truck!
The new Rams are even better. Same engine and trans combo, updated body. There is a reason why they are winning JD power truck of the year awards. Great trucks!
Give that 6.4 some time and you’ll need a “valve adjustment” because that engine is flawed. They have have problems oiling the cam and lifters. The lobes start to flatten and they sound like a diesel. Dodge has a solution and that is tightening the valve springs, which only compounds the issue. 2018 power wagon with 68,000 miles and I need a new engine. I’m buying a Ford with the off-road package, it comes with a rear locker.
Those issues are not common. That’s 1% of hemi engines that have lifter and cam issues. Most of those are due to excessive idle time and improper oil or service intervals.
@@mjberta7319 not a good look if idling your engine ruins it though. That's why I like GM trucks. They've had their engines down pat for decades. I don't like everything about GM but they have the basics down and that's what counts in the long run.

Bought a Ram in 1996 brand new 360 /5.9 gas beast ! What a workhorse ! Got 190,000 out of first transmission 250,000 on the rear end had to retire her at 350,000 do to body rot ! Ok I fibbed 348,000 and change ... It broke my heart because the dang thing ran awesome ! Dent wise she had a few but thats because of some offroad recovery tree limbs ect .... Only reason I haven't pulled the trigger and bought another one was the tiny weaker body I was very disappointed looking at them ! I was looking at ford but I have friends who complain left and right GM seem all pretty but not sure about reliability seen some pretty horrible reviews unless its a over priced D-Max with a Allison transmission ... Might gamble on. GM but then again I ask myself can i live with a few dents here and there ....great review Stan thanks alot for making miss old Betsy ...

Man I want that trailer, mines solid wood car carrier that I slapped steel and wooden 4ft wallz on, I was attempting to slap on a couple hydraulic pumps on to lift mine but it was just too damn heavy to lift, so I have to assist it especially with a load of shingles or dirt or wood, but house hold waste it would lift all on its own. Lolz
I've seen people put a pallet in the front of the trailer put a chain to the pallet under the load and have a bulldozer hook on to pull it out or a post
I live in PA and just came in from plowing with my ATV( my drive, elderly neighbors, in-laws,etc..) I purchased a 2020 RAM Bighorn that I love and hoped to put a plow on it to be warm while plowing but the 1500’s have a splayed frame for cabin safety (changed for 2021, not safety but so you can use a plow) I wish I would’ve know that and maybe just stepped up to a 2500. Anyway, love the channel and content. Keep up the great work
Dodge gave me a horrible time in the past, "BRAND NEW" 8k miles and transmissions blew. 1 month later after replaced 2nd "NEW" transmission completely broke from the vehicle. 8 months after the 2nd new transmission, 11k miles engine blew. It was a standard get around town vehicle, and after the engine blew went to Ford and NEVER LOOKED BACK!

Is it hard to go back because your transmission is broken?
Stan great video I have an 07 Ram 2500 cummins and had alot of good luck with her. I am not easy on her either.
Ram Tough 🐏 💪🏼 6.7 that's what I drive !
👍
Stan I just pulled a 8,100lbs boat back from Boston to Minnesota in a 2020 ram 2500 diesel I was so impressed fuel mileage was on the way there was 23mpg and back was significantly lower 10mpg but up hills around bends it never seemed like it was working to hard. 2k rpms like that whole trip it was wild. I will own a ram someday. Great video!
-Dan
Thats a good sized load- and 10 mpg sounds about right. Also sounds right that you didn't notice it working hard. Thats a nice feeling .
Sonny (CT)
Price is going up with no cap they need to put a cap because fifty now was thirty plus. Even new stuff will sit. Looks great
good point.👊
The father of our industry!! loved the sign off Stan! My crew would love a shout out at Crimson Landscapes!
Hey Stan! Glad you posted a video about the ram trucks, good to know they held up with all the abuse. MOPAR OR NOCAR!
Greetings from Cow Hampshire:
2004 F250 blew a head gasket at 150K.
2019 RAM 2500 6.4L with 15K, tires are about tread life, purchased Fisher 7’ 6” straight blade HD2 this past January - no complaints at all with this truck & plow.
It goes through better from what I've been told because the box actually has some weight to it vs the aluminum ford boxes
Awesome video! I had a ram for a while and liked it never had a problem! Keep the videos coming!
👍👍👍
blessed we all are to have these kind and considerate videos. ur the man Stan. btw wheres the whole monkey tie into this?
Glad you like the vids Robert. People call me all kinds of monkeys- snow monkey, forestry chimp hahah- just depends on what Im doing.Have an awesome rest of your week bro!
Interesting, thanks for making this video.👍
Of course, thanks for watching!
really regreting selling my 2001 F250 crew cab 5 speed man fx4. it has that gutless 5.4 trition but it was solid
I would love to see a Chevy in you’re fleet to compare performance
Ifs in the chevys don’t hold a plow as well as a solid front axel
@@ThePeavey23 that’s true but they got those Allison transmissions perfect for plowing
The allison is only available in the diesel and the 10k more price tag is a hard pill to swallow
I run a 2004 2500hd with a 8ft fisher and a oversized cutting edge i raised the torsion bars to handle the weight awesome truck never let's me down
Except for the fact that you have to adjust the torsion bars every fall and spring.
Important detail: This is a 2500 series truck. This will definitely hold up better then a 1500 of the same brand.
agreed and thanks for pointing that out.
You mean a 3/4 ton truck will do better then a 1/2 ton truck. Really. ;-)
@@xcalibertrekker6693 Well, a 3/4 ton truck does a better job at pulling a 17.5 tonne tanker truck than a 1/2 ton, so yes, both trucks needed new transmissions so I finished them off with a torture test
I couldn’t tell or maybe didn’t catch it but is this truck a gas or diesel?
@@chillywilly7454 it's a gasser
Good vid. I will never go ram again but glad yours is working well for you
Thanks! & why’s that?
"I don't like that it dents when it gets hit, and factory tires suck." LOL Shocking.
I am surprised how well the dodges held up.
Thanks Stan really like your videos
Appreciate it Rob 😊👍
Call back in 12 years. 90's chevys are hands down toughest ever made. And I own 3 Dodges. Lol.
Rams are good trucks , I’m surprised how well the transmission held up too.
Yeah- we've had zero issues with anything so far.
I’d be surprised that the transmission held up as well after all it is a dodge
Sweet Video Stanley! Thanks Bud!
I love to drive in the snow And I've driven all different makes and models of vehicles in the snow tractors And as far as vehicles with wheels Seems like Dodges do the best out of anything
Right on
Thank you for the shout out
I would love to hear Frankie’s opinion on the holzfforma, I’m sure he cuts more wood than probably the rest of your company combined
yes he does and that video will be out next week.
I ordered one back in Dec. Still waiting for that slow boat from China!
Watching while making breakfast again! Bacon, eggs and pancakes today.
Sounds amazing
Texas pride knows how to make some good trailers.
They sure do!
Is that was the red dump trailer was. Looks nice, but would hate to see the price tag as just a homeowner.
I agree with you Stan on how long it takes to truly get an opinion on a truck. When I got my 2019 Ram 1500 I hated it after the first 3 months. Now that I’ve had it for two years I absolutely love the truck!
Would you ever try the big 6.6 gas that chevy has out. Love the content keep up the good work Stanley.
No. Weak independent front end suspension.
The new Rams are even better. Same engine and trans combo, updated body. There is a reason why they are winning JD power truck of the year awards. Great trucks!
Let me guess “initial quality” 2004-2008 F150’s won that award too.😉
I need to look into those bodies and see what they changed.
@@Dirtmonkey the whole interior has been updated too. The only down side, they are going to the rotary dial shifter instead of the column shifter.
The gm hd independent front suspension is the most amazing thing to plow with
Not at all
Great video!! There is a video on u tube called bed truck twist. The bed of a Ford twist really bad. I have a Ram 3500 gas best truck ever
The Ford doesn't use a fully boxed frame which allows for major frame twist. FORD TOUGH 🤣
Keep the videos coming 👌
Give that 6.4 some time and you’ll need a “valve adjustment” because that engine is flawed. They have have problems oiling the cam and lifters. The lobes start to flatten and they sound like a diesel. Dodge has a solution and that is tightening the valve springs, which only compounds the issue. 2018 power wagon with 68,000 miles and I need a new engine. I’m buying a Ford with the off-road package, it comes with a rear locker.
Buy a tremor with the 7.3
Those issues are not common. That’s 1% of hemi engines that have lifter and cam issues. Most of those are due to excessive idle time and improper oil or service intervals.
That's from low rpm traveling and long idling... I have. 2017 power wagon has over 180k no issues whatsoever
For sure it's the reason I like ram trucks with the 5.7 but run Ford for the heavy-duty trucks
@@mjberta7319 not a good look if idling your engine ruins it though. That's why I like GM trucks. They've had their engines down pat for decades. I don't like everything about GM but they have the basics down and that's what counts in the long run.
It’s great watching your videos! I watch them a lot and always enjoy the content you put! You always have stuff to show and explain to teach us through your experiences!! And now giving shout outs! You’re awesome keep it up!
Thanks Kendall!! Appreciate ya 👍
Hope you didn’t jinx yourself by making this haha.
Next video: the dodge fell apart like the Blues Brothers car.
hahaha- wouldn't you know it. Don't say that.

Take the bed off and convert it to a open box and you’ll never fuss about rust or dents again.
Thanks for the awesome content and sharing your options on the ram trucks. Keep up the brilliant work and can’t wait to see what’s in store next take care and Hope you and family and everyone has a great work 👍
More to come Hayden and have an awesome rest of your week bro!
@@Dirtmonkey Cant wait Stan and thank you bud and you too 👍
Most fords are open differentials and rams have a LSD so yeah that helps going through the snow
Thank you- I forgot what it was but thats it.
@@Dirtmonkey keep the dif fliud clean front transer and rear and you will be good i do mine every year
I was thinking it was the tires. I know that can play a big factor with the snow. I would be curious to see what tires are on the Fords and the Rams
If you pull the 4x4 knob to the out position on the ford it is if it is equipped which most are.
@@Dirtmonkey my 2500hd gmc has a locker in the rear with counter weight do a bunch of driveways in 2wd
Another great video
Thanks Erik 😀
Headed out now to go play in the snow 18” storm if not more
Thats insane- stay safe!
Awesome video.
Thanks Brody!!
Nahh...ya just gotta twist the chains to shorten em up 😂🤣.
Oh yeah- I do that to.👊
thanks for doing. so my setup is 2016 2500hd silverado double cab. 29hd snoway and snoway spreader. At this point I would probably get this again. currently approx 30k. I love to see and get honest feedback on other brands - plows etc. God bless you and family and appreciate all you do.
So what your saying is to buy a used truck from Tim and avoid yours like the plague? Lol
yes and yes😂
Fascinating critique of these machines.
Appreciate it 😊
QQ: what is your opinion on GMC/Chevy trucks or have you never tested them?
Home owners trucks!
I absolutely love my GMC Duramax rides so nice pulls like fright train been the best truck ever... But chassis wise the Ford and dodge H-D hold more weight they are all the same I prefer the GMC 2500 they ride so nice for a H-D
Lovin' the video's Stanley! Your videos - and your positive/work hard attitude encourage us. Thank you! We do snow removal up here in Canada and landscape construction! Cheers
Lolz
yeah but there is something cool about doing it yourself like that.
I've seen people put a pallet in the front of the trailer put a chain to the pallet under the load and have a bulldozer hook on to pull it out or a post
im sorry i didnt comment last night, but great informational video!
Appreciate you!
I have owned Ford F-350 “s my whole life. The regular cab space has shrunk. Horrible there is no room for anything anymore.
Yep- I have a regular cab ford and the interior is crowded compared to a Ram.
BS

I think that was a very straight forward and well thought out review of you Ram pickups. I was curious about how well they were holding up and what you thought. Very good review.
Glad ya liked it 😀👍
He says 3 years like that’s a long time😂
It is when you are working your trucks.
I love my ford truck
15k miles.
3 years
lol
Well it’s a long time for a dodge
3 work truck years is atleast 10 normal years kinda like an ole farm truck if it's towing capacity is 10000 pounds it's probably pulled 60000.
I have a 2014 ram 2500 6.4 gas and tow a skid steer everyday. Have 110k miles with no issues yet. I love it so far.
Don’t care what truck I’m driving “I HATE SNOW “ I’m 60 this year and have done enough this is my last year.
