    I have been trying to play this piece for 30 years... To help my endeavour, I have listened to many CD versions (usual culprits), ever striving to make musical sense of the Adagio. I hope I am not exaggerating, but I believe I have finally found a version which makes the notes on the page come alive, as music. This such a nice interpretation... it is musical, not mechanical... it conveys emotion rather than just notes. It is well structured, the voices are clear, the phrasing is beautiful, the tripartite nature of the work, the "recap" in the "wrong key"... it is all there, intellectually and musically! She somehow just lets the music sing... Danke schoen Sumina!

    • @flameimagery9062
      @flameimagery9062 3 роки тому

      I agree! She seems to draw the emotion out of the music in her interpretation as compared to, as you say, "mechanical" rote playing. She is unique and can really appreciate her efforts in getting to this level.

      What does not make sense to you ? The notes? The rhythm? I don't understand. Its such a straight forward piece

      - there are 4 voices which work together in the Adagio
      - the 4 voices seemingly operate randomly (as opposed to the Fugues/Chaconne of Bach)
      - ‘understanding’ Bach is to comprehend the full structure of the piece: both in terms of details and the big picture.
      An example of understanding the structure of the Adagio: there are only 2 rests in the Adagio, and both rests precede the musical idea (0:19 2:17)

    Bach's music has to tell us something. You give his message a voice and each note it's meaning. Without selfish moments. It is just the magnificant music one can hear. Wonderful.

    So great to see somebody who understands that "Adagio" does not mean "Grave", and that this piece has a rhythm! So many players hide behind constant rubato and pretentious slowness. Your playing brings out the pendulum-like heartbeat of this piece. Fantastic! Thank you.

      You should hear her playing the Paganini Caprice #5- WITH Paganini's own original crazy bowings. There are not many violinists who can do that. It's on UA-cam. It's absolutely unreal. I am sure we are going to be hearing from this girl much more in the future.
