    Robin, I'd like you to try something, just to see if it works... In all honestly, Original is my all time favorite pre-styler, so the fact that you feel it didn't work for you in this aspect is intriguing. Instead of using a lot for pre-styling, try using actually a very small amount - (a number of people have found it to be beneficial to use more for pre-styling, but personally I find the opposite.) I'd be curious to know if it works better as a pre if you used only a little. I experience a lot of volume and lightweight fluffyness using it this way. If it's not your thing it's not your thing, but interested to know if this would make a difference!

      I've tried the product in loads of different ways, but it really doesn't work for me and isn't what I'd (personally) be looking for in a product.
      Congratulations on the success of it! My review is just my personal opinion. So many other guys and girls seem to love it. That's so fantastic!
      Looking forward to trying your next products.

      its also very harsh. i have much thicker hair like blumaan, and probably the hair type its aimed at, and it works much less greasy and stringy than shown in this video

    • @ewinter9021
      @ewinter9021 8 років тому +9

      it may be harsh but if its the truth than that is fine. It is a review after all. You dont want someone to sugar coat a review for something you might actually purchase. There are several other reviews by people that seem to be sponsored because its overly biased with no real review / comparisons.
      This man is giving his full 100% opinion with great comparisons. As oppose to other people simply saying bluman is great and thats it. Never censor reviews / sugar coat them. Props to @Robin James

    • @alistairbarrow5642

      Its also wrong... its harsh, that's fine. but the product is actually good

    • @ewinter9021

      Alistair Barrow
      He never said the product wasn't good. He said for his particular hair it was not good. But he made sure to say that others should still try it.
      I dont know what kind of review you expected but not everyone will agree that the product is good. There are different hair types, textures, lengths, and etc. Dont expect every review to be positive just because it was for you. No offense.

      +Josh Thornburg I have no problem getting Original evenly applied even tho I don't warm it up. I just lightly spread it so that it is evenly in the palms and the apply. Simple as that. Not all products need to be warmed up like Claymation for example.

    I'd honestly have to agree with Robin on most aspects of this review. I've had the product for rough two, almost three months and have experienced little volume and an average hold. I've tried as pre-style, post, and or both. Even "cocktail" some of my favorite products with such. That's has given me some success. I'm sure it's a good product for some, but it's not for everyone; like every product is. Note: My hair's a faded undercut with some length on top. Think of Anthony Deluca length on top, possibly inch and half less. Touches my lips.

    Smear in hands, apply evenly in damp hair, blowdry, done. Works perfect.

    Due my own personal use and from what I've researched, this product seems best for people like me with thick hair. I've also used it for a while so I've gotten down to a t how much to use and for what purpose. Overall the product is very versatile for me, again a person with thick hair, but people with fine thin hair seem to enjoy it less.

      Bob Lo it's because he used the product all wrong and gave the product an over all bad review no shit if you use something wrong there's a high chance it won't work right. who in the fuck just puts product in their hand and just slaps it into their hair no shit you need to distribute it even with their hands. it's not the fact that it didn't work for his hair it's the fact that he didn't really give the product a fair review and is now miss leading thousands of people with a false narrative.

      Instead of fanboying, listen to what he said. He was told to NOT warm it up. Aka not distribute it across his hands. Earlier in the video you see where he distributed it properly. There isn't some sacred powder boy ritual, you can do it either way and a comb will distribute it regardless. It's hardly a false narrative if you follow the directions. He clearly isn't biased against them because he has given their other stuff good reviews.

  • @tamasmenyhart8483
    @tamasmenyhart8483 7 років тому +3

    I agree.. I tried it... And it was difficult to apply to even damp hair, made my hair heavy. And once I blow-dried my hair, it felt greasy and then the hold wasn't that good... I just bought claymation from hanz de fuko, something I've used in the past, and it's a thousand times better lol
    To be honest, I threw out more than half the jar of this Blumaan product since I didn't use it after a few tries.
    Even though my hair is thin but I have lots of it, I find that a tiny amount of the claymation applied to damp hair gives great volume and hold when blow-dried and then i add a tiny bit to finish the style.
    Hanz de fuko claymation is, in my opinion, one of the best out there, it's very versatile and works everytime.

    Really appreciate the honesty! I can only this 1-2 times a week on the days I wash my hair (very thick, straight hair). I do this so that I don't have the "floppy" hair that conditioner gives me - essentially this is a product good for creating "second day" hair right away. Other then that I find it is very hard to wash out, and as you said, makes my hair texture strand-like. Overall, disappointing as I was looking forward to the launch for months! Thank you again, Robin. Your quality/honest reviews is why we keep watching!

    I have a very similar hair type to you Robin, fine hair but lots of it. Personally, I've found this product can work but if done correctly. I think applying it in a smaller amount to prestyle as BluMaan just suggested in the comments earlier is a good idea but instead of using it as a post stying product I would go with something like Hanz De Fuko's Claymation or something that will give your hair some good volume.

    Application was completely wrong haha. Yes you should not warm it up, but you have to spread it all over your hands in like 2-3 times. Not put it on one place in your hand. I also kind of disagree about the part where you say that you think a hair product has to be warmed up, but that's more of my view on it. Also: Meraki isn't a type of hair product (wax, clay, putty etc), it's literally the name of the product..

    • @scootcha
      @scootcha 8 років тому +2

      What should you do instead of warming it up? Even distribution seems pretty crucial with any hair product.

    • @Axuled
      @Axuled 8 років тому +1

      Well, like I said: spread it over your hands. That's literally it. You don't need to warm a product up to distribute it over your hands, right? Simply spreading over your hands by pressing them together and moving 2/3 times is enough. I'm pretty sure the guys over at BluMaan have told him that, like they did to everybody.

    Appreciate the honesty in this review! Ive used this product a number of different ways in a bunch of styles and I've never really gotten on with it. The hold isn't the most consistent yet it doesnt feel super pliable either.
    Ive found it works better just only as sparingly prestyler and then using a lighter product after blow drying. It tends to be pretty heavy in the hair so a volumising mousse or powder tends to help a bunch! I would use this product alone if I didn't have any other options, but it probably wouldnt be my first choice, despite how much I've experimented with a bunch of styles, application and amounts.

    hey Robin, Meraki is a word with personal meaning which is something that you put a lot of yourself into. and i do warm it up in my hands, i rub it only about 3 or 4 times in a circular motion and it spread more evenly through the hair and it is easier to dry in a hairstyle you like. personal tip from someone that didn't even know what the blumaan thing was, a friend gave me an extra he bought and after trying it i bought my own it did wonders with my hair and i have hair just slightly thicker than yours but still pretty straight ish

    1. Have damper hair, yours was too dry for Original to spread evenly, Its sucks up some of the moisture from the hair when spread to hair.
    2. Spread it in hand, don't warm it up.
    3.Rub it all through your hair, it has to get to the roots.
    4.No blowdryer after your hair has dried.
    5.Use your hand as a fingercomb instead of an actual comb.
    Great review but this products learning curve is looooong and tedious. I've had it for 2 to 3 months now and I use it as a prestyler. Do as suggested and results should be better.

    Very clearly honest, I thought there was a little too much hype for the product if I may say so myself. However, Blumaan (Joe) has got thick hair and I do believe they made the product for his hair type, so there are going to be people with thin hair disappointed about their purchase. That said, great video Robin, can't wait 'til next Sunday's video!🙃

      Original actually works best from thin to med thick hair. It was not made for Joe's hair type. I personally have thin and fine hair and Original works better for me than any other product.

    Sorry you didn't like it. Works great for me and tons of other people though. The application was probably well meant, but definitley not right. It needs to actually be emulsified in your hands before applying. Also, looks to me like you used a TON which is generally going to happen with most products when you overload your hair. Thanks for the kind words where you said them though.

      As with any review, it's all subjective and opinion based. It just didn't work well for me. No biggie.
      I have been trying this product for 2 months, so have definitely tried it in lots of different ways. It's not going to work for everybody but I know loads of guys (especially on UA-cam) love it, so you must be pleased.

    This review was solid. Everyone bust nuts over products, especially by UA-camrs/Bigger Social Media profiles. Its funny because a lot of people base their own personal review on what they buy with the releationship of whoever pushes the product out. Whether fan or friend. I like Joes channel and Joes as a personality. Never touched Blumaan, might want to give it a try BUT I really appreciate your review. Thank you for the honest review. I feel like so many people that highly rate this product may be biased because they come from BluMaan himself. The product like you said is decent because of the hold but applying it is tough and the flakes you see when on your hands show up in your hair during the day (reminiscing to the days when we used gel, yuck!). I totally agree with your review Robin. I have been subscribed to you for so long and I love the structure of your videos and the way your taking your channel.
    I had ordered two of them as a preorder so I had quite some time to experiment with it and I have thick straight hair and I felt as if the hold resembled a gel. The hold is good if you don't comb your fingers through your hair because as soon as you do that you break the hold (like a gel) and your hair flops around.It rips out hair too so I wasn't too fond of that. just the entire product seems off to me because if you don't apply exactly the right way the product won't work. if you happen to have similar hair take the advice and invest in a more suitable product and don't buy into the hype. Talking from experience.

    I felt exactly like you during the first week of use but quickly learned to use Original as prestyler or post. Joe and Ben have made tutorials on product application which didn't work my type of hair. I do rub the product in my hand slightly to warm it up. I also apply it on my finger tip more than my palm. Once Original is in its fiber-state, it goes in like butter.

    Finally someone who does not go with the hype.
    I also think it is not a good product, there are so much better ones out there.
    It dries down super quickly in your hands, thus making it hard to apply to the hair.
    Also incredibly hard to wash off the hands.
    I think they just added too much functions to this product, they should have specialized with the product either being a pre-styler or a post-styler and making that really good, they have tried both and it is just about or slightly below average in both categories for me.

    I actually have very fine hair myself(Asian genes!) and it's loose and flat which makes styling pretty difficult. I've gone through probably ~12 products now and Blumaan has been the closest to what I want. I just make a big purchase of 3 jars after finishing my first. I use a little for prestyle and a fingertip for style and light hairspray and it's insane what's it's done for me.(I had the stringy result when I used too much).

    Hey robin, really enjoy this product review. I can relate to all the difficulties you faced with the product. And the points that you pointed out is so true. 👍🏻
    A tip: maybe try mixing the product with a bit of water to avoid the fiber tackyness. It somewhat makes the prestyling a little less difficult.
