@@patchsguitarsessions3889 Thank you for letting me know. Listening to the piano sessions by Erik Satie. Good soothing music on a quiet Saturday afternoon.
very nice, the patina of the brewer, and especially the copper and faded gold is beautiful. Imo it is more beautiful this way, than if it was a shiny brass and gold version. But each to their own of course :)
I have the classic stand-type over burner siphon pot and it makes great coffee, but I like how this one shuts the burner off on its own. Aside from having to use fuel in the burner, I find most of these siphon pots are really fragile. Kitchenaid makes a decent electric Siphon Pot which I also have and actually use. The stand one just sits on the shelf.
I have this unit, the carafe broke due to the hot water, i have looked for a cheap replacement and never found one. Junk has been under the sink for 10yrs. Lets not even talk about the soot on the boiler pot (mess). Oh and cleaning the grounds out of the glass pretty much means they have to go down the drain.

Nice Just be careful If the glass cup is too cold it can shatter from the heat and can be very dangerous But other than that It is a great coffe maker 😁
This is so wierd, but I just bought this from a tag sale and then smashed the bottom pot, the one with the wick. Does ANYONE know where I could find a replacement??? It looks like this exact model. Help!!!
amazon sells these models & replacements NISPIRA Syphon Coffee Maker. what a beauiful coffee maker you have, i just descovered this model tonight and wish to own one.
I can't remember from the top of my head the capacity of these brewers, but the rule of thumb is 50 grams of coffee for every liter of water, adjust up or down to taste. These brewers need a bit of a coarser grind since the filter is quite coarse, so aim for something like you'd use for a french press.
@@GrumpytechieNet Could a whole liter of water fit in that machine? If so, why does it make only two cups then? My morning half-liter is about four (6-ounce) cups. The amount of coffee you recommend also seems a bit weak to me. I use 32 grams for my 500 ml.
@@jaymesguy239 it does make a bit more, maybe a 3rd mug or so, so around 600 - 700ml if I remember correctly. 50 grams of coffee per liter is just a starting point, it varies from coffee to coffee. Also, if your coffee is underextracted, you should change the grind, not the amount of coffee. :)
All the parts are removable so that they can easily be cleaned. The filter tube is a bit of a pain, but otherwise it's not that hard. It makes very good coffee, it's very similar to other syphon coffee brewers in that regard.

I got one on my 55 birthday and it dose make a great cup of coffee. And it's a work of functional art.
The music goes well with the equipment and the process.
If you want to look up the music
If it called gymnopedie no 1
It is an old French piece
It is truly a masterpiece

That was so beautiful it made me want to cry! If I ever get a little wind-fall, THAT is what I'll purchase! ;)
When someone asks you do you fancy a coffee? This should be the response
I just recently discovered these beautiful makers seeing one on the movie Bucket List I am getting one of these real soon.

Hey Dude, I like your video! One question, what kind of fluid do you use for your burner? Greets from Germany^^
How is it that it doesn't vacuum up coffee grounds as well?
Fun way to do this!! But the coffee here look terribly light.
It tasted alright from what I can recall, must be the lighting.
My God! How is it even possible that I discovered this only just now?
This how the coffee was first made, we're living in o modern world, that's why. But I prefer always like this. Old but gold.
you where to busy watching PORN !!
Don't feel bad I just found out myself about 20minutes ago
What type of fuel are you using for the burner?
It's an alcohol burner, so I used 99% ethanol
Beautiful

I just got one as a present for my 60th
Nice

How much coffee and water is needed? Is there any grind method?
From what I remember I went with the formula 60g/1000g water. French press grind is approx what you want for it.
So how is the coffee quality? It is gritty?
Surprisingly smooth, a bit less gritty than French press.
So if something breaks can I get replacement for it without buying a whole new one
No idea mate, I bought mine at a flee market. But if you buy a new one, check with the vendor if they sell spares.
It will be a light flavor unlike my French press where I can steep the coffee for a lot longer...Cool product though...still may get one..
Many thanks
How longs does the process take after you light the burner?
I think I cut out maybe 3-4 minutes for the water to reach boiling temperature, mind you that was with preheated water.
What kind of oil do you use in the burner?
Hi, it's an alcohol burner, so just 99% ethanol is fine.
@@GrumpytechieNet Does Vodka work serious quesiton .
@@nahno6758 nope, you'd need around 70% alcohol or more, vodka is usually 40ish % which is too dilute.

I would google balance brewer heater or burner and see what comes up

how do you clean it?
You basically rinse everything out, the only part that's hard to clean is the transfer tube.
Do you ever get coffee grinds in your cup
The tap on the boiler is slightly higher than the bottom, so it produces quite a clean cup of coffee
How many ounces of coffee do you grind to make a full container of coffee?
I can't remember from the top of my head the capacity of these brewers, but the rule of thumb is 50 grams of coffee for every liter of water, adjust up or down to taste. These brewers need a bit of a coarser grind since the filter is quite coarse, so aim for something like you'd use for a french press.
So like, 12.5g of grind per cup then?
Approximately yes, it's not really a precision brewing device for starters... :)
How do you know how much water your adding
50 grams of coffee per liter of water, adjust up or down depending on your taste

Great vid! it's a beautiful device. How does it taste?

Looking at that gives me the impression one might be expected to have house staff to handle the cleaning...
That would certainly help as well! :)
What is the ratio
Coffee to water?
is cleaning it a ball ache
Not much worse than a French press

Can milk be used instead of water?
No, it would leave the boiler and pipework full of residue, so it would be very difficult to clean.

It wasn't too weak if I recall correctly, but you're right, it looks very weak in the video. :)
Sometimes coffee looks weak and is still flavorful and viste versa.
It's seem to be tea not coffee, it's very light
Heaven forbid you reshoot the video so the spout isn't open when you pour the water in, and we have to watch you clean it up. LOL
Honestly, after getting that far I couldn't be bothered. :) and it added a bit of suspense to the video so I left it in. :)
..... razzle-dazzle but way too much hassle for a cup of coffee ......
That's one of the reasons why I made this video, so I don't have to show people IRL how it works. :)
