- Can't remember the year (the 90's). HIGNFY wins and the award is presented by pop group Steps who Paul Merton then insults
Edit: Clip of "Never Mind the Buzzcocks" cut to avoid copyright music issue. - Комедії
He doesn't really insult them. He makes a very light joke at their expense and it isn't even personal. He probably would have tried to do that to whoever was presenting the award. That's what comedians do.
Daniel Hughes tof
The hero of this video was Milligan - who never said a word.
The man was a legendary genius.
" . . . and Michael Barrymore."
[footage not found]
Claire from Steps' face when Paul tells the dark joke - brilliant 🤣🤣🤣
The year could be any year from '97-'01.
1999
98 to 2002 - Probably 2001 because I remember they used that studio that year

It’s 1999, I found it on the BCA website.
3:55 Graham's reaction 🤣🤣
I'm with Paul on that '... a personality, that's something to look forward to'.
Good on dear, departed Spike for putting Chris Evans into room 101 over Hitler etal
Scholes
Barrymore couldn’t be there as he was busy doing Aladdin
Euphemism?
Good looking boy
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’d say you’re out of your depth with that one.
@@Me-hs4jj 🤣
He mentions Comedy Wavelength at 3:40 - this first aired on Channel 4 in 1987.
He's joking making a reference to an older show, as though he had written that speech years ago, hoping to win for wavelength. He was being sarcastic.
Michael Barrymore was up for an award - this was a long time ago.
He was up for far too much.
Best pool party award
JR has never mastered being natural when reading the autocue has he :p
Nice to Jonathan Ross wearing Liberace old hand me downs,
To be fair, the fashon on british panel shows still look like the 90's, so it could've been last year.
no mention of Kirsty Young. she could turn a Confirmed Bachelor. easily.
Graham looking a LOT like a Kevin Spacey there.
as i`m not exactly a fan of steps who`s the pretty one behind paul merton.
Kirsty Young went to ITV news in 2000, so this must be 1999.
And we both would snog her luscious lips wouldn't we friend?
What year is this? 1999-2000?
1999
Women from the 90s were banging. Look at that Faye.
1.48 Spaghetti Bolognaise IS English. No one knows what that is in Italy ! Pasta Ragu is what they eat.
Our, particularly uncouth English brethren call it "Spaghetti Bollock Naked". oh and it's "Bolognese" by the way, as from Bologna.
Bolognaise is the French spelling apparently
And now Jonathan is ITV
Its from December 1999
Has anyone outside the UK ever heard of Steps?
they had chart success in Australia yes
yes, every country in the world has heard of steps, they're little mini floors that help you get to bigger floors.
This is from 1999
To those in the comments who don’t find him funny:
WHY THE HELL ARE YOU WATCHING THIS VIDEO!?
kvetching is very popular this season.
Spaghetti Bolognese is an English invention. It doesn't exist in Italy.
BANG ON Paul Merton. Low grade ABBA wannabe rip offs.
weren't they all
I like ABBA as much as the next man, but they were hardly oozing personality themselves were they.
Low grade ABBA wannabe rip off? So which one was he? Agnetha Fältskog? Or Anni-Frid Lyngstad? I can’t quite remember.
At 4:20 Vic is not impressed
I’d take that as a compliment if I were Merton.
It wasn't a great joke.
3:47 what does he say?! closed captioning didn't understand 'im either!
What do you mean get off? LOL
The worst awards ceremony I’ve ever watched.
Definitely seen worst.
Quite nice of Ross to apologise for his "fay" joke to the guy from Steps. Kudos to him, obviously felt bad about it.
Weird, at 8:02 the narrator refers to Ian and 'Sir Ian Hislop', I don't remember him being knighted, or was it out of good decorum I wonder?
He said "just minus Ian Hislop"
Cruitheach It's just after the minus. I can hear "Well the teams are here just minus 'Sir' Ian Hislop..." or it sounds like "'Uhh' Ian Hislop" it's ever so brief.
I'm pretty sure it was just hesitation...or he was a REALLY big fan :))
Cruitheach Aha! So you can hear it too I gather? At least I'm not going crazy.
Sounds just like Sir, but must be "Minus, er, Ian. . ."
Paul Merton looks a bit like Pete Doherty here lol ...not even kidding....a well presented Pete Doherty albeit
Grahams fake surprise lol
The Old Women was correct spaghetti bolognese is English. It's an English dish invented in England you go to Italy and ask for it they won't know what you are talking about. The only thing Italian about it is the spaghetti! OHHH MAMAMERE...
I'm guessing 1998
Close. ‘99
Kirsty was a good sport but that was cringe worthy from Jonathan Ross. Also only a few years later She would guest Host HIGNFY
What the hell is Wossy wearing?
Style of the Day. way back before you were..I'm going with aware, you were certainly born before 2000
How does Jonathan Ross, no matter what year or decade he shows up in, manage to appear old?
Love Merton, he's fantastic.
What’s happened to Barrymore?
A dead gay was found in his swimming pool.......
@@davidwhite4874Buggered and left for dead.
@@theculturedthug6609 Yes, indeed.
Michael Barrymore before the swimming pool.
Angus Deayton before the prostitute.
Bravo, Paul. I never liked steps. What I never understood was the appalling excuse for 'dancing' 🤮 I mean, why did they call themselves steps with horrific dancing like that? Was it supposed to be deliberately ironic??
I actually miss Barry Moore. Fuck me...
You probably shouldn't say that to him.
Claire back in the day. Christ.
She’s not bad now
All three to be fair.
Paul Merton is a LEGEND
wow barrymore lol
I'm guessing 1999?
They show a clip of Say You'll Be Mine which came out at the very end of 99 so my guess would be early 2000.
yes 1999
2000
AND TO THINK WE THOUGHT THIS WAS GREAT---
if you ever thought this embarrassment was great then that says a lot about british standards....
Mertons not as funny as he would have us believe he is . loves himself. ego central.
witterth: It's not his fault - he must have been quite traumatised after that grandfather clock fell and killed his granny.
@@heli-crewhgs5285 It was her time.
Thank you for letting us know he's not funny. I will stop laughing at his jokes now. Cheers.
Innit marvellous....
How funny does Merton have us believe he is then.? You can't even quantify that asinine remark. Look it up.
I hate these rude young comedians. No real talent.
Young?
@@leeshapon Comparitively young at the time they became well known.
