  • What do you think? can this Chinese un-licensed RC be considered a crawler? Let's put it through its paces, and you let me know below.
I have recently returned to RC after being out of it for over 20 years.
I started with small and cheap crawlers, mostly from China, which are booming in the sector, and this one just came out..., and I think, quite special.
Not only is it a stunning looking rig, modeled after the famous G-wagen, in its most extreme iteration, but also a surprising performer.
I love that it cost as much as any of its competitors, but it's SO much more capable and rugged.
I throw everything at it, water, mud, impossible hills, even after several rolls, and it just came back for more!!
In case you're wondering, yes, it has some modifications, but except for the added details of paint in very few areas I did to make it look yet more real, the roof's light bar, and the Electronic Speed Control, which is something you need to buy for this kit (as the radio and receiver), anyway, all the mods are from MN themselves: metal wheels (heavyweight, helping bring the center of gravity lower) with foams, metal driveshafts (I will admit, after a bit of extreme climbing, the original plastic ones gave up in about half an hour), lights (which don't improve performance, but surely it makes it look nicer and more scale).

Only just discovered this little rig. Have read your comments here and I see your point. Looks like a decent little runner with a few minor additions. Thanks for putting me onto it :)

Except for the wheels, which were disc. in my previous link, those are the sellers I ordered from, and were the most competitive prices back when I found them. They may have shifted slightly back and forth, but overall, I keep check, and these are still quite competitive prices. Hope these are available for you to order, down under!

It really is a great value kit however its more of a trail crawler, its really tail heavy since its a wagon. Great video of showing how it can perform!

No argument that it's not a hardcore crawler... what hard body is? But in my experience with the highly regarded WPL models, which I have five of, with different levels of upgrades, none come even close to how capable this is going up hills. And it doesn't need a two speed gearbox for it, which says a lot of how well thought out it is.
It seems to me the chassis takes a lot of cues from MST CMX (I also own one of these) and CFX, cost-cuts it in the right places, and puts the cherry on top with a really detailed body.
Even though the hard body is quite hefty, the chassis is also quite heavy, especially if you opt to upgrade it with these metal (not aluminium, so heavyweight!) wheels, metal drive shafts (necessary, as the plastic ones don't stand much hard-crawling time). All of this make it quite stable laterally, and not as top heavy as one would think. Probably due to how wide the axles are.
I've rolled it backwards (as seen in the vid) many more times than sideways, which again, aligns with your comment, but have a look at it, even in the video which hardly shows how steep it is, the body looks almost vertical before it tips backwards. =)

@@YoShImUrA53 yeah as I mentioned its tail heavy but its generally balanced than the previous MN models. Thanks or your detailed feedback! I'm in the process of purchasing one, good to know its not as bad as I initially thought on steep inclines.

@@ghobbies7731 to be perfectly honest, I think one of its secrets are its tires+foams+wheels combo. They are actually from MN. Quite easy to locate on aliexpress. Totally recommend you to get those, and the also MN metal drive shafts. Lemme know if you can't find it, and I'll send you some links. Also, aftermarket light kit from MN is pretty good considering the price... If you also get the same 1060 Hobbywing ESC as I have, you're in for about 150€ with the KS kit (worth the price difference in my opinion with the regular MN86K. It's not only the plastics, which protect the body a lot, but the bushings, the better motor and second pinion) with a FLYSKY GT3C radio, but I think my WPL have automatically become shelf queens. The other day I ran a C44KM for some comparison of some of the spots in this video, and it couldn't go anywhere compared to the MN86...
