Even though in the West, “Caucasian” is seen as a synonym for White, the actual meaning of the word is to refer to the people of the Caucasus mountains, many of which would not be seen as European or White due to close historic and cultural ties with Asia and the Iranic and Turkic worlds. The word was appropriated from its actual use by Johann Blumenbach and has since been used in race science to push unscientific ideas of biological race. The reality is race is a social construct, Europeans as all other Homo Sapiens come from Africa.
Click the video in the caption for more historical information on why this happened.

A good post, with one error. Race comes from Latin and means roots. Roots are not a social construct.
On a macro scale there is one race, on a micro scale there are a few billion races.
The important bit is that our roots only matter for medical purposes, nothing else.

@@Andrew-mj5rfReducing the meaning of modern terms to their etymology is deeply misleading and unhelpful. Imagine if I said "carbon comes from Latin Carbō and means charcoal". This statement is correct, but it ignores the modern world, where carbon now has a litany of meanings aside. It seems that you're also conflating race with haplogroups, which again is misleading. Race is socially constructed because it exists as a means for social reproduction to continue. I suggest you look into reading Tithi Bhattacharya.

Anglo-Saxon is a huge misnomer as well. Depending where your family hails in England, you’re probably not as “Anglo Saxon” as you think. Northern Brits only have about 10% admixture, while some populations in the south and east have been found to have 40%. Large swaths of Irish, welsh, and Scotts have zero “Anglo Saxon”descent and are mostly descended from the much earlier bell beaker arrivals and celts, with a bit of Norman and Viking invader in the mix
Maybe not true in your case, but I’ve seen “Anglo Saxon” applied to any white Protestant American (WASP) when usually that person is actually a mixture of several European ethnic group (usually some Germanic one included, but not always, which makes it totally inaccurate)

      5. Chess: While not a modern invention, chess is believed to have originated in ancient Armenia and continues to be a popular game in the country.
It is important to give attention to Armenian intelligence and innovation for several reasons:
      1. Diversity of perspectives: By recognizing and celebrating Armenian inventors and their contributions, we can highlight the diversity of ideas and perspectives that exist within the global community.
      2. Inspiration for future generations: By showcasing the achievements of Armenian inventors, we can inspire and motivate young Armenians and others to pursue their own innovative ideas and make a positive impact in the world.
      3. Cultural appreciation: Recognizing Armenian inventions helps to promote cultural appreciation and understanding, and acknowledges the important role that Armenians have played in shaping our world.
Overall, giving attention to Armenian intelligence and innovation not only honors the achievements of Armenian inventors but also serves to promote diversity, inspire future generations, and foster cultural appreciation.

I absolutely love your videos and as an Armenian, it really pisses me off whenever I have to put on a form what I identify as culturally. There’s usually almost never Middle Eastern and I never know what to put down except white. The problem is that even though that’s my skin color, I’m not white I’m Eastern European bc everyone in America can’t actually define where the Middle East is. The Middle East is literally where Syria and Jordan are it’s that whole area that’s considered middle eastern. So me putting down middle eastern on those forms is still wrong.
I showed my mom one of your videos on the word Caucasian and it completely changed her perspective because she realized that for decades Armenians have been called Caucasian even though that’s not even accurate. I showed the same video to my AP World History teacher and she loved it bc she learned something new. Thank you for your channel and for spreading awareness ❤️

The problem is that most people fail to understand that “white” was never an actual scientific classification to begin with. There was a time when Irish and Slavic people weren’t considered white. So this isn’t about people being ignorant as much as it is the term “white” expanding and being used to refer to a larger, more diverse group of people, ranging from many people in Latin America to Germany to some people in the Middle East. People are not at all consistent with that their definition of “white” is. Is it someone who is European? Someone who has pale skin? Because some of the people shown in this video would definitely fall under the pale skin category, just like many individuals from the Middle East. Ideally the concept of race should just be abolished altogether, as we should really stop relying on such an antiquated way of thinking and conceptualizing different groups of people. And on one final note, you guys understand that words can have different meanings colloquially, right? Many words grow to refer to a larger, more general group of people over time. I’m not saying that it’s right, as it’s probably invalidating to the people of the caucuses, but it isn’t surprising nor is it really the fault of Americans for having it engrained in their vocabulary.

Race isn’t actually real, but there are some gene pools that clustered with similar features in certain regions… there should be way more classifications than those 3 if they want to get technically, but even then those would just be old gene pools that “originated” that way… over time when these pools intermingle we become like Mr potato heads.. skin color/eye color/hair color/hair type/eyes/skull shape and features can mix and match almost at random…. That guy who came up with those 3 was basing on primarily skull shape.

..... Uh no.. I'm saying this because of you break down by DNA and archaeology you go back to indo European, they come from the stepp went as far as north Africa and all in the west. Eurasian people who went into Asia and the Middle East, then sub Saharan Africa... Your true black people... The admixture of east, west and north Africa is of Middle Eastern aka indo European/Eurasian. These are the correct terms. Anything else is well for political, religious, or just plan racism one of the three. For as much as we all have been lied to I rather pass along the truth that I have done years worth or research from listening to different sources. And when I say I as a person who is white lives in America have done not only my DNA but also looked into hologroups of r1a r1b l1a j1a etc the trace for african alone starts in sub Sahara and ends in Africa while the j1a came from the middle east into Africa the others are in Europe going back to tte stepp... J1a also went west as well.

You shouldn't even spread knowledge taken from a guy in a random video, because he doesn't seem like a very studied person. Caucasian is almost synonymous with Indo-European, which represents a family of populations, of which both he and Western Europeans are part, together with: Indians, Iranians, Pakistanis, Slavs (Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians..)! You can find the origin by studying languages, etymologies, idioms, alphabets... having said this, ethnic groups are a biodiversity and I like to think of them as a world full of flowers of different colours. We understand Northwestern European immigrants in America are not "Caucasian", but what the real Caucasians in Central and Eastern Europe don't always understand about the US Census and US immigration law is this: White is a legal racial classification and is an umbrella category for European people who who are neither black, Asian, Indigenous American or Pacific Islander. There is technically also another group that has been added for legal filings and demographic records, but is not used as often and it is Middle Eastern/North African (MENA). If you immigrate here but don't belong to those groups, and you are from anywhere in Europe, you are legally classified as "white" like all other Europeans. You may not descent from the British, Germans or any of the Saxons or Scandinavians, but even the real Caucasians are still "white" here in terms of US immigration law. Even the Kardashian are legally white under US law even though they are Armenian ethnically.

Yeah this thing about SWANA people being classified as white in the US (and im aware that some look white) has a particular history actually. Its because a lebanese immigrant in the early 1900s said that if he wasnt white, than neither Jesus was. Christian led conservative governments had to include SWANA folks as white because the possibility of admitting that their beloved Jesus was a person of color was too appalling

We are both middle eastern ethnic groups. The Caucus mountains are also part of the middle east. The Caucus mountains are not just in Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
