      @Lilwhitedove3
      They are supposed to be but fake ones do get mixed in with the real.
      It doesn't help alot of times names or locations are changed to protect identities before they are submitted to people who read them, who might also could change the names out of respect. So then you have a story that was supposed to be about Carol and Diane from Wyoming who are now steph and bree from Kansas. so looking up a police report or missing persons report from the area doesn't work because the names or place are wrong.
      Alot of times if the story seems unbelievable they are true.
      But the way I see it true or false learn a lesson from the stories of people that get told on here. Have friends, don't be stupid, trust your gut instincts, protect yourself somehow, be very careful who you trust, and most importantly tell people where you are going and when to panic if they don't hear from you. If you are camping one night and they don't hear from you by noon the next day and can't contact you assume the worse.

    I retired and moved to a mountain in WV, the best thing I ever did in my life 16 miles from town and peace and quiet only seven families live on this mountain, they are great folks and are always willing to help, I wouldn't trade it for anything after spending most of my life up north and traveling on my work, you can live your life here and not be bothered by the worlds problems

      I disagree with that. In the movie,"Deliverance" the locals were the problem. There are still a lot of backward places and people in the US and other countries. In the south they still don't like Yankees and its been over 150 years since the Civil War ended. Every US state has backward places.

      Oh no I felt the same way wanting to take that hike until I read where two women did and so far into the hike her friend because of her health she had to stop. The one woman who stayed to finish the hike her husband came and picked up the friend who opted out & left his wife with more food, water. Well he was to meet her at the last point of her successful hiking the Appalachian trail she wasn't there. Hours went by in to days and weeks but because where she had decided to put up her tent ⛺ off of the trail put her in a blind spot. Weeks later they found her tent and her belongings scattered and in ruins. I believe they did later find her skeleton remains. 🙏✨😥

And you know she wasn't talking to her phone saying "I could taste the silly but my body was thanking me...". Also, what kind of amazing battery did she have in her phone. Another biggie is that she would've had to still been recording when he strung her up, and then he would've had to decide he didn't care about the phone & purposely leave it where it'd be found... not at all worried about that leading to the cops finding his shack & arresting him.

    Seminole Indians live in the Florida Everglades. There is still no treaty between the tribe and the U.S. government. On December 29, 1972 a commercial airliner crashed deep in the Everglades. At the time I read about it in the Washington Post. I was puzzled at a cryptic line in the article about rescue efforts being hampered by people in the area. It was only later I read short followup article that clarified that rescue workers were interfered with by Seminoles who were looting the dead and wounded. The article tried to soften the revelation by adding that the tribe graciously allowed rescuers to operate from a small clearing in the area of the crash. Basic details about the crash, Eastern Air Lines Flight 401 (but nothing about the Seminoles) can be found online.

    Water is always top of the list. First aid book and supplies and street reflectors in the town/city.
