My wife and I travel extensively. We have an understanding if one of us doesn't feel right about it we don't proceed. We change plans we redirect without argument no matter how inconvenient. If it gets creepy we leave immediately we've been enough places to know that peaceful places are peaceful for a reason and creepy places are creepy for a reason.

I love this with my whole heart and I sincerely feel the same my friends started calling me pointdexter a really long time ago. I do have above perfect vision and I always have but it's more of a gut feeling type of thing I was ready for anything when I was younger due to certain circumstances and I think that had me trained whether I realized it or not to pick up on behavioral patterns and sounds and feelings or as and I swear I say that it's the holy Spirit moving me he's the one directing me and saving me but I listen I listen and I have always prayed that if I can't hear you shove me

My Aunt has ALWAYS told me to " trust your gut " , " it is NEVER wrong"!!!
Many years ago , her and my uncle went to a national state park for a picnic. She said they ate and then decided to go for a walk before leaving.
My uncle ( who's very smart and level headed ) looked at her really concerned and told her he had a bad feeling all of a sudden and thought they should leave.
Surprised , she told him she did also! She said she really couldn't explain it , but , it was just a very unsettling and foreboding feeling. The sun was starting to go down so they thought maybe they were just being silly and feeling creeped out.
They left the park and didn't think much more of it. The next day , they were watching the news and found out someone had been murdered the previous evening...in THAT park where they had been at around the same time they were there! Instincts are real and should ALWAYS be trusted!

Every time I ignored my gut feeling and put it down to, i was just being silly and paranoid, i regretted that decision to ignore it.
      Every time something untoward happened.
      Honestly I cannot explain it.
I only know it to be reliable.
The Last intense feeling i had ( which I call a knowing....because I don't know what else to call it)
My dog and long time best friend was getting older and because he was part Alsation/ German shepherd as he got older he began having problems with his back legs.
Ppl who have experience with this breed of dog know that this is a notorious issue with this breed of dog.
Apart from these issues he was in great health.
It only meant that he struggled navigating the stairs in our home.
Because he was a softy and enjoyed company i decided to sleep downstairs with him so he didn't feel lonely at night.
Like i said otherwise he was in good health and my sleeping downstairs with him went on for a long time.
One morning i awoke and I cannot explain it at all, however I had this very strong feeling that I had better double check on him.
Of course he was fine, however I couldn't shake away the feeling that I didn't have long left with my dog.
Apart from his weaker back legs he was in good health and there was no reason i could find to be worried about him, everything was the same way it had been for a while.
I just knew and I couldn't explain it.
Anyway cutting a long story short approximately 8 weeks later he was diagnosed with a terminal illness and we lost him not long afterwards.
I cannot explain it like i said and i wasn't even thinking about him or worrying about him at the time, it was completely out of the blue.
What i am grateful for was that I felt like I was forewarned and it gave me a chance to completely spoil him before he passed.
Because I can assure you I just knew.

I read this book The Gift Of Fear. An ex police detective wrote this book. It says God gave us this give to protect us That little voice that bad feeling of fear. We should listen. When animals sense danger they run from it. But as humans we say "'oh I'm just being silly" or we just straight up dismiss it. He went on to say 9 out of 10 times when he interview a victim they always say " I knew that didn't seems right. I knew better. Or I had this sense of fear & wanted to leave but didn't" I started listening to that voice. Please everyone you should too.

This isn’t a frightening woods camping story, this is a sand dune camping story. My wife and I went camping on a beach in NC that is a no access to cars. So we parked in house area of the citizens of the outer banks. Not many houses or people but we parked and walked over the dunes then down the beach walk about half an hour. Set up tent, made a fire, cooked some shrimp she drank a couple beer and I had a nice bourbon. We went into the tent but both started hearing voices in the dunes.
I got the flashlight and started looking. Couldn’t find anyone but kept hearing the voices move. When I got back she had packed it all and we went straight to the car and went home. Never been back and won’t go

I agree. As a grandma myself, it did take me years to understand and pay close attention to even the tiniest little feeling that something is 'off' about a person or situation. As a young woman, I was so in love that I ignored some very subtle things about the fun, charming man I was dating. In a few short months, we were living together. One night, having gone to bed before him, I awoke when he came into the bedroom to get something. Suddenly I was gripped with an unexplainable fear... of him! I recall thinking, "Who IS he?" As he left the room, the fear subsided and though disturbed by it, I fell back to sleep. In the morning, recalling that puzzling and unexplained fear, I shook it off and chose to put it out of my mind. Ignoring my gut feeling was the worst mistake ever because within a week, we had an argument and he attacked me, beating me severely. At one point, he threw me against a wall, and my head hit the edge of a baseboard heater, causing a deep gash requiring sixteen stitches. Ever since, I have paid attention to even the most subtle feelings of something not quite right.

One time we were in a PITCH BLACK night in a tent at a campground on the Sulphur Creek in Washington State. We were asleep in our tent. In the middle of the night, here was a Whoooup, Whoooup, Whoooup sound from HIGH UP in those tall trees. When we heard it the second time, we grabbed our flashlights, THREW everything into the car willy nilly, and GOT THE HELL OUT OF THERE.

I live in Southern Oregon coast, and we have creepy stuff here. Hunters that go missing for no reason. I remember walking down a dirt road in the Powers area and suddenly heard what sounded like rocks moving against each other. Right next to me. Didn't see anything but decided to leave! Another time I was at Golden and Silver falls with our geology group from the local college. I was taking up the rear and right behind me I heard a mean, growling noise. Didn't see anything. Weird, as animals will run away from you in the wild. I had an umbrella and opened it up. For some reason someone from our group decided to come back to the end and walk with me. 'So, I wouldn't be alone'. I think he had a creepy feeling or heard it too. Never been back to either place.

We were planning to go to Mass, about 15 minutes before leaving I had a terrible feeling. I told my husband that I felt like I was having an anxiety attack but I wasn’t worried about anything or stressed out. But then the feeling suddenly left. So we got into the car and drove to the church. My husband took a shortcut to avoid traffic so as we reached the main road, he stopped and was waiting for the traffic to slow down, so he could make a right turn and merge. But as he was stopped and waiting, BAM!, a car rear ended us. I couldn’t believe it because our car was only 9 months old. If I had listened to my feelings, we would have gone to church the next morning and not left the house that night. I’ll definitely listen to any strange sensations I feel in the future.

I've lived in a rural county all my life. I have no desire for camping. I went with my boyfriend and his family. He wasn't much of a camper either. I slept in a large tent with his mom and sister in law. Also his niece slept there. The next morning I was surprised. They had iron skillets. My future mother-in-law and sister in law cooked breakfast. Whole nine yards. She baked biscuits, fried meat, eggs, etc. Just like at home. I hadn't slept much. I'd seen a movie a recently about a group that some people had attracted and terrified. They killed the campers. I didn't know that everyone in the camp had firearms. I'd lost sleep for nothing.

Gut feelings and trust your dog.
    A bit of a long story....so fair warning :P
This happened back in the mid 1970s when I was a 13 year old girl. It was in an itty bitty Idaho town. I was often alone at the house after school and on weekends, as my parents were divorced and my dad worked from 7 am to sometimes 6pm.
I had two dogs, Sampson and Hey You....both were friendly, always wagged their tails and got excited if someone knocked on our door, like a friend of my dad's or whatever.
I was told by my mom and dad that if I ever answered the door, and I was alone at the house, and someone wanted to speak with my mom or dad, I was to tell them my dad was asleep and my mom was at the store and should be home any minute. And to keep the screen door locked between us.
Well, one day, I'm alone like usual...I forgot to lock the screen door and the doorbell rang.
I opened the door and a tall thin man in a suit, holding a briefcase, was standing there. In this town, it was very rare to see anyone dressed in a suit, other than a few lawyers, and Mormon missionaries....or if one was attending a funeral or other church service.
He had the screen door opened. And he didn't ask if my parents were home...he said,
    "Are you here alone?"
That guy feeling... it kicked me like a mule! This guy had like blank eyes and a flat tone to his voice. Plus both of my very friendly dogs were growling! And too, there was very little traffic in that area of town...we even had a dirt road as the pavement ended about 4 houses west of our home. A lot roads in our town were dirt back then. And I didn't hear a car pull into our drive which kind of hooked like a question mark from the turn off the main road to then go around out house. I could also see out the other window in the kitchen and no car parked on that straight part of that ? mark part of the drive.
The back porch faced a tree line and on the other side if was the highway, so he could have parked there, could see our home from the highway/town street and just walk the 50 yards or so to get to our back porch.
I told him that my dad was asleep on the living room sofa, and I didn't want to wake him up and I asked him if he could just leave me a message or if he could give me a business card.
The guy said he would just come back another time. He turned to go, and I automatically put my arm to to stop the screen door from slamming shut (old kind with a spring on it rather than hydraulic things like ones now have). As I did that, my dog, Hey You, who weighed about 30 pounds, shot out of the house and started snapping at this guy's legs.
I had NEVER seen her behave that way! Not only that, the kind of misnamed, Sampson slipped out too, She...(yes, she...no one bothered to look at her gender when I got her as a puppy) she, squared off on the top of the porch landing and just growled, but didn't join Hey You in the bouncing about and growling/snapping she was doing. Usually those 2 dogs...if one did something the other joined in.
The guy started to make little kicks at that dog, and I was shocked and a little appalled by my dog's behavior and I yelled "Hey You STOP IT !!!"
    The guy froze mid kick.
LOL....he thought I was yelling at him for doing little kicks at my dog.
Hey You ran back to me, and I told the man sorry that my dog went after him. I was too shook up to tell him my dog's name was Hey You. He didn't say anything and left.
I quickly shut and locked both the screen door and the door, checked the front doors and the windows to make sure all was locked, then called my dad to please send my 16 year old brother home early. They both worked in our family store together.
My brother, by the way, was only 16, but he looked 21 and was absolute solid muscle, he played iron man football on the high school team. He played offense and defense due to our town not having enough guys to make for a complete football team. I can't remember what spot he played on offense, but on defense he was a cornerback.
I *think* in not telling that man Hey You's name maybe it gave him the impression that if I, a young girl, was willing to Yell at a man to stop doing something...that maybe I would be too much of an effort to do something bad too? So he never came back?
I don't know, but I know I was creeped out for days afterwards. I also made sure the screen door was locked after that, and my dad, brother and I went back up to the rifle range and I got in some more practice with the .22 revolver we kept in a drawer next to the back porch door.
Like most people here have said, trust your instincts. That guy really made me feel afraid and also had my normally tail wagging dogs on full out protective mode. Both of those dogs lived to be 16 years old and never again did I see that kind of behavior in them.

And right now, I have a cat with a missing back right leg, I named her Thump, because when she walks across the floor she goes, thump, thump, thump, thump.
And too.. I have currently another golden retriever. I almost didn't name him what I did because it sounds so close to the name Hey You.
I named him AU. Au, is the chemical name for gold on the periodic table of elements. But a lot of people think I am saying "hey you' when I tell them his name. So, there is kind of an inside joke there for me, at least with his name.
And too, I capped his name just because I like the looks of it like that, but in caps AU is also the abbreviation for Australia. And 'down under' I think most Aussies would say 'Hey you' as...Ay You (AU) so, that kind of fits too, in a way.

I went up and ran face to face into a giant bull elk. We looked at each other and it took off down the mountain. I thought my in-law was down below. I could hear the bull crashing through the trees. I got lost after that. It was getting later in the afternoon, and the sun was slowly heading down. I walked and walked. Then after 3 hours of walking, I came up on a logging road. The roads are numbered. I walked in one direction, and recognized the road number. I saw our Ford Bronco, and found my bro in-law. It was really cold at night and in the mornings during the winter. We almost had an elk before I got lost. My bro in-law was an ex marine. He aimed. I kept whispering now, now. My bro in-law froze and then shot. The group took off down the hill. This was in 1988.

LISTEN TO YOUR GUT INSTINCT. MY family and I went to a hometown festival for about 15 minutes, something kept saying: "Go home,go home." I ignored it for a while, but it kept speaking in my mind. I finally told my family, "Let's go!
We got home, and a river of water was running all through my home and out each door! My home was flooded, and I had my 8-year-old Bishon in his cage. I read that book also...the stories of women (mostly) and people, generally make Gavin de Becker's point very clear. If I am waiting for an elevator and the door opens and I feel even a "twinge" of discomfort about the person standing inside, I pretend I forgot something and leave for another "exit"
    I don't care if it's "nothing" I don't care about "social niceties" if I don't feel safe.
Once, some years before I read Gavin's book., as a younger female, I was walking home at 10 pm in the dark, on a familiar residential street when I noticed about a block ahead, the figure of a man turning the corner and walking up the same street ahead of me.Then I observed him to "duck" into a driveway belonging to the house of a friendly neighbor boy of my acquaintance. The man started to crouch behind the car in the driveway and suddenly turned around, out of the driveway, and began walking back down the street towards me.
I felt danger approaching me and I felt that no matter what, I should not let this person pass and get "behind" me so before he was four feet from me, I asked in a loud and commanding voice (I don't know why but something told me to act aggressive with this total stranger!!!!?!!!) "Where are you going!!! (as if I had any business demanding an explanation from this stranger!!!!!
The next weird thing is that he immediately started mumbling something about looking for a party..but evidently I had stolen the "element of surprise" by accosting him in a way he wasn't expecting. He started to tell me "I'm looking for a party, isn't there a party somewhere around here?" As I took in the full picture of him standing and stammering in front of me I saw that he had his naked penis out and was fondling himself. And from some very primitive place inside of me I started screaming AT him using the most horrible words I had ever even heard, calling him the most despicable human in very bad language at the top of my lungs. It was as if I was taken over by a fit of loathing almost foreign to my understanding and these words poured out of me at a huge loud volume and somewhere in the midst of it, the perv just took off running.
    He/it was GONE.
I looked for him in all directions however I FELT that the danger had absolutely VANISHED...afraid of encountering "me" again...which is good because I would have torn him limb from limb if he tried to touch me. I don't know "how" but I know I would have hurt him badly at the very least. I walked the rest of the way home without fear.
A few years later my Mom took a training called "model mugging" in which women practiced self defense against a would-be attacker)
(This should be a mandatory class for all young women)
The very first thing that they tell women to do is to open their mouth and scream the word "NO!!!!!!!" from the epicenter of their being to make it clear to not only the would-be attacker, but to themselves-, there is NO WAY!!!!! this is going to be easy OR pleasant for this POS, should it persist in its intention.
Ordinarily I am a "compassionate" person but for
miscreants/predators like this, I know which one of us MUST be destroyed by any encounter. Burnt cookies need to go back to the factory and if they make it my job to send them there, back to the factory, they WILL GO.

Hearing your story makes me feel more goosebumps. It happens though but as usual our instincts warns us from unseen dangers of paranormal activities.
    My real story below.
Once not long ago l had to go back home driving through a mountain forest which had many untold horrors since hundreds years past. As this was the only road connecting to the main high way there are no other choices. Many deaths had happened in this path, the police classify them only as accidents.
While packing my bag to go home l put on a red colored t-shirt. An inner voice from inside said don't wear the red colored shirt. I thought it was my imagination and some kind of thoughts that did not comprehend or match with real life situations, so it did not bother me at all. And l did not remove the red shirt. Then about the time l got in the car and about to start it. The same inner voice was louder and sounds scolding said "didn't l told you not to wear the red shirt, then why are you still wearing it..". I realized this was a warning, l open my bag and found a blue t-shirt and changed it removing the red one. Then there was a silence and l did not hear the voice again.
After a while as a believing Christian l was wondering what the voice was all about , then out of no where an impression came to my mind which l sincerely believe from the Holy Spirit. That l had been given an immunity of safety driving the dangerous roads through the mountains and forest given to me by God. However this immunity can be broken if l wore anything red. This may sound a little odd to some but l believe that we are protected when we are obedient to Him.

I will never forget looking into the Imnaha river valley and those ancient Bristlecone pines, which some claim are the oldest living things on earth. Our crew were all 19-22 YO and were able to overtake the mule train bringing in dinner. Being a wilderness area no motors or airplanes were allowed. We did use chainsaws to down the hazard trees. After 9 days of fighting and the risk was gone they gave us the option to ride out on a helicopter. 3 others and I chose to walk out and get 3 more hours of pay.

I once went to walk through some woods with my dog and suddenly had this feeling of dread as if I would regret it if I carried on. My dog was acting normally I wasn’t thinking of anything that could have caused my feelings but I decided to turn round and go out of the woods. No idea if anything would’ve happened if I’d carried on but as I was alone it was easier to change my mind without having to explain to anyone. Not sure if I’d have done same if I’d been with someone as wouldn’t have liked to have to explain something that could’ve just been in my head.
