So many deaths for nothing, specially due to freaking maniac generals that used soldiers until the very last minute like pieces on a chess board.

@@melonmelon309but he does know Paul is a German, and in a war setting, a uniform is all that's needed to know if he is your enemy. And in war, you have to kill the enemy and his friends, because while your enemy might let you live, his friends likely won't. And your enemy knows this, so he has to kill you and your friends. Because while you may let him live, he knows your friends won't. Plus, this was heat of the moment. And you have no way of knowing what you'd do in a war. If you were in that Frenchman's place, you may have spared Paul. Or you might have stabbed him. You don't know. I can't say I'd have spared him with 100% confidence. I might have, but when you're actually there you have no idea

@@zerophantomyt433 I understand what you are saying but I'll let you know, everyone, the French and German allies would have been waiting for that war to end just to stop the killing spree they had been on. War is a brutal and unimaginable place and all people want is to get out of there. Trust me, as soon as they knew the war was over they would not of killed him. Take the football (Soccer) game that took place on Christmas in 1914 (WW1) enemies got along and had fun like old friends and would do anything to keep it like that. Only the insane liked being in war and only the mental would keep killing at the end of the war. I understand the heat of the moment. But they could have helped him, not leave him for dead. Tried to save one last soul. You could see in there eyes, they understand how young and innocent he truly is.
