For me it makes sense to buy 5 oz bars when they are unloved and the premiums are low. I’ve added 20 to my stack over the years when they were out of favor. They are easy to sell to my small LCS and earlier today when I asked what he was looking for he said ASEs and 5 oz bars. Said he’d give spot for any 5 oz bars.

Love 5oz bars and 100gramers. I picked up 7 Itals.
If you have to sell in a hurry, it is better to sell a 5 oz poured bar than a 10 oz better finished bars. That way you won't eat as much premium if the price of silver is less than you paid.
1 oz bars have too high of a premium in silver and at 5 oz the premiums practically disappear and you get access to a wide range of nice cast bars.
5oz is the biggest I buy, most people do not think about the future and end up buying 10oz or bigger, what happens when silver goes to $100/oz or more which at some point it will. At that point anything bigger than 5oz will be a challenge to sell and they will be very unpopular. 1 once is best but the 5oz right now has a really low premium about the same as a 10oz bar, its a no brainer to just get the 5oz.

All my silver bars except one (a 1-oz Christmas bar) are 5 ounces. Will never buy a larger bar, just doesn’t make sense for future selling or bartering.

Bullion Exchanges, Black Friday price was $.99 for lot of 20. I think it's $2.00 now.
I have done 10oz vs two 5oz from sdbullion and right now 2 fives are cheaper and its much more than 3 over spot, its like $10 to $20 and then tax.

anyone actually weigh their bars when they get them? I have 3 different 5oz bars 3 different mints and all 3 weight 5.50 and my 1oz rounds and bars all weigh 1.10 It would seem they actually give you a little extra so when you buy two 5oz bars you are actually getting 11oz not 10... WOW! or all of my shit is fake?
Look up the difference between “troy” ounce and “avoir dupois” ounce.
