As a Mexican, I don't see anything wrong with the use of an Aztec indian as a mascot. As long as they are not degrading the imagen and instead are praising it in a favorable way.

A lot of Mexicans have Aztec blood. Aztecs descendents are mainly in México City. I am 1/4 Yaqui. Yaquis are mainly from Sonora, Mexico. My grandmother a USA citizen. Her family lived in the part that was Mexico before it became part of the USA.
She met and married my Yaqui grandfather.
Just like most "indians" their land was taken and they were moved around, and those that resisted were killed or were chased out of their community.
They tried to enslave them, but they couldn't because they are resilent people.

As a Mexican, I fully 100% support the Name and Imagery. That's my Country's History, and I am happy SDSU respects it. VIVA MEXICO

As a native American and college football fan, I see no wrong with the Utah Utes and San Diego State Aztecs (names, mascots, icons, images etc) Actually, it us a great way to expose and promote knowledge about ancient cultures, our history, our roots and traditions and our ancestors would definitely approve of any positive remembrance specially sports, physical activity and learning. Go Aztecs! 💪👍

In this era of woke people tearing down statues of slave owners,I'm surprised that no one was against having an Aztec warrior as a mascot because of the Aztecs practicing human sacrifice.

Cómo mexicano no veo problema con que se llamen aztecas y lo representen así, por el contrario representa el orgullo azteca!!! Se acaban de ganar un simpatizante!!!

its more complexed than that. its only ok to be a latino when you want to use it in your mascot, but not in your mural or in your school or in your work places.

what applies to one sport and team should apply to all. San DIego State is being a bunch of hypocrites. Get another mascot just like other teams have

People get offended when their culture is being endorsed and displayed and kept alive as a positive symbol but then also get mad and complain that society is forgetting their culture and not doing enough to teach the community about their heritage. So why can’t they just pick one side and stick with it? They are gonna complain either way, they are never going to be satisfied. They change sides depending on how it benefits their narrative.
