If I just fit the blank plate, and not worry right now about the light on the dash will it go into limp mode? Or literally just have a light on the dash
You should have blanked out the other side of the EGR pipe this way the pipe won't get hot for no reason at all. Delete the EGR in the ECU it is relatively easy with plug in software. This bit my mechanic friend did!
if u take off the egr u will still get or have a faultcode;) so there is no other way. u can go to a tuning expert he can delete the faultcode with the program ;)
If you remove the EGR valve you still need to replace it with a pipe kit and then get it deleted in the map, You can still run the car with the egr valve blocked but you will get an error
It's much easier to just block that pipe, just make sure the plate is thin and you remap it out otherwise you might get an error on the dash, it's only 2 bolts
@@KOTalkyes you do all he’s done is stop it recirculating but to do it properly u put one one the manifold side and then u can t off the cooler and vacuum pipes
When you get a remap done you can ask to turn off certain parts of the engine, so yes it will stop you getting errors, just make sure to check with the mechanic and ask if they can turn them off for you, You might have to remove the DPF as well.
@@JamieLee2k is egr delete as easy as it looks to do yourself and do I have to get a mechanic to remove the code after on ecu or will it just go into linp mode after if I don't thanks mate?
@@garylawton7254 Doing the EGR delete (as I done in the video) will throw up an error unless removed in the remap, so make sure you ask the mechanic to turn off the egr when doing the remap and that will stop any errors popping up, unless you are remapping it out I don't think you can do it yourself. My case I had the car 2 weeks then remapped it and put the plate on the EGR as the gasses will still flow regardless it just doesn't throw up any errors due to the map

@@garylawton7254 If you modify any part of the car there is always a risk of something going wrong but I would suggest going to a proper shop that deals with remaps, a normal mechanic/repair shop won't have the expertise in remapping unless they offer it as a service, remaps are generally safe and they offer a restore service if something was to go wrong, So in terms of air/fuel mixture there are a few options, like more power less economy or mixture of both (what I did) or less power and better economy, There maybe other options but I am no expert, Its best to look at reviews before you go ahead. I got my Audi from 140bhp - 170bhp (I could have gone to 185, but held it back a little for safety) and I got 55-60pmg, even putting my foot down I got 30-35mpg but it depends on the remap, I would say its safe if you goto a proper remap shop as they know what they are changing and have mostly done it on a daily basis for years.
The 10mm hole is only there if you dont want the error on the dashboard, and wont be as efficient as blanking it off completely, Remapping it out is the best option as it will completely turn off the error and the EGR blanking plate is there incase some gasses gets past.
If you remap it, you can block it out without the need for a blanking plate, the blanking plate is only there to do what the remap would do but you might get an engine light on the dash, putting a small hole in the blanking plate might not give you an engine light but you are still letting a little bit of gas through.
You will definitely have an engine light with a blanking plate only. Better option is to do the full delete and map it out or just the blanking plate and a map
Personally I haven't but like I said in the video my engine light still hasn't come on so I think it was mapped out, I remapped it from 140bhp to 170bhp and I am getting around 50-55mpg if I drive properly, Hope this helps
Yes, the MOT inspector doesn't know its mapped out, When you map out the error he also closes it off, but as an extra safety measure I have blocked it off, If you remove the DPF it will fail the MOT instantly.
@@JamieLee2k ah okay, thank you. So the emission test come back fine even after a EGR removal? I’m just paranoid because I got mine mapped out but haven’t been for a mot yet, was worried about emissions failing

I have a lekey egr cooler. Will it be fixed if i delete the egr and take a plate in where you have? Its not esay to replace the egr cooler.

What use is a blanking plate if you drill a hole in it? I reckon there was a 'hole' in the first place.
If you drill a hole in it, you don't get the engine fault and because of the amount of gas it does the same job
I'm confused. Surely if you drill a 10mm hole in the blanking plate you're defeating the object of fitting the blanking plate in the first place!
The 10mm hole is only there if you dont want the error on the dashboard, and wont be as efficient as blanking it off completely, Remapping it out is the best option as it will completely turn off the error and the EGR blanking plate is there incase some gasses gets past.
I tried it in a VW T6 bus (Plate with 7mm hole). At130km/h +20% higher gas consumption. I removed it then. Surely more problems would arise.
